Todd thanks for putting this video together. I don't think I would have attempted it without it. Turned out to be on the easy side. My problem ended up being a mouse nest above the filter which was rubbing against the fan cage making a noise. With 280,000 miles on the Corolla I changed the blower motor since I already had everything opened and we are heading into winter. You saved me a couple hundred bucks! Thanks again.

8mm works perfectly to remove screws holding blower in place. Took me total 15min to change blower. Super super easy. Remember to wiggle electrical connection to remove from blower, don't yank or it might break. Thank you soooo much for this video :) helped a lot! P.s. cost $40 for blower/motor unit on Amazon. Also replaced breaker for blower, $10 Amazon.

Followed your video. It helped enormously. I took the blower motor out because it didn't work at any speed. I connected it to a 12V battery charger I own and the motor spun. (+) and (-) are easily seen on the plastic housing. Just as easy to connect a few feet of wire to the battery and connect it to the fan. Anyhow, the motor worked connected to the 12V charger. I reinstalled the motor and realized my electrical connection must have been faulty. As soon as I put the connection back on, it worked. Corroded connection or something - known as electrical creep. I didn't have to buy anything and it works now. Thanks. I was ready to spend a $100 on it - lol

Such a wonderful FYI. My heater blower quit working . I went to a salvage yard and practiced on their car . I easily removed the blower and was charged 8.00. Before I changed the blower motor I found that I could access the blower cavity through the air filter slot. I found enough grass stuffed in the filter cavity to fill the cage. I removed the grass and turned on the blower. Everything ran fine except for a loud noise. The pressure from the clog had bent the blower shift and bent it. I will have to replace the motor anyway. I didn't win but I learned. If yougo to a mechanic he will probably charge 250.00 to 300.00. Mine was 8.00.

Todd thank you for providing this fantastic step by step tutorial on replacing the blower fan motor for 03 Toyota Corolla. I am a female and I HATE taking my car any mechanic to get ripped off. I live in California its hot as hot feels and I just replaced the blower motor in my corolla. I ordered blower off amazon 36.00, what a great deal. Toyota dealer quoted me the entire blower assembly for 198.00 they don't sell the blower fan motor by its self, what a rip off. Thank you Todd again for empowering people to do simple things by them selves an save a lotta $$$$. Blessing to you

N N Yeah, it was intermittently working and then not working (and the fan was louder actually then it is now with the new blower in). Once it stopped working altogether (but cold still feel cold air trickling out when driving fast enough on the freeway and worth the recycle air off) I checked my fuses and also made sure the blower was getting power before switching it out,.

Good video, made the job really easy. One tip I would add is to remove the rear two star screws for the blower motor first as the OEM motor sagged and made it very difficult to get to the last rear screw. After struggling a bit, I ended up putting the front screw back and it made taking the last rear screw out really easy.

Thanks found this very helpful. I went to Garage and they wanted £75 for Diagnostic charge, the further cost for install part and then price of part which would be £250. My blower wouldn't come on at all so checked obvious fuse, tapped a few relays incase one was sticking as my blower would come on sometimes and then stay off. But not relay problem. Checked Blower Motor resistor control which looked ok which is just at back of blower with 2 screws to take off, thought may been loose solder connection or dodgy resistor but it was ok. Tapped bottom blower motor and sometimes it would come on or change speed as if it was sticking. So took blower motor off as you shown with 3 screws . Also found blower motor filter above which took out and tried cleaning as it was full of dust. I took plastic cover off blower motor back to view motor commutator and bushes also lot dust came out. So gave it good WD40 and let drip out on floor outside. I refitted and unit works fine, but it does change speed a bit on its own accord without selecting change but if you tap bottom of blower motor its goes back to normal. The bushes looked warn and comm was well worn, so do think need new one but least got it going for a bit so allows time to get part.

The screw closest to engine needs to be removed from the bottom tray before its shoved over to side, common sense but someone less mechanically inclined may break a bracket by forcing that. Also a socket can also used to take off the bottom 3 screws in addition to a star driver. Helpful video thanks!

hi blower motor on my son's car is making lot of noise. Either something got in the housing or motor is going bad. I plan to change the motor. Thank you so much for your clear and precise video. I am sure having watched it I can successfully replace the motor. Without your great tutorial I would be lost. Thank you. Best regards,

I have discovered a noise from my 2005 Toyota Corolla. It is very faint and when I slow down apply brakes it gets a little louder. However when I turn the fan off there is no noise. Tomorrow I will check the fan thanks for the video AC/DC Rocks

Thanks for the video. But before I tried anything, I first did what I usually do with repairs. I made a soft fist and hit the blower from below. And wham! It started running again! LoL I'll do that with electrical parts (softly) such as a headlight or license plate light and often it solves the problem very quickly and extremely inexpensively! hehe

@@ToddsGarage Exactly! And why I thanked you right off the bat; for future replacement knowledge. Because just like a starter being bang with a hammer to work only works a certain number of times until it no longer works.

This is one of the best on the Corolla Blower motor removal. Unfortunately, you skip over most of the hardest part - installing the motor. How do you hold up a 5-10 pound motor while you hold a screw with another hand, and hold the screwdriver with your spare hand? My solution is put short strips of duct tape from the bottom of the motor and hang them to the surrounding metal above. My problem was that my T20 screws are real short, so after hours of trying to start them into the first hole on the hole nearest the back (near me) I had an idea. I substituted a longer phillips machine screw, which was long enough to find the screw hole. After that first one was secured, it was much easier to screw in the original shorter screws into the two holes on the sides.
