Here is something to consider: Every 2 out, bases loaded strikeout that shohei Ohtani gets is equal to a HR robbery or diving catch in the outfield by Judge. Ohtani Strikes out 10 per game, Judge makes 1 or 2 great plays in outfield per game max. In fielding and defense alone, Shohei is worth 5X what Judge is.

How is this even a question? Ohtani by far. What judge has done has been done in the past. Ohtani has done what’s never been done and probably will be the only one to do so in the future. Closest one to Ohtani is Babe but that was a century ago back when baseball was a backyard league.

This is one of those hyped commentary topics that is also unfair to both players. Ohtani is one of a kind, not just in talent but also in his personality and presence on the field. To do both pitching and hitting at an elite level is an achievement no one else has had. He's also big-time in the marketing and fan appreciation categories--many fans for other teams and around the world follow Ohtani with great enthusiasm. Judge is a monster athlete and a big threat at the plate, plus he seems like a good guy. I think Ohtani deserved the MVP again last year. Fixating on HRs is absurd. Stanton hit 57 in 2018, and Judge surpassed that by five, one more than Maris hit. Are you really going to say that was a more noteworthy accomplishment than what Ohtani did as both a hitter and a pitcher? Who knows how much longer Ohtani will continue at this elite level or if he might even surpass what he's done already? But for the last two years, what he's done exceeds what anyone else has done in the sport in history.

Judge almost hit the triple crown too and almost led every single category, not just home runs. Ohtani is crazy good but he doesn't deserve to be MVP every season when Judge clearly had a greater impact on the offense of their respective teams

The stronger you are, the longer you can wait, sit back, and see the ball. Like Bonds on roids, whose bat felt like a matchstick, and can wait a hundredth of a second more to see the ball before unleashing his power. It’s all about the bat speed afforded by your strength, natural or not.

Taking Judge. He is Equally elite at 2 things just like What Ohtani is. Judge has been proven to be able to carry a team by him regardless of injuries to relevance ever with a WAR above 12. Ohtani hasn’t. Ohtani is A Great player.. Don’t get me twisted but Despite him pitching and hitting it just ain’t equaling wins. MLB, Japanese press, comment farms and Dummy accounts can try to push the narrative all they want… But until I see the Angels make the playoff or finish over .500. I’d start my franchise with Judge.
@adolka
@adolka Жыл бұрын
If they swapped teams last year, I would say judge’s angels would be worse records wise. Yankees just have so much more star power (angels really just trout and othani). Baseball unfortunately is a sport where it is hard for one to carry for wins. I would be interested where othani chooses to go in FA
@SDSOverfiend
@SDSOverfiend Жыл бұрын
@@adolka Good point.. I’ll counter that by saying. With all the star power the Yankees had. Injuries neutralized that last year and judge held them up long enough to keep the division. He would’ve been a triple crown winner had Arraez not sat the last few games. What’s even crazy is the Expanded strike judge gets to ensure he stays a mortal human.
@kuhaku9635
@kuhaku9635 Жыл бұрын
when comparing player. you're comparing player. not teams. once you mention "once angels get .500" that's not comparing players no more. And it's not ohtani's fault that the team loses, just look at his ERA and win loss ratio, he would've won ever more if the closer ain't so bad. I still remember that game where ohtani scores was it 6 or 7 runs against KC, and angels still lost

@@adolka --Yankees, Dodgers or a contender. There is *NO WAY* Ohtani re-signs with the Angels in '24 even if they offered more $$$. That ain't happenin'. He's not making the same mistake Trout made.
