Sir being an engineer, what I feel is when the phone is updated, the phone get's introduced to a new software or a new version of Android wich are based on the newer cores and architecture. Which our phone's don't have, so companies have to make the software for our old CPUs, hence it won't give same performance as a newly bought phone after an year or so. The answer is easy-most of the smartphone companies push software updates to slow their phones down,so that they want the customer to upgrade Eg. My dad's asus m1 is still very fast,even after 3 years while my note 5 pro became very slow and laggy
