To be honest he started this project way before the movie BLACK PANTHER was released. Pple didn't understand at first, but when the movie dropped, that was when he started referring to Wakanda as an example. Well Western powers came and we were too kind to them, they incorporated their political system, educational system, and corrupted our leaders telling them that they were in Africa to teach about Christianity. That's why a lot of African presidents are corrupt, the residue is still very much there.

@@kwesinjoku8940 I quite honestly don't remember enough about African history to argue with you and what you say actually makes sense, I've been to Ghana in the 90's when my father was managing a gold mine and those people were incredibly kind and hospitable.... If there was no , or at least little corruption amongst leaders, before the Europeans came, when will Africa find its roots again? Will Akons city help? I had a friend of African heritage try to do something similar to this in 2004 or so and he could not get past the politicians with their hands out... It was not in Senegal though....

My brother was airplane mechanic in Dakar, he lived there for 4 years! The biggest problem in Africa is the governments way over taxing businesses making it impossible to grow the business some how Akon is getting around that and growing his power companies. There is a great video with a women who owns a lip gloss business and talks about it (not Akon but taxes) and also talks about how Tom's shoes but African shoe makers out of business. Hopefully they don't have to displace people like with the airport where they showed up with guns and told people to move. My brother went thru the transitions of airports and was told a lot of bad stories about it. Also when they built the African Renaissance Monument instead of training and employing Senegalese they hired North Koreans to build it. Hopefully Akon does the country right! Senegal is full of amazing people and they deserve it! Most were very kind to my bro who was one the very few westerns there.
