So I appreciate you guys trying to answer my question, but I don't think I quite got my question across (sorry!). The type of shot I was asking about is where you do a preinfusion and then a stall where the flow is basically turned off but the solenoid valve stays closed (so it doesn't purge built up pressure) for as long as maybe even 30 seconds or more to allow the espresso to "bloom" in the portafilter before doing a higher flow rate extraction with full pressure. Pretty popular among fancy espresso KZfaqrs 😉 Thanks!

Hey LLTD, Sorry we misunderstood! You can def do that on E61 machines equipped with flow control. Just have to make sure the FC device is calibrated to no flow with the valve closed. Give it a little flow to start then close the valve for desired bloom time then open to continue.

@@LordLewsTheDragon On the Crem you can go to ultra low flow rate - very close to zero. Another option on E61 group machines is to drop the lever enough to stop the pump but not enough to release the pressure through the E61 exhaust port.

@@Wholelattelovepage so a blooming shot can be done with the Crem using the standard e61 function without a saved profile (starting the shot until preinfusion is done, then dropping the lever to 45 to bloom, then going back to full open for the extraction) or it can be attempted with the very low flow rate options in a profile? So sort of a full manual or an automated option to achieve the same result? Cool. Given that it directly programs pressure, not flow rate, in a profile, how low can the pressure be set during a low flow extraction. Can it go less than 1 bar for example?

I wish more manufacturers did brushed stainless steel as a standard option. Chrome just too hard to keep clean

Coming from a Gaggia Classic Pro 2019, I don‘t know what to expect of the Pro 300 in terms of steam power. Can I make 4 cappuccini back to back? Or even more? That would be my main reason to upgrade. I‘m a bit confused, since the 300‘s steam power is often described „ok“ in other reviews. Please enlighten me 😊

Yes, you can make 4 cappuccino with the Pro 300 - the steam power is not like from a Marzocco, so it just takes a little longer... but you can make coffee and steam at the same time too. I have my 300 now for 5 Years and it is a great little dual boiler that does not waste that much energy, like the bigger ones. If I would do 4 cups or more in a row all time all day.. then something bigger with more power is more fun to use.

I bought a small double boiler from WLL, My thought process was that double boilers would provide the most accurate brew temp. This turned out to be not entirely true FOR SMALLER MACHINES. The practical reality has been that these machines have a small brew boiler. So that when you brew… the boiler is immediately refilled with cold water. And, because of the small size… this cold water quickly impacts the brew water temperature. So, ultimately the brew performance is similar to a single boiler…. Except for the convenience of immediate steaming There are various ways to compensate for this issue…. But unfortunately…. The machine immediately switches to the shot timer function when pulling a shot…. So that it is not clear what is happening in the brew boiler

Seems like the Crem brew boiler preheat would be the solution to this problem

Hi MrA, Thanks for the comment and your patronage. Keep in mind when pulling a shot the temperature indicated within the boiler by the PID probe does not accurately reflect the temperature of brew water on the coffee. Should be enough water in the boiler that temperature remains consistent during a typical extraction. Thermal mass of group head etc. helps stabilize temp of brew water on its journey to the coffee. Water temp fluctuations are picked up very quickly by the PID probe in central boiler location.

@@Wholelattelovepage thx for the feed back… and all of your videos that have educated be on the subtleties of this hobby. Regarding brew temp stability. I understand the points that you made… and thought about them. Although initially i set my temp for desired brew temp… and even i. the best case of thermal mass… i think it does not stay at that temp. Particularly since i brew in the morning and do not heat the house at night so the water reservoir is probably 55 degrees. In any case, i have jerry rigged compensation from my days temperature surfing a silvia In case you are interested…. My compensation is to set the temp 3 degrees higher…. Then do a pre infusion and wait until boiler returns to temp… then finish the brew…. It works for me. Happy holidays to the whole gang at WLL

Im afraid it’s only in the lineup because of WLL’s role in the creation of it. I know some dual boilers off the top of my head that are more worthy of that 5th spot

@@crawdaddyy maybe. But most of those others are basically indistinguishable by features and reputation. This is clearly the "best of what WLL sells" but you. Have to admit that if you are interested in functions over form, it's the most functional dual boiler for the price by a wide margin. For that you are taking a gamble on a somewhat less reputable company and a less proven design/build... But a 3 year warranty makes that less of a gamble. 🤷‍♂️ To be the Crem seems to be the best machine I have seen yet for my family. I love tinkering and experimenting, but my wife will just want the "Wife's profile" so she can lift the lever and lower it when it flashes and not have to worry about a flow control paddle/knob or using a scale for brew ratios. Haven't seen another machine for really any price that at least appears to perfectly appeal to a "mixed barista" environment lol
