I wonder if the “hesitation” is a setting, rather than inherent to the device. In college I worked at a grocery store, and we had 2 or 3 scooters for peoples use, and people crashed them pretty often, once breaking a wine rack with several hundred dollars worth of wine. Those ones were pretty torquey. A gradual start might make some people more confident about using one.

You might consider the Liberty Trike - more expensive but much more versatile and easier to transport (foldable, reasonably light weight, & fun).

Darn Russ just seen a video on Area 13’s KZfaq he featured a clip of the lady who complained about you being in the bike path. He also stated he’s sending you one of his E bikes! Good for you, looking forward to seeing videos of you using his E Bike.

Both my parents had mobility issues into their mid 80’s. This scooter is an excellent way to enhance mobility and go further distances

Believe me, I could not have done Washington DC without it! I rode my scooter (not this Metro model... my original scooter) all over Washington DC while my wife walked it. By the end of 3 days, she was so tired out whereas I didn't have any issues at all. Getting the scooter on their Metro transport trains was easy too. Just ride right up into the train!

@@RussIsRight This reminds me of my Mom utilizing the scooter at Costco (she had broken her foot) She plowed into displays and scattered people in the isles laughing the whole time me included 😂

Those Costco scooter move really slowly. This one goes almost 5 mph… a fast walking pace. My old scooter was the same in speed. My photography students could not keep up with me on the photography field trips!

You could consider a three wheel cargo e-bike for recreational rides.

A power chair will do everything a scooter will and won’t tip over easily. I rode a scooter after being used to a power chair. I leaned to the side to pick something up and fell over. That needs to be known before riding a scooter. Power chairs don’t have that difficulty.

Sorry you tipped over. Power chairs are nice, but of course, much more expensive that this scooter. But yes, leaning over the side of the scooter like that would likely make you tip over.

I'm still struggling with my knee. The replacement is loose, I have a torn pcl, and I have fluid on my knee. I was supposed to have surgery on August 29. But the owner of the house I rent sold it to a real estate investor, and he's not renewing my lease. I asked the new owner if he could give me another month so I could have my knee surgery He said no. So I had to cancel my surgery because of the move. So we are moving from Florida to Michigan at the end of this month. Once I get settled up there, I'll get the surgery. I'm so disappointed. I've been dealing with this for over two years, and I'm ready for this knee issue to be done!!!!

Russ, this comment doesn't have anything to do with Mobility Scooter, but I just saw where Area13 played a portion of one your videos and offered to send you one of his very cool E-Bikes. I just thought that was awesome. * about 7 hours ago i posted this comment with a link to the video but I noticed the comment didn't show up. Is that what normally happens when you post a link; KZfaq removes the comment? Does the comment go to a "to be approved" area and stays there until video creator approves it or something? I probably never posted a link before so didn't know what the results would be.

Hey Russ, I have a off topic question. I see alot of videos about hub vs mid drive motors. What is your opinion? Thanks Russ

I have not tried a mid-drive motor ebike as of yet. The hub-drive motors are on more "less expensive" bike and more prominent. Essentially, you can have a throttle on a hub drive ebike whereas most mid-drive bikes don't have them. The new Lectric XPremium however does. Really, for most mid-drive motor bikes, you have to pedal if you want to move. Not so with throttles on the hub-drive bikes. Many feel the power transfer on mid-drives are superior, so going over hills, the mid-drive should do better... but again, you must pedal to do it.

Mid-drive have much higher torque at the same power rating (up to double), but the motor is directly driving the “chain” (belt in some cases) and so you have to cycle through the gears or risk damage. That’s the reason many of them don’t do throttles. Hub is independent of the chain drive, so you can do whatever you want with the motor irrespective of what gear you are in. Lots of people find that easier to live with, and it’s generally cheaper. If torque really matters, mid-drive is the best, so that’s what mountain bikes use.

Well, the knee was replaced already, there is still the other knee. So far, it has been ok… just not perfect. And let’s not mention the hips that seem to have issues, probably from being overweight.

I measured mine... it is 17.5 inches. The width of the arm rests are adjustable and can go wider.

@@paulketchum6819 If he keeps getting more e bikes, he will need to cut back on riding times for each one, there'll be just too many for reviewing. Plus he'll need more Bikeroo saddles.
