Why and where do senescent cells form?

Cellular senescence is one of the nine hallmarks of aging. The prevalence seems to increase with age and may even enhance the aging process. But how much evidence is there to support this? Why do we need to identify senescent cells? And how can we identify senescent cells - where do they form? Well, in this video we will touch on all of these questions as we discuss one of my FAVOURITE topics cellular senescence - especially because this article came out recently that has developed a new genetic tool to identify potentially a different flavour of senescent cells - is their clearance also beneficial - well, you’ll know the answer by the end of the video.

I'm 32 year old boy, so fun fact if to combine p16 with p21 we get 37. My age 32 + 37 = 69. I think it's an important sign from higher power but I don't know how to interpret it.

Hello - thanks for update with very latest on senolytics. I know Mayo is studying fisetin and the D&Q Combi for removal. Do you have any ideas on best natural senolytics besides fisetin and timing when might have some indication for partial benefits for humans?

I'm certain there is an intricate and complex relationship between hair growth and senescent cells. Getting rid if them may cause hair loss?? I just wish you could address this. I'm a senior citizen wanting to grow very very long hair. Why don't you do a whole segment on hair growth and any research with that?

How much difference is there in cell( type) population in p16 rich senecent cells and p21? Are there like more senecent or less senecent cells?

Eleanor if you could sometime explain the different kinds of senescent cells and how we can distinguish "good" ones from "bad" ones. According to Dr. Campesi we only want to remove the bad ones with senolytic drugs but she never really explains what this means. P16 vs P21 expression may distinguish two types but how many different types are there?

Thank you for this video. I think what happens is that an increase in inflammation causes a reduction in NF-κb which causes a reduction in SLC25A1 which reduces the number of citrate carriers which causes the differentiation of stem cells to fail more often and those turn in to senescent cells which then increases inflammation. Obvoiusly those would not be all senescent cells, but I think it would be a substantial proportion. Noting that the Naked Mole Rats don't really have that many it is consistent.

Oddly enough I think it is the anti-inflammatory Interleukin-10 in SASP that drives this.

I think the greatest strength of your channel Eleanor is also your greatest weakness - it's very informative and not speculative at all, almost every second is about what's happening right now. If you ever want to try speculation though, it would be interesting to see where you think the field is heading!

There are plenty of channels that will satisfy your need. Isn’t it obvious where the field is heading? We have Rejuvant alpha-ketoglutarate on the market now. Let’s concentrate on facts and current knowledge. I’m anxiously waiting for James Kirkland’s Fisetin study results. Let’s not speculate and be wrong.

Wow ! I am focusing on "Zombie Cells" at Hypothalamus (Human), where administration of "aging" is located as identified already. To "Slow Aging" before "age related chronic conditions" can set in, I want to identify either a consistent "Synolytic conjugate" or a "Exosome" that can be delivered via a "pill" taken daily as a "dream solution". How ? What clinical "success story" so far in 2024+ Going forward ? Talk OK ?
