@DiscipleDave DotCom Not entirely correct. The Father counts us righteous because of our faith, and that has never changed. Pre-Jesus, people had faith in the Father's promises to Abraham but were still under the curse of the law. Post-Jesus people were made free from the law and salvation became available to all, but by having faith in Jesus Christ being made flesh, dying, then resurrecting on the third day we are baptized in His name. Now the Holy Spirit is available to all who repent and come to faith, whereas before the Holy Spirit dwelled in a temple.

The story line on Mary. I was saved when I was very young, Decades later my husband left me and I reverted way back too. I fell into sin and like Mary felt so unworthy of Jesus. I spent a long time in repentance and pleading for forgiveness and "suddenly" I realized He loves me and I was forgiven. Dallas, I think the Mary Magdalene story line is NOT offensive. I loved it. We all can back slide at any time, which is why we should always focus on God and need to ask God for help. Plus, in Episode 6, I love love love that The Blessed Mother Mary brought Mary Magdalene straight to Jesus, and stayed with Mary Magdalene during the reconciliation with Jesus. You have to careful though. Let's say you die in the midst of your sin where will we go? So there's a difference. For instance a prostitute come to realization his/her sin and turns from it and believes and follows Christ for eternal life. Be it whatever reason he/she backslides you better believe God is not going to take their soul from the earth. We don't know. That's why it's important not to live in sin. Yes, God has unending mercy but we don't know when we are gone from this earth. It's about eternal life.

@@SM-2gmnl there's a difference in being a true follower of Christ with the sin nature of Adam and never following Christ but saying you are. God decided the True heart of the person. I was redeemed the 1st time I asked Jesus to come into my heart. He was there waiting with open arms every time I realized I couldn't do this thing called getting clean and staying clean, without Him. He loves all of us that much! That He loves to joke and have fun. ( He teases ME so I speak from EXPERIENCE) There’s a time to be serious about holiness and repentance and sin and the job at hand… And there’s a time to just ENJOY Him and His company and I think you are perfectly capturing that! I also love the way Liz plays Mary Magdalene! I’m in love with her portrayal of this Amazing woman that I so look forward to meeting and speaking with some day. I love all your casting choices and know you were led by Holy Spirit in your choices because everyone fits their role like a hand in a glove! I so deeply admire the integrity and courage it takes to not pull your punches, Dallas. In the face of arguably the most critical audience on the planet (the internet, but especially fellow Christians on the internet, sadly enough), you let the 1st Century world be raw and realistic as far as running the gambit of human emotion and frailty that other projects and the general body of organized religion shy away from. That takes great honesty and guts!

Episode 5 of season 2 is one of my FAVORITE episodes of The Chosen. I absolutely LOVED the scene between Simon and Jesus; I really resonate with these characters and I know God's hand is 100% over this show. I understand why some folks might disagree with some of the scenes and like Dallas said, that's okay. Film is a form of art that folks can respond differently to. But I think we can all agree that this show is exceedingly BEAUTIFUL because it uniquely captures the heart of Jesus in a fresh and impactful way that transforms lives. This show has deepened my walk with Jesus and it makes me excited to see Him face to face. Keep up the great work Dallas! Love your humility and the incredible work you are doing :)

“Becoming a Christian” isn't extreme soul makeover anymore than a Disney happily ever after. The preachers like to preach this to collect more souls, status, and money. The disciples, read the Bible, to see the disciples were in a process of change as they walked with the Messiah. “Work out your salvation...” is what Dallas is showing. The relationship between the Shepherd and the sheep, the renewal of their minds and hearts -even after Peter betrays Him not once like Judas, but three times. It's expected, not shamed, that the sheep go astray. It's ok to be in the process...

Yes, we are still just babies when born again. In spite of having a personal transformation, we still have to grow as children and then to fully mature "sons" whom He is not ashamed to call "brothers" and share the inheritance with us. We don't pop out of the spiritual womb perfect. We feel so blessed to walk with Christ and know His mind that it's easy to think we have arrived at the finish line, but we've only just picked up our cross. We still must walk from faith to faith, glory to glory, fighting the good fight,, pressing toward that mark that is so much more than we can even imagine. He is that awesome.

“Work out your salvation!” Yes, a process of daily renewing our mind! Example: Last night, I had scary thoughts because of physical pain. Negativity, fear, anger, etc. When I woke this morning, I repented for allowing those emotions to envelop my thought process, because I know dwelling in those dark places gives the enemy a foothold. I also spoke to the spirit of all such negativity to leave in the name of Jesus. Today, I feel much better. In the past, I have allowed myself to go too far with rage, anger, and hopelessness; at that point, it became an issue of depression. So, I have learned that I must renew my mind daily, fellowship with the Lord, and take captive all thoughts that are not going to lead to fruitful living. My point, we have to do what the Holy Spirit guides us to do as we work out our own salvation, and wash, rinse repeat! We are human, we will mess up again.

I love the scene when Jesus prepares his sermon. I believe that God decided to become man with all consequences. With the risk of getting a cold or blisters on the feet, that he had to learn things and so on. Why not preparing and rehearsing a sermon? In Hebrews 5,8 we read "though he was the Son, yet LEARNED obedience by the things which he suffered" And in the Eucharistic Prayer we pray that Jesus was "equal to us in everything except sin". But then the show also shows him being omnipotent, reciting back private prayers of his disciples and knowing peoples’ entire lives and their innermost thoughts. It doesn’t need to be perfect when there are so many other powerful moments.

Actually I change my mind after watching half this video. If we start questioning if it’s ’plausible’ John The Baptist was wrong, then we can question a lot of our faith. He says he isn’t saying John was wrong, but just putting the question out there. However, from the way he portrayed it, his mind seems pretty made up. I also read of his misunderstanding of Jesus’s “Why have you forsaken me” line, the true meaning of which I’ve heard many teachers explain since I was a kid. Another commenter has kindly explained it in detail. So, most regretfully, I must end watching this show ☹️

I appreciate Dallas' clarification concerning the episode on another KZfaq post. What was unclear at first to me was Mary's reaction before she ran away appeared to be in connection with the demon-possessed man (she held her hand to her forehead depicting the same headache she got prior to being demonized in Episode 1). And she then runs away right after Jesus casts out the demon from the man. So it appeared that Mary was running away because she was being demonized again. I did not make the connection about the Roman being a trigger for her trauma.

This is why ongoing conversation or constantly turning back to God is so important. :) Beautiful show, keep up the good work.

The way Yeshua got tears in his eyes as he watched John walk away made me cry too. And I really appreciate how Dallas gets it that the disciples were as human and flawed as all of us are. It gives us hope!!! This series is REAL and it is so needed!!!

Dallas, many thanks for the narratives to give almost everyone a road map to plausible, logical and scriptural scenes. Creative reality offers you the opportunity to take the fact that as Jesus and John the Baptist were cousins, they would have a moments together, chatting about their destinies. Same thing goes for the scenes with Jesus and the children - a beautiful picture of our Savior’s adoption of us as children of God. Freely given and with no exception. The children seeking him out for his teachings was like Nicodemus seeking the way, the truth and life (his rebirth) or redemption. You have captured scripture in the most true to life and plausible scenarios ever made. Where some disagree, it’s ok. It’s healthy in that it encourages us to read the scriptures. May the Holy Spirit continue to be you and your co-writers literary guide. Amen!

I sure envy those Christians who have never sinned after meeting Jesus. I’ve never actually met any of them though. If they’re really sure they have never failed Jesus after their conversation, maybe they should double-check that with their closest friends or family. I suspect their spouse might be sble to point out a failure or two.

I’ve “met” some Christians who say they never have sinned since salvation. They are in a very dangerous place, spiritually speaking. I’ve had times in my life when I couldn’t point out any sins I was going. But as I matured, the Spirit revealed all these things I did that were actually really gross sins. It blows my mind that sone Christians are so blind to believe they are perfect. Even the apostle Paul had sin issues and he did not hide his struggle with the flesh!

listen, I have prayed and spilt my heart to my Lord, and repented only in a day or so heck in an hour I have said something, lied, swore, and i will challenge any Christian to say they have not sinned since accepting Jesus! We all have sinned and fallen short! These are the very same people who judge, need to remember, gossip is right next to murder in Galatians,, Ephesians, Corinthians! Yet they love to run and gossip about a sister or brother in Christ! They are the epitome of why people of the world want nothing to do with Christians. I Love my Jesus, and i know that He and the Holy Spirit are my advocates, and yes I sin, I try not to, sometimes I can, sometimes I cant!

I have met many "Christians" over the years who declare they don't sin, as they gossip, slander, lie, criticize others (i.e pastors, deacons, Sunday school teacher's, bosses, neighbor's etc. Some even go so far as to claim, from scripture that they have not sinned or that GOD does not deal with them in the chastisement sense Paul speaks of "whom the LORD Loves HE chastens" and the chastisement is not pleasant etc. Well those persons admit thet are the "b" word when they say they are never chastened by the LORD in the sense of a spanking.🤷🏽 All the while hating brother/sister etc., for whatever reason refusing to be corrected.

@Myrrh Solace Haha, I don't believe there's such a thing as a Christian who's never sinned after meeting Jesus, because perfection is something we have to strive for our whole life. Every single Christian sins just like non-Christians sin, because we all have the same fallen nature. (I am Catholic however, so I believe that Mary -- aside from Christ, of course, who is both God and Man and perfection itself -- is the only human who was completely perfect, but as we believe, that is solely because God applied the redemptive graces of Christ's Passion to her ahead of time and in a unique way because Christ needed to enter the world through a completely pure vessel, as he is Perfection.)

Why would “Jesse” NOT talk about Jesus? His healing was the most amazing thing that ever happened to him; you have to be really cynical about human nature to think he was tattling.I liked the scene with John the Baptist b/c you can see in Jesus’ face that Jesus knew he’d never see John in this world again. The scene with Jesus deliberating over his sermon was surprising, because I always assumed Jesus’ teachings were spontaneous, but I recognize that was an assumption based on… nothing really,. Scripture hints that he repeated some of his messages in different locations, which suggests that he did plan out and memorize what he was going to say.

I have to state my strong opinion that, if Jesus was God in the flesh, then He would know what to say at exactly the right time, without having to 'rehearse' it whatsoever. This is what He taught the disciples, wasn't it? He had the greatest hotline to the Father that anyone has ever had.

@@agemoth but likewise He needed to understand what it was like for the rest of us. So it would make sense if He didn't have a 100% constant access at all moments. He had to live a mortal life, like the rest of us. He could have chosen to skip those hard parts, but if I had to guess, He wanted to be 100% authentic to what the rest of us have to go through.

Mary is a fairly new Christian so these things will happen. When a baby messes their diaper do we beat them? No, we gently clean them up, and even play with them as we do it. Those of us who have experienced and come through our own mess and messes can help others going through their mess, by *remembering* this and extending love, mercy, understanding and compassion. Not condemnation. Jesus did not excuse my sin when I messed up, nor did He condemn me. He instead pointed to Himself as the antidote for my sin all in a love that made me want Him over sin. I must now point others to Him as the antidote for their sin, and extend the love that I received by helping in whatever way He would allow me to. *It is the way of the cross.* By the way, I *LOVE The Chosen* and *everthing* about it.🇨🇦

And when we look in scripture, Peter had walked with Jesus for 3 years and yet he responded to Jesus being taken away by cutting the ear off a servant. We can clearly see the way Dallas is portraying the disciples and their human flaws is very biblical because the Jews were no different in their humanity than we are. The only difference is the time and culture in which they dealt with those flaws.

I hope the audience doesn’t miss how meticulously this series is being produced. It is so well thought out by people who love the Lord and believe the Creed that most Christians profess. Fictionalized stories have been built around the real people we know from the Holy Gospels, very skillfully woven, in my opinion, to actual scripture. It provokes deep thought on the various scenes we know from the life Jesus, which is not much different from praying the rosary, where one contemplates specific events from His life. People have opinions and educated guesses and I am reminded of various mystics down through the centuries who have had visions of the life of Jesus and the people in His life. It is quite remarkable how each mystic will see the same scene in Jesus’s life a bit differently. What is the reason I wonder? But God must have His reasons for allowing it to be. There is so much Mystery in scripture and the life of Our Lord and I think this series so far has presented plausible stories that cause us to think. May God bless Dallas and all of the hard working people involved in this project. I believe God’s hand is In it and I want it to stay that way. Offer prayers for all involved because this is something really good that is being done for the Kingdom here and can bring a lot of souls to God. Think about it- a non-Christian could watch this series and get drawn in because of the stories and the depiction of the various characters, the excellent production and all the great actors. It is such an unusual and unprecedented way of telling the story of Our Lord that will make people want to seek Him.

Just look at Moses. He constantly argued with God. He even asked God once to end his life as he was tired of dealing with his people. Was he less Moses? Well, no. John the Baptist did send his disciples to ask Jesus if he was the Messiah or should they wait for another-this is written in the Gospel. If that’s not an argument, then I don’t know what is.

Mary's storyline is my favorite because I identify with her so much. I was stuck in an addiction for almost 2 years. It felt like an eternity. I went through the same emotions Mary did: hopelessness, shame, guilt, and despair. Like Mary, I broke free from that part of my past with help from God and friends and family. And like Mary, I backslided. I felt overwhelmingly guilty after giving in to my addiction. To this day I am truly grateful that my conscience was never completely numbed and silenced by continuously giving in to my addiction. With the help of prayer and a pep talk from a very good friend, I got back on track. I am now 4 years, 3 months, and 3 days sober. I'm taking it one day at a time. All this to say that every time I watch Mary's storyline I go "that's me. That's my story too!" I am Mary Magdalene. As far as I'm concerned, I'll always have an emotional connection to how she is portrayed in this show. ❤
