One of the best things to happen to Rock was when those UK boys of the 50's and 60's got into old Black American Blues artists and allowed it to influence their writings. Then they brought the Blues back to America and all of a sudden those old Blues players were relevant again.

One of their most overlooked songs is Winter. It is brilliant, written by Mick Jagger and Mick Taylor. Taylor does an amazing job on this song and the words are so beautiful. It's one of my favorite Stones songs, very mellow and heartfelt.

I've love every era of the Rolling Stones as they adapted to music changes the best of any other rock band that I can think of at the moment. I can't say that about Aerosmith as they sort of lost me after their 70's era. And a lot of other rock bands although being great seem to rest on their classics and don't put out much new stuff. Sort of like Ricky Nelson and the Garden Party situation where he wanted to put out new stuff during an all star tour.

Favorite Stones album (Exile on Main Street) by a country mile. It’s different than all their other albums. Lots of horns, lots of gospel singers, lots hole-in-the-wall bangers and bops. It has something for both of you and it is filled with soul and rnb!

Exile On Main Street is as important an album to The Rolling Stones as Sgt Pepper is to The Beatles. You should listen to the whole album just for your own musical education, you won't regret it. The greatest album ever! Recorded in Keith's basement in the South of France. Mick is blowing the harp. Not a mandolin, but acoustic guitar. Keith plays both guitar parts as well as bass. Can't remember who does drums on this track, but it wasn't Charlie. Bobby Keys plays sax. One of my favourites!!!

Hi there. Just want to tell you that this song is played by Bill Wyman on bass(original co-founder ) Mick Taylor on lead guitar replacing Brian Jones (original co-founder) who died tragically in his swiming pool . Years later entered Ronnie wood for the place of Mick Taylor , and Ronnie wood stayed until today. Hope I could help with a bit of history 😊😊😊
@howardhales6325
@howardhales6325 5 ай бұрын
Actually it was Ian Stewart who co-founded the band with Brian. Dick Taylor (Pretty Things) was their original bass player but left the group to finish school. Ian brought in Bill to replace him and Charlie was the last to join shortly after that. Ian was later asked to leave the group because he didn't have the right look for the group and he became their road manager and continued to play keyboards in concerts.

Played this tune so many times over the years, a hit from the soundtrack of my life…made me think, for some reason, of a Johnny Cash song off his first American Recordings session-a song written by the surreal Loudon Wainwright the third, ‘the man who wouldn’t cry’…I can’t explain the soundtrack, it just plays on…

Not one of their hits, but The Stones are always worth reacting to. Nice job. Request: Mary Weiss, lead singer for The Shangri-las, passed away this week. I know you have reacted to their biggest hit "Leader of the Pack". It might be time to do another of their hits from 1964 "Remember ( "Walking in the Sand )" with a very young Billy Joel on piano. Watch a live performance of this and see how they influenced Amy Winehouse both visually and musically. Another big hit was "Give Him a Great Big Kiss".

You need to see them in concert. They’re getting ready to launch another North American tour. My sister is going to see them in Philly in June. She’s seen them about six times! I’ve seen them twice in Charlotte, NC. The first time I saw them was 1998. The second time was 2021 (delayed a year because of Covid). It was only a month after long time drummer Charlie Watts passed away. Both were incredible shows, but I think the second time was better, even though they were 20 years older! Just one legendary song after another. I know they were doing it for Charlie.

Try "Dead Flowers" from Sticky Fingers and "Far Away Eyes" from Some Girls for more epic country Stones singalongs! Also, check out Graham Parsons -- cause that's where Keith got a lot of his country influence.

Thank you, I was wondering if anyone else mentioned Gram. Without Gram Parsons, this album probably wouldn't been like this, my opinion

For more rootsy Americana from the Stones, try "Prodigal Son", "Dear Doctor", "No Expectations", from Beggars Banquet, "Country Honk" of Let It Bleed, or "You Gotta Move" off Sticky fingers
