I grew up in the 50's & 60's. My dad was just starting his appliance repair business. We didn't have much. Soda was 10 cents & a bag of chips was 5 cents. My mother never brought soda or chips with her groceries. I remember she bought luncheon meat & hoagie rolls on Sat & that was a treat for us. Not sure if my mom & dad got a hoagie...I bet it's a no. They are both gone or I'd ask. I know things were touch & go. But we were happy & didn't know any better. Good times❤❤❤❤❤

Jessi, I too have to say Thank you for being transparent! So many "social media" influencers are not and it helps to realize that you are a "real" person that has struggles just like everyone else. It helps you to be more relatable to your viewers. I grew up with not a lot of money either but we had what we needed. I think that helped a bunch because when my husband joined the military he was making next to nothing. lol We had kids right away (I was 6 mos pregnant when we married) so we had to learn fast how to make ends meet. It definitely makes you more appreciative of what you have. Thank you for being real and keep being you!!

I couldn’t relate to you more! I was putting myself down, striving so hard to keep up with other mommas. I thought what’s wrong with me, why can’t I do this picture perfect like they are!?! Then one day my kids looked at me randomly at different times and told me I was the best mommy ever, that they thank God for me. 😢. If that doesn’t prioritize your life I don’t know what will. I’m a wife, work, homeschool my 2 kids, highly active in church and countless sports/activities. So I do what works for our family and it’s made a tremendous difference! Love your channel ❤

I've recently have been feeling overwhelmed trying to keep up with stuff. Im juggling staying with my mom after she broke her hip. She is home after rehab. Trying to motivate and help care for her while juggling keeping everything stocked, clean, repaired or replaced and wanting to go back to school. I became disabled and had to sell my home after I lost my husband at 41 with 2 children to bring up on my own. I was always cleaning (ocd lol) inside and out to keep it beautiful. Great video! The last two and a half yrs have been very hard for me, my husband passed away from cancer, I feel exactly the same way you explained, I also got married young and had kids young! Our home is a fixer upper that we inherited from my husband’s grandfather. It’s not the prettiest home and sometimes it makes me feel down to see others homes on social media. I just have to remind myself to be grateful for what we have because so many don’t have a home. I also know how you feel looking back on your childhood memories and realizing that your family didn’t have a lot of money but the love and happiness made up for that. I was raised by a single mom until I was ten and then my mom met my stepdad. He stepped up for us and hasn’t stopped since. Now I am married and have a little girl and fur babies. My husband and I want to give her the best and teach her to appreciate what she does have but it is so hard in todays world.

Nice surprise video!! I’m watching while doing some Christmas decorating. We were “regulars” at yard sales loved them growing up! I was a little girl in the 80’s we also used Green Stamps IYKYK, saved cans and also my parents grew nearly all the vegetables we ate. All that was normal back then. My dad worked for the Housing Authority and he would bring home lots of furniture and toys that we loved and some of that furniture my parents still have 20+ years later.

Things can become toxic and you have to protect your sanity/mental health. It’s okay to just be normal with a messy fridge and closet. I mean we are the normal people, those with the clear bins and organized closets are “the crazy people” 😂. I considered myself a traditional wife/mom with a twist. I am a full time working outside the home physician substitute/registered nurse who grew up kinda like how you mentioned in this video. Loved watching this today even though you filmed it awhile ago. If you could send a prayer I’d deeply appreciate it. I lost my little sister 6 years ago to pancreatic cancer. She left behind a 5 year old and an 8 month old. I don’t want to lose anyone else. My videos that I post are definitely realistic. The problem is that YT doesn’t always push out us small YT channels who have realistic messy houses! This video was very relatable in regards to muting or unfollowing people so thank you. I have the same struggles you do with anxiety and depression and tend to get down bc I feel like I’m not good enough compared to others and feeling left out or when I feel like my son is being left out compared to other mom’s social media. Jessi you are not lazy by any means. I have OCD and I feel like I could always do better. Organization is something I try to keep on top of. But if you have a husband and children, it's a losing better. That's ok we would be lost without them. The refrigerator may look beautiful and perfect but we only see it when the creators allow us to. We don't see it everyday. I would dare to say it's not that way constantly. I really loved this video. I agree with feelings of being less than. I like your channel because you're always so down to earth and your bloopers help me understand what happens behind the scenes. You're channel is motivating without seeming like having a nice home is out of reach. I enjoyed hearing about your childhood and early marriage. Your mom sounds great. When my kids were small, we got most large gifts on Craigslist mostly for financial reasons, but I agree about the wastefulness.

I am a mom of 5, 2 are still home and we live in a single wide, I clean houses and at times get wrapped up in the whole feeling less than BUT we shouldn't it is hard sometimes. Jessi i have felt the same about these influencers that seem to have it all together but the reality is just not there. I have raised 6 kids, have a dozen grandchildren. I work full-time outside the house and watch 3 grandkids after school. That they are looked after and loved is what makes the difference. I will tell you my kids who are in their thirty and forties don't remember if all the pillow cases matched or if the pantry was perfectly cleaned. They remember the time we spent doing things together and ice skating, swimming, dance, and sports lessons. Those are the things that stuck and really matter in life. 25:25 I am watching you while my grandkids are swimming. ❤

I know what you mean about other channels. Sometimes it is discouraging because large newer homes come with a spot for everything and not everyone has that which is fine. Just know it’s all relative. I loved this video. To be honest it was a favorite I think. I totally can relate to your story. I grew up poor, in a trailer. My dad worked worked hard, and mom substituted jobs to take care of me,my sister, and my brother. I am also a military wife been with my husband for 20 years and we have a 16yo son -Cole, and a 14 yo son- who's name is Jesse, but lost our 3 child back in 2013. Anyways I donno why I shared that with you...maybe because I feel like I know alot about you, but you don't know much about us. My mom did that too! I loved yard saling! We had so much fun. In our trailer we had swinging saloon doors to the kitchen and I thought it was so fancy😆👍. I remember the moms in the neighborhood swapping bags of clothes when we outgrew stuff. All totally normal. When I first got married we were stationed in Charleston SC (Navy) we saved green stamps from the PigglyWiggly grocery store to get free movie tickets. (1994) Best times EVER!

I like your honesty. And believe me…you are not lazy and I relate to when it comes to comparing ourselves to others. For me it can make me depressed if I focus to much on it. I also have 3 kids all in elementary school. I myself have also slowed down on watching certain influencers. One I really liked was another cleaning channel that became successful. However she would redecorating her house all the time and not just little stuff it was like $$$$ in furniture over and over again. At the end of the day if you have the money, you can do whatever you like. But it was starting to irritate me how she was never happy or satisfied. She was never content. I still watch her from time to time but for myself when it comes to decorating, if I make a purchase for my home…I want that piece to last as long as possible and love the piece enough I wont want to change it even if the trends change. I have a French country style end table that I’ve had for maybe over 20 years (had it since I was 11 years old) it was my moms first but to this day I love that furniture piece and it hurts me to see it’s starting to have a lot of wear and tear. But anyway I can say a lot more but this comment is already too long. I also grew up poor but I still had a great childhood.

We use to collect cans and trade them back in as well!! Saturday morning yard sales were awesome!! We'd go yard saling and then to taco bell or Arby's for their 5 for 5!!! Taco bell dollar bell was awesome back then. I use to save my .59 so i could get me a Taco when We'd go grocery lol
