Thanks for the video Marc, I just realized I did not remove the motor screw at the bottom, I should check that. I would love to see a video with a machine plumbed. I will have to check here in Dubai where I can get the equipment. The drain also is amazing it has some many options.

I find the machine super interesting. Can you say whether there is an offset/difference between the temperature displayed on the PID control and the effective brewing temperature? In other words, can it be the case that I get 94 degrees Celsius displayed on the PID ex works, for example, but actually only brew at 91 degrees Celsius, for example?
@Wholelattelovepage5 ай бұрын
Hey oliver, yes, there is an offset between the actual temperature in the boiler and what ends up on the coffee. Variables like ambient air temperature have an affect. Typically, the water temp in the boiler is a little higher than what ends up on the coffee. As mentioned in the video the offset is easily user adjustable in the menu. The difficult part is measuring water temp out of the group to decide what the offset should be. Measuring requires a relatively sophisticated device like a Scace or the Pesado TPD. In most cases it's best for users to leave the offset set as it came from the factory. Marc

Hi, would you find this machine suitable for a coffee school and occasionally for a coffee cart or at events of max 100 people?
@WholelattelovepageАй бұрын
Hi PSCS, Should work for a coffee school. It's technically not a commercial machine. Servicing events with 100 guests is pushing the limits.

I have to get one 🤪 but I am still thinking about ECM Synchronika 🤔

I have the Drive. The PID is so much better than the Synkronika. I think the Synkronica is due for an upgrade to this PID so I would wait before buying the Synkronika or buy the Drive now.

Synchronika is very slow heat up time

@@LivingTheLifeRetired this I think is what comment I was looking for. I feel like ecm and profitec are the best to other manufacturers but between those 2, I had a feeling the Drive was better. The only problem is the Drive is so out of stock

Hello, I’ve been searching for a new machine I have the Breville oracle touch , but want something different , I seen this review and I wonder how does this compare to the ECM synchronica ? They are very alike I believe
@WholelattelovepageАй бұрын
Hi g, thanks for the question. Internally the ECM Synchronika and Profitec Drive are essentially identical with the same boilers and many other components. ECM and Profitec are sister companies. The Drive has a bunch of new functions not found on the Synchronika like time programmable active and passive pre-infusion, programmable on/off by time of day. The Synchronika has a more refined external housing and extra details like chrome tips on valves, handles and the angled portafilters. Hope that helps! Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage Hello , thank you It did, I like the profitec a lot,also looking at the bazzara aria PID, you guys have a great selection, it’s for a home use, so the one boiler should be fine, I’m just not familiar with the brand, want something reliable, because the breville Oracle touch we had kept breaking. I seen it’s a copper boiler, but I’m also not sure, if that’s a factor at all.

How to take into account the pre-infusion time? Should it be included in the total time or should it be added to the main time (25 seconds + pre-infusion time?
@Wholelattelovepage6 ай бұрын
Hi SK, when timing shots it's best to leave pre-infusion time out of the calculation. Example: Let's say you did 5 seconds of active pre-infusion and 10 seconds passive. Certainly do not want the rest of the extraction to be only 10 seconds! Marc

Thanks for showing 😊 wonder where brew temperature is. Boiler, grouphead or temp in the puck/cup?
@Wholelattelovepage6 ай бұрын
Hi l, you're welcome! Like the majority of machines of this type the temperature probe is within the brew boiler. In the menu of the machine you can adjust the boiler offset temperature if needed to compensate for hot/cold ambient conditions, etc. It's nice on this machine you can easily access the boiler offset setting if needed. On many machines that setting is somewhat hidden in a tech access menu with cryptic labeling. Marc

Is the quick start heat up mode a setting in the menu you just set and not have to mess with menus after that? My wife would love this feature, but would NOT be willing to get into the menus at any time. Thank you!

Hi brucek, Yes, you'd only need to turn it on 1 time, Marc
@rohanlg7906 ай бұрын
In terms of pre-infusion, my Breville dual boiler has a 10 second pre-infusion, does this mean I should be setting my shot time up to 40 seconds, and only timing the coffee extraction from when the pump actually turns on or do I start counting the 30 seconds when the first drip comes out of the porter filter?
@Wholelattelovepage6 ай бұрын
Hi r, thanks for the question. I recommend using first drip but it's up to you. Timing is the most basic way to appraise an extraction and gives you a reference point that's relative to your variables. So if you pull a 1:2 ratio shot at 25 seconds from 1st drip and it tastes sour/under-extracted you might adjust grind a hair finer to get the same 1:2 brew ratio in 30 seconds. If you were counting a 10 second pre-infusion in your timing you're now at 35 and 40 seconds in the example. A flow profile I use for very fresh from roast specialty coffees uses a very low flow start of ~2g/s until I see first drip at maybe 15 seconds. From there I change to a medium flow rate of ~5g/s to complete the shot. In that profile, total time from pump on could be 40-45 seconds. Marc

Drive or Synchronica?
@Wholelattelovepage4 ай бұрын
Hi oz, Thanks for the question. If you did not know, internally the Drive and Synchronika are essentially identical. Same boilers, pump, plumbing, etc. The Synchronika's finishing is slightly more refined and it also has angled portafilters while the Drive's are straight. Synchronika is available with flow control and it's stock on the Drive. The big difference are additional features in the Drive's control system like active/passive pre-infusion, time of day/day of week on/off and the fast heating option. If you are likely to use those features then the Drive is worth a look. Hope that helps! Marc

At this price level seems the decent is the better choice. Granted those seeking a more manual approach would disagree. That said the chase for a more perfect shot is better found using the decent imho.
@dearcoffee853 ай бұрын
I would probably agree feature wise. But I don’t know how reliable Decent will be vs Drive long term.
