I grow up in China and lived in US for decades. Knowing both policies here is what I finally understood. In China, the policy is controlled by government but in Western countries it’s controlled by rich people. China believes the government represents people while western countries believe Capitalism which puts money first. In the end, China’s policy is power first, money second and people third. While western countries are always money first, power second and then people. As you can see, if we are just ordinary people there is almost no differences between two different policies. Now you know China will never allow individual capitalist takes over the country’s policy as it against China’s true policy. And also, China believes Capitalists only work for the benefits of individuals while government works for the benefits of all of the people. Back to the question, Jack Ma over estimates himself and his economic power while he didn’t understand that’s because Chinese government needs him to help economy but not to take over the country’s power.

interesting analysis and you are probably on to something here. The big question for me is how much the CCP can continue to pull this gangster moves and get away with. At what point will various sectors of Chinese society have enough with the their BS, throw them out of power and create a more transparent system? While it is true that money and capitalists dominate American society, I like to say that America just has legalized corruption. Corporations have to document how much money they donate to politicians and, for the most part, Americans know which tycoon is influencing what. In China, who really knows what the government is doing? No common person can even say, for sure, where Ma Yun (Jack Ma) is right now...that's a major problem and shows, once again, that China does not practice the rule of law. The Chinese government is, instead, run like a mafia and goes after whoever they want, whenever they want. It's terribly sad.

Jiang Zemin's son have a lot of stake in Alibaba and Ant financial group and a lot of Shanghai group people have money with Ant group so if IPO GOES successful they will have money means they will have more power means Danger for XiJing pin. Corruption is never the real problem it is symptom of real problem that is concentration of power at few hands. And if people think XiJing pin is not corrupt they should look at his relatives and friends

The diff between bribery and lobbying is that one prohibits to bet on multiple parties. The legalized bribery(lobbying) can make you many friends from diff sides which allows you to stay beyond all if you got money. Whereas bribery ties you to particular one and when the wind changes the direction, you might very likely to be in trouble. But anyways, who doesn’t have dark secrets? China does scrutinize these billionaires and US turns away since the politicians are controlled by the big guys
