People generally do the right thing after they've tried everything else. There's nothing wrong with humanity that can't be solved by what's right with humanity. Other countries were founded by history and America was founded by philosophy.

+Franklin Falco I pledge allegiance to the world that can be. Each of these sayings is as relevant to the rest of the world as it is to America.

+Franklin Falco : "Other countries were founded by history and America was founded by philosophy." It's not your fault, but this an incredibly ignorant thought inherent to the western world (which I'm a part of, by the way). There were philosophers making the earth tremble with new ideas before our beloved Descartes and Hegel came about. I agree with your point that eventually, we'll get it right. Dropping the assumption that every other nation except America came to be by acting as empiricist dogs - while the noble American reasoned his (always a 'his') way to the top - would be a huge step in getting there.

+eva linea I didn't necessarily mean that being founded on history is inherently inferior. History books talk about America's violent past, although there are inconsistencies such as how people know about the Vietnam but not the Korean war. British imperialism isn't mentioned in shows like Downton Abbey, and Indian Summer shows it to a certain extent. It hinders American unity that we have only about 240 years of history and some other countries may have thousands. South Sudan was literally founded in 2011 and Canada was founded in the 1800's but we're still among the youngest countries in the world even though we're the world oldest continuous democracy because there have been more revolutions in other countries throughout history.
