Alaska is the greatest place I ever been too. I am from Germany and get homesick everytime I think about it. Consider it my second home since years as I have friends there where I am always welcome. Made it 8 times to Alaska so far but I am not so keen to travel the lower 48 ;-)

I've been to both Sitka and Juneau to visit friends while on vacation, and from just those two locations, I hope one day to get to see the vast interior of Alaska.

I'd like to visit Alaska one day soon, if only to experience the wildlife, and the rugged landscape, truly America's last frontier I believe, nice video montage.

Alaska is an incredible place. Just returned to Florida and from the moment I got off the plane was thinking about when I could return. Florida = flat, Flat = boring. Seriously though, every time I stepped outdoors, there was something in sight to take one's breath away. I enjoyed the people, very friendly and funny. The extremes in daylight & dark can be easily overcome. The winters, well, that takes some getting used to but it all comes down to what you want from the place in which you live.

@onlyoneak I have never been there, but I would NEVER ask why. I'm sure the pictures don't even begin to do it justice. And according to the pictures, it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. I'm SERIOUSLY considering moving there in a few years.

Henry David Thoreau said: "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had nor lived".

one of my goals in life is to see alaska someday. i would especially love to get the opportunity to hunt and/or fish there, although simply going there would be awesome enough. do you have any suggestions as to where the best place would be for me to get the full experience of alaska and it's beautiful landscape and wildlife?

You'll more than likely arrive in Anchorage, don't stay there long, Fairbanks is a bore as well. Hit up Denali, Homer, Seward, Kenai just to name a few places that are really nice.

Really? What would you suggest I do while I'm there? I absolutely love the wilderness and being outdoors. Like I said I love to hunt and fish, I enjoy wildlife in general also viewing it, camping, hiking and exploring. Do you know how much it is for a non resident fishing license? Any suggestions or ideas you have feel free to send them my way! You can message me, thanks!

You will love coming up here, Don't think that you're going to have the really big city life up here. It's pleasant, there's clean air, You dont have as much problems as you do in the lower 48, Except for some serious drunk driving. other than that this place is paradise

@freakpanic Of course Alaska is a state of America, and according to the latitudes, it's more Northern than Iceland, Sweden and Finland. Except for Russia but hardly anyone lives that far North there; Moscow is lower. Yes I know China is large, I use to live there, but Google "Earth map Night lights" and see where population is concentrated.. most of China is rocky mountain and deserts from mid to west. In fact, the Gobi desert in China is one of largest in the world.
