And people say we don't need to immunize ! This is my 3 yr old daughter who has been immunized but because so many selfish and irresponsible people chose not to make the vaccine only 20% effective. This isn't even her worst episode of coughing! Do you know how it feels to be totally helpless as a mother unable to do anything she will have this cough for a minimum of 3 months and will cough often gasping for air over and over sometimes to the point where her little body is so limp from exhaustion and crying for rest then to only have to throw up on top of that from coughing so much ! People need to wake up this can be fatal how many babies need to lose their lives because of your decisions . Adults don't even show a whoop in there cough so you could have it and don't even know it

awwww i hope she gets better they need to hospitalize under 10s for that coz my neice was nine when she got it and had asthmah and she nealy died from this because she stoped breathing not trying to worry any one though x

I can't believe I'm the only one who has commented. My son has some kind of weird cough tonight and I came to hear what pertussis sounds like. He's had his vaccination (he's 5), but I guess that doesn't mean he can't get it. Just started pre-school about a month ago and I'm worried about all that stuff that goes around. He's never even had the flu. Is your daughter any better?

No, vaccination will not prevent you or your child from catching anything. You're still vulnerable. The thing is, when someone is freshly vaccinated they have a shedding period. During that shedding period that freshly vaccinated is shedding that virus for a few weeks infecting others around them. Since children are in a small class together and "Most" have been or have freshly been vaccinated during the school year they will spread said virus around. And it becomes a vicious cycle. The best thing you can do is to make sure your child and you eat healthy, drink plenty of water, practice proper good hygiene, take vit c and stay home when sick or freshly vaccinated. Many parents could avoid these horrid viruses and spready if they educated themselves more.
