Do not buy the deck that will make your space actually less space. Everyone I know that bought one has regretted and end up selling it at almost half the price. The deck system is mainly for contractors.

Get a bed extender bro it’s amazing and helps with space

We bought a TRD Sport with six foot bed because we need to carry two recumbent trikes and not use a rack. Only issue is that the extra foot makes parking a bit more difficult at times. Love the two tone of the truck.

It is our opinion that a 5’ bed is worthless. We need the 6’ bed for work and play. When we started looking for a 23 TRD Off Road with the Premium and Technology pkgs with the 6’ bed in either White, Barcelona Red, or Lunar Rock, we found it very hard. Sure there were a ton of Silver, Charcoal Grey or Black with what we were looking for, but those dark, gloomy, depressing colors became popular in 1990 and frankly those are very old and outdated colors that are super hard to keep clean. I / we like cheerful, welcoming colors that’s easy to keep clean.

More importantly you can't sleep in a 5 foot bed...lol

imo if people plan on doing a lot of city driving and have the truck as a daily driver they should get the short bed (or access cab if you want the longer bed). The DCLBs are too long for how skinny in width they are and they don't park easily like a small truck should.

I Love my 23 TRD Off Road, Double Cab 6’ bed Tacoma with the Premium and Technology pkgs. The truck was the dealerships loaner truck and had only 6K miles. The dealership installed a Tri-Fold tonneau cover and running boards. During the first week of ownership I installed a K&N intake, mud flaps and window vents. Now it’s time to personalize my Taco with 2 tone paint, TRD RED interior trim pieces without overkill. A Flowmaster FlowFX turn down exhaust, Bronze wheels, Overland Torque Tune, Katzkin TRD Red Leather with black trim and stitching. (My friend who also owns a 23 TRD is buying my black factory leather to install in his Taco because he has grey cloth interior. Power Running Boards, full skid plates. (The factory skid plates aren’t thick enough). The list is long on my plans for my Tacoma, but in time it’ll be completed. I only drive 6-7K miles per year and at my age my Tacoma will outlast me.

Gotta learn some space management. I have the 5’ as well and can fit what’s needed for a camp trip. Having that extra tub will help some. Just plan out the trips. Lol.

The short bed sucks. A truck is for hauling stuff in the bed. If I want a people hauler, I'll get an suv.

4-door man…4-door. 2-doors means that you have one door for the driver and one door for the passenger. You have a…4 DOOR vehicle

An extra foot isn't gonna do much if you plan on carrying around that much stuff for camping. You will just keep buying more so you should invest into a bed cap and call it a day. I know they don't look that good but if your using the truck for camping why does it matter what others think 🤔

You could definitely add storage space but throwing a roof rack and what I have a hitch rack from harbor freight! $99 and I got a decent rack to throw couple bins or coolers on. That being said, I’m actually gonna sell my 2020 TRD off road 5ft bed in black and look for my second Tacoma, a 6ft bed in cement, lunar rock or army green! If you look up All terrain Family on KZfaq. He shows how to build your own simple decked system. Super cheap and easy.

I like the 5ft bed unless I buy the access cab I'm still debating which truck I want to buy, I do not intend to haul anything heavy.

Spend 500 and build your own "decked" system. It'll weigh less too. Better yet. Build yourself a small cabin for thr back of your taco for about 1000.

I love my DCLB. The extra 1.2’ makes a huge difference.

Plus I bought a topper for it. Are fiberglass and they cost more, but you can get them to match your truck. It is as high as the cab
