Wholesale auto detailing supplies and some words from Darren at www.best-auto-d...
Do professional detailers really get the "insiders" price and have secret connections to getting supplies that you yourself cannot?

Hey Darren I purchased a few gallons of maguires professional line degreaser, cleaner and spray bottles from your web site hopefully you got your 7%. I'd like to thank you for turning me on to the profession products the results are amazing.The degreaser spilled a bit during shipping tho, wasn't to happy about that.

As a car dealership owner, who has an in-house detail shop with multiple detailers, I can say that your information is a little misleading. We purchase our detail products from "The Supply Co.", in Monroe, Wa. They only sell to body shops, car dealerships, and detail shops. They will not sell to you unless you have a business license, and resellers permit with within one of the businesses I mentioned. We purchase our tire shine, wheel acid (Which is not allowed to be sold online or in retail stores to consumers, real wheel acid), car shampoo, degreaser, and a few other products by 55GAL drums and extremely discounted prices. These drums are not available to consumers. We purchase polish, compounds, waxes, interior dressings, each in 5-gallon containers. Just a little information from someone in the business.

I guess your only wholesale advantage is buying in bulk knowing you'll use it ie. 5-25 litres. I dont do this for a living but I do the same for home, I buy either meguirs or, we have carplan here which is 1/3 of the price, and buy in 5l tubs that last years. Rarely bother with £10-15 500ml products anymore.

I usually buy most of my products at this store, Auto Body Parts Supplier 15801 Rockfield Blvd, Irvine, have you been there? It's a good store because they have most of the things you need in the professional world and you don't have to pay for shipping.

Yes getting paid might be a professional but they may be just be professional car washers and here in my town the term detail gets thrown around very loosely. Like the crew of about 5 to 10 guys around here that claim to be mobile detailers that go around. And they won't wash your car before they buff it. so the Grits swirls it up. And they take a 5000 PSI hot water washer and spray the seats and Carpet Right inside of vehicle without even taking the seats and carpet out. Then the mechanic at the dealership doesn't know why everything is shorting out and why they're having to send all these cars to my detail shop where I also do upholstery repair. And I'm having to replace Headliners which is fine I get paid to do it but the headliners were in good shape until they got the car soaking wet I mean how stupid is that. I work for the public they hardly ever work for public I work for dealers also. But It's just sad I mean I do better since the detailers around here are hacks butt. But there used to be some good ones around here you know and if there was at least one other decent one around here we could help each other out you know but

Autoality.com. Customer service is outstanding and packages ship the same day most of the time. The Detailer's Club membership fee can be made up in a single order. Just something to checkout, if you have not already! (not sure of the shipping costs to the west coast though). Thanks, Zeke

+Edward Bautista I was in an Advance-Auto store who informed me they sell to all the local car dealers and suggested some retail products. None of the consumer stuff I have tried works very good like you said. One of these dealers was offering $8/hr for a detailer (good luck finding someone) LOL

Darren can you please go over how you clean exhaust tips ? Thanks and you da man
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 9 жыл бұрын
Not all exhaust tips are created equal, so it depends on the material of the tip: chrome plated, machined aluminum, pot metal, etc. I use anything from steel wool, to Magic Erasers, to Scotch Brite scrub pads. It just depends on the exact situation.

Did you learn what you know about detailing on your own? Thanks
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 9 жыл бұрын
I learned most of the products through testing them myself. I learned how to develop an eye for details as a result from very picky customers who taught me little by little all the many things people focus on as their pet peeves. I have taken numerous classes for detail training, but my customers have taught me the most when it comes to dealing with them, and developing an "eye for details".

I have been detailing for 20years in Montana I buy all my chemicals from a distributor at prices that is about 50% cheaper than anywhere I have looked. The public can not buy these products unless they buy in quanity. Sorry u are miss informing people or just trying to to sell crap on your behalf.

Auto Fetish Detail You're actually a tad bit wrong on this on Darren. There are a FEW companies that offer "industry professional products only". Such as Opti-Coat/Opti-Guard Pro from Optimum. The general public cannot buy this stuff, and they even took Opti-Coat 2.0 off the market (a diluted version for consumers) just so they can reign it in even more. There are a few other specialty coating companies that do the same, and you have to sign up with them and meet minimum requirements (purchasing, liability insurance, etc). But, for the most part you are correct. 99.99% of the products used in detailing can be bought by the general public at the same pricing. Even most professionals can't meet the "wholesale" pricing of some places, but "commercial pricing" accounts do exist for most vendors. Every shop/vendor I've placed orders with or walked into has asked if I was a business or hobbyist. All I had to do was hand them a business card and they signed me up for their "wholesale" accounts. Which is what I think most people are referring to. Do you get different products? No. Better pricing? Yes... if you meet the minimum purchasing requirements. Heck, the guy I get my towels from gives better pricing for repeat customers if you email him vs. buying online.
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 9 жыл бұрын
***** Yes Jason, you essentially said most of what I was pointing out in the video. Most nubes think there is a secret "place" to get all this cool professional stuff for detailing. There are just so many variables that go into play when someone out there talks about wholesale detail supplies. I too have what many call "The good guy" price. I only get a discount for being a repeat customer and it's a case by case based on the product I am buying. Most guys starting out in the business are not even close to the level of buying enough product to worry abut it. And yes, there are a few select products as you mentioned, that you have to be "certified" in order to purchase. But once again, for the beginners, this is a non-issue as they should be concerned with far more other things.
