I imagine sorcery in other parts of the world is likely pretty similar to real world sorcery. Jujutsu is already incredibly similar to existing religious ideas. Something like a cursed technique based on the Lemegeton- it would probably function similarly to the ten shadows. With the hundreds of demons within it. If Mahoraga is that strong I would not want to know how powerful Bael or Asmoday would be considering how they represent two parts of human behavior itself. Binding vows may be incredibly important, as in western sorcery you see a lot of only being able to preform certain spells on certain hours or on certain days. I had the theory that a Christian exorcism would be a reverse cursed technique, but now I think about it. It would probably be a simple domain. Grimorium Verum is another text uses to summon demons. Bael appears in that again as Beezlebub, Asataroth is present, and Lucifer's iconic summon sighn is quite litteraly from that book. Those are just three of many. If anyone possesed a cursed technique- I would imagine this would be the most powerful Shikigami summoning technique available. Beezlebub would without any doubt dog walk mahoraga. If you know anything about Caanite mythology you know why. This is assuming they would be Shikigami though. We saw Tamamo no Mea was a Curse- which leads me to believe that demons like Belphelgor, Andras, Farcas, Beleth, Belial, Lucifer, Beezlebub, and (Possibly Asmoday- I will discuss him in a moment) would be curses. Someone like Asmoday would likely be a cursed object. It was said he was close to Solomon in some texts, but in almost every interation wasnt fully demon. I think it would be a stretch to say a cursed womb, but definitely something more than human. More like Sukuna. There are also mentions of heredity based abilities. Think of the Messiah. Think of Solomon's Wisdom. Jesus is accordingly depended from Solomon and David, of which Solomon was historically given all the same gifts by Sheba that Jesus received from the three magi. In the case of Solomon's wisdom, Solomon can easily give his son the wisdom but cannot give it to anyone else since they cannot comprehend it without the archangel's permission. I bring this up, because Solomon would likely be the Gojo of western sorcery. He has multiple cursed techniques and cursed tools- This was a bit of rambling but my fan conjecture and headcannon finally got the chance to express some of my ideas here so I did.

That’s why I love Jujutsu Kaisen 🥰. But I kinda hoped that Gege expanded outside of Japan because think about the unique abilities of foreign sorcerers. Also any powerful sorcerer from the world can probably do what Tengen did… but also at the cost of amplifying curse spirits as well as sorcerers born. Also your knowledge on the occult is impressive 👏👏👏. What I love about JJK too is that its theory of curse spirits coming from negative emotions of humans is true in real life as well. The gods, angels, demons, nature spirits, etc. are true but they’re also a part of the human psyche. To me every human in the world are sorcerers but it takes endless practice to be recognized as one. Of course it sucks that JJK abilities is only an exaggeration of what real sorcerers can do, but who knows 🤷🏽‍♂️

While Tengen is the forced narrative reason to make it “make sense”, I really do also think this is Gege’s social commentary on Japan culturally. Japan is unfortunately known for having one of the highest suicide rates in the world, and there are a lot of reasons for that ranging from intense schooling to lifeless corporate jobs to the extremely duty-bound moral framework that most Japanese people think in terms of (and there are more reasons than those too). Just for one example narratively speaking, a character like Nanami also embodies some of these concepts.

All of this is hand-waving for the real reason: The author did not want to deal with the consequences of multi-national jujutsu society. Cuz if the whole world had sorcerers, naturally the audience would wonder why aren't other nations sending in their sorcerers to help with the sukuna problem? Having a multi-national jujutsu society would trivialize sukuna, who is meant to be the big-bad boss. It would also trivialize what kenjaku is doing. Another point: It's already ludicrous that there is a secret society of wizard people and somehow, through some miracle, they keep their existence a secret from the populace. Adding multiple nations with their own sorcerers just makes it that much harder to suspend the disbelief of this secret being maintained.

I think the idea of a limiting factor on human potential when it comes to curses is pretty interesting. I hope we delve into why Tengen went down the path she did before the end of the series, and how she relates to Kenjaku and Sukuna. I think they have a very interesting trio thing going on where Tengen is the bedrock and amplifier of jujutsu, Kenjaku the scientist, and Sukuna the self-involved warrior-monk who is likely emblematic of why things went to shit (you can't count on people to use their gifts to the betterment of others). I suspect originally Tengen had the idea of strengthening cursed users so they would be able to create a better world and Sukuna, being represented as this sort of prodigy, was perhaps taught by Tengen and seen as a leader who could inact this vision because of his strength, but he rejected her idea of the future of jujutsu. This would make sense given his status as "the fallen one" and serve to emphasize what the series has already pointed out in terms of the differences between those who use their power to advance society (Gojo) and those who leave nothing but destruction in their wake (Sukuna).

Keep in mind that Japan is the exception, not the rule. Most Sorcerers from around the world appear only as unique individuals or families with only one of two per country, and while they can control Curse Energy just as well, but they won't crazy abilities like Limitless or Ten Shadows, instead being more basic and straitforward, think Miguel or Larue, who have very simple techniques. Even some Japanese Sorcerers have pretty plain techniques, like Momo and Arata, who have very basic abilities. Japan has more Sorcerers and more powerful Sorcerers because it's easier to become one and have a powerful technique, while the rest of the world is what's to be expected. Other foreign Sorcerers are Charles and Reggie, who do have very good techniques, but they basically boil down to future vision and summoning, with Reggie requiring a surplus of physical items in order to do anything

@AhmadKazan-wkei That kinda makes sense but it still leaves the question about the rest of the world. Like are 100s of Americans getting randomly killed by weaker cursed spirits? But at that point someone should at least try to help the other nations, right? The marginal trade-offs of the barriers imply the death by weaker spirits going on around the rest of world are too high for Japan to ignore. Or am I missing something?

Ngl this is one major thing about JJK that I don’t like. I would love to see an American Jujutsu Society that operates completely differently from the one in Japan. Different families that date back to old time periods that carry there own unique CT’s. I would love to see it. But for some reason authors keep doing this whole “it takes place in Japan” thing. Demon Slayer does this too.

With demon slayer, if Muzan operated over the entire world, finding him would be even harder than it already is

Why would Demon Slayer NOT do it? It makes sense for that world. There is almost no physically possible way multiple nationalities of people are going to be in Japan fighting demons. Reminds me of a conversation I had with someone, where someone asked why there weren't any black Demon Slayers. Because it takes place during the Taisho period, specifically 1912 - 1926. There just isn't any historical records of black people in Japan (though notably, during Japan's big economic miracle after WW2, black students came down to learn). Besides, the rest of the world had bigger things to be dealing with. Like, you know, World War 1.

because of nationalism. It is the same logic of most aliens invasions only happening on the US and only the US being able to solve the isue.

@@TheManBehindtheFunny yeah I understand the demon slayer one but still. For JJK that just feels like it’s limiting the world down.

@@coldblizzard5880 Oh no, it does suck for JJK. Definitely could be getting some interesting character from more diverse places, but we just aren't. It'd be neat if JJK had a Jojo thing going on, where after this story, we go over to a different location. Like London or something.

So basically cause of tengen they have more jujutsu sorcerers that are also stronger but also cause of him there are more advanced cursed spirits loke the disaster curses and in general more curses overall so basically japan is on fire mostly cause of tengen need i remind u sukuna's fingers absorbed more and more CE over the 1000 years basically in heian era he was also way weaker since he had a lot less CE why exactly do they want to protect him so much at this point kill the guy he is clearly the root of everything even kenjakus plan revolves mostly on him

Racism. The story is set in Japan. You don't just handwave that away and then explain something that has no baring on reality. The AUTHOR is from Japan and only gives af about Japan... so his story is set there and it's the only place that matters. If it was written by an American author all sorcerers would be from NYC or some shlt. Dumb video.

That’s not racism lol. “Write about what you know” is a basic writing trope. Also, have you ever considered that Gege might be intentionally providing cultural commentary on Japan because he’s familiar with how it feels to live there and function in that society? What a small perspective you have.

@@j.prt.979 You missed the whole point so you could go on a completely pointless tirade about something that was not the intention. Your sensitivity to the completely inconsequential choices of words of me, a nobody on the internet, reveals far more about you than you seem to realize.
