15 mins? 2 hours? What the hell are they talking about? Any trained sniper who has passed sniper school, especially a navy seal sniper, is trained to make their own suits from leafs and sticks and other local materials, and bury themselves in a position for periods of several days at a time without moving a muscle. 15 min lol. That’s hilarious. You have to be there days before your enemy arrives, and stay until everyone is gone. They are trained to do this for prolonged periods. Maybe just a regular sniper in Iraq/Afghanistan who isnt in deep cover would not be required to stay in that position for extended periods of time because they could be swapped out with someone else. But not in deep cover or foreign territories.

@babuuu5474 I wasn't clear but I didn't say Craig Harrison is RM. I said he was once the record holder for the longest kill. An anonymous RM has the highest kill count. Craig Harrison is British Army and who cares who built his rifle. The point is the US doesn't have any of these records they boast about. its more likely Canadians, British and Australians, which is surprising.

I took a class where they introduced us to the "4 30" drill. You had to make 4 shots during a 30 minute time period, but the targets were only available for 1 second at completely random intervals. At about 10 minutes in, you're pretty uncomfortable. After 15, legs are sleeping. After 20, your arms are done and it's just downhill from there. You had to learn how to tune all that noise out and do the task at hand. Fun times.

I remember o e time we were all hanging out day one so we are catching up, but out of nowhere this group of non military guys comes up lead by one that had been chocked out before. The guy says all these guys want to be chocked out by you. The military group bursts into laughter. The guy who has been chocked before says well we told them it is a right of passage. Of course we are all on board with it and Chris gives his smirk as he stands, “whose first?” I miss him, he and I would check in on each other from time to time. What your sgt is talking about are people who think they know what they are doing most likely don’t but there are some who need little to no instruction. I took that as a sign and went to school. We are making two different points that are related but not the same. Yes the military uses hunting, camping, tracking, navigating, hiking, climbing, etc. but you are 100 percent correct any instructor would love to have a fresh batch of clay they can mold. Old incorrect habits are hard to break. There is an interesting story of a baseball player who was avg at batting. Good enough to be on the team but not a super star. He got into a car accident and got amnesia. One of the things he forgot was how to bat. So he had all the muscle development but no fundamentals the couches were able to show him how to hit with proper mechanics and bc he had no bad habits he ended up being an all star.

Yes, Chris Kyle was a Navy SEAL, but he also happened to be a prolific serial liar. Considering the trove of stories told by Mr. Kyle that already have been discredited by personnel in the United States Department of Navy, the United States Department of Army, the United States Special Operations Command as well as U.S. law enforcement, it is highly probable that MANY of Kyle’s stories were fabricated. The bottom line is that Chris Kyle fabricated a story about Jesse Ventura AND accused him of treason. Then, Mr. Kyle used that fabricated story as a marketing tool to sell his book….AND to generate millions of dollars in income to line his bank account. The big picture of Chris Kyle’s extensive web of fabricated stories clearly speaks for itself. Therefore: * I’m believing the word of the United States Department of Navy over the word of Chris Kyle. * I’m believing the word of the United States Special Operations Command over the word of Chris Kyle. * I’m believing the word of Army Lieutenant General Russell Honore over the word of Chris Kyle. * I’m believing the word of the Johnson County Sheriff over the word of Chris Kyle. * I’m believing the word of Johnson County District Attorney over the word of Chris Kyle. *I’m believing the word of the Coronado Police Department over the word of Chris Kyle.

There is something disturbing about the story of Chris Kyle. Either he really was such deeply committed to protecting his comrades or, like any functional psychopath, he just enjoying looking through the scope, enjoying to have power to pull the trigger and kill someone, knowing that any person on his crosshair isn't aware of his presence and knowledge that target will be dead when he decide that he has a good conditions to send its bullet right to the target. I don't speak of killing armed insurgents nor their known accomplices, but civilians he assessed as "enemy combatants" without any reason. That feeling of almost divine power - he decides when to kill someone is a powerful trip, and when the goals disappear, personal demons appear, in the form of PTSD, "withdrawing from addiction of killing" because he got addicted to war and killing as an any human addicted on drugs, booze, gamble, etc..That's why the demons kept coming back. By working with other soldiers with severe forms of PTSD, and for which he had neither possessed the knowledge nor the training, he may have been trying to "feed" the demons through war stories and memories.. If the story of killing people affected by a natural disaster in New Orleans is true, where claiming that as a civilian he was "helping" the citizens of New Orleans by killing as a civilian what he believed to be looters - then he committed multiple murders for which he should have been prosecuted. BTW, there were other, much more important ways to help the community. I remember a story where an ex-Navy SEAL swam and pushed a boat with old and infirm people he found, searched for and brought necessary medication from their homes, and I literally lifted them all to safety on the flat roof of a sturdy building so that the helicopter crews could see them more easily , and then went back to look for other people who needed help. For me, he is a greater hero, because any fool can take someone else's life, but only well-bred people with good hearts, those who know the difference between good and evil, can save other people's lives.

This comment needs more attention. 165 Kills, in perspective that’s wiping out distribution centers employees for a big retailer. I work at a distribution center with 40 employees and imagining 4 times the employees wiped is insane.

"Civilians he assessed as enemy combatants" is the only thing I disagree with here. It was a guerilla war. Not too different from Vietnam. Both opposing forces used tactics that we view as unfathomable. Like using women and children to carry explosives. Any judgement that he made cannot be placed on him. It should be placed on the old white bastards that sent the military there in the first place. I do understand that our military has done fucked up things. But blaming a soldier for thinking a civilian is a threat during guerilla warfare is ridiculous.

You cannot convince me even 75% of them were dangerous. If I lived there I’d fucking carry an AK because I need it. That makes me an enemy combatant. And I’m no sissy, you can grind everything to a hault making sure everything is kosher, but damn dude I imagine how many civilians died.
