Youre absolutely right. My Cousin is a stewardess & she met her millionaire husband in Hongkong & now they have 3 beautiful kids. They built a mansion in Neg. occ. & they have a private resort & a vacation house right there in the beach

I'm a Filipino-American living in So.Cal and have lived here for 40+ years. I've visited the Philippines for the past 2 years. After the first visit, all I could think about is my next visit. Life is much simpler and found myself happier.

Listen, I am exactly like you. I live in Las Vegas and work in San Diego as well, reading your comments while driving from SoCal - Vegas. This life that you and I have been chasing, amongst others, here in the west: it’s just too much damn work, it’s too artificial, and we’re not rewarded with sweet feminine women and respect.after my first few trips to the Philippines, it’s all about, now I’m leaving in a week to go visit Japan, Philippines, and Thailand. The US has gotten so bad I don’t wanna come back until I’ve burned at least $10,000 one way or the other, or if my savings diminish too much, but I will do everything I can to stay out of the USA forever.

There are plusses and minuses for both arguments. My wife of 10+ years is from Cebu and we reside in NE Texas. I retired well 2 years ago. I asked her several times if she wants to relocate back to a nice area in the Philippines. She has consistently said no. Yes, it's expensive to live in NE Texas ($80,000.00 a year) but we live very, very well. What is the major upside for us? Texas is a big dang state and within it we have beaches, the Hill Country, pristine state and national parks, cheap fuel, cheap utilities,a mostly non-corrupt police, a mostly non-corrupt local and state government, easy shopping, easy access to healthcare, etc. I'm into my Harley's big time: in Texas a 300 mile ride at 70 mph is just a short jaunt. Not possible in PI. Also in the P.I there is an electronic I.D. tied to your smart phone that isn't optional. You have to have it to be able to function. That is the main deal breaker for me. If you're happy I'm happy for you. But for many, many folks (about 340,000,000) the U.S. is still the "go to" place to live and be happy.

Yup, I’ve been here in Cebu for most of the last 8 years. I’d love to have a nice house with a pool overlooking the sea, but to do that I’d have to complicate my life by getting married. Between the lack of western food options, the pollution and traffic and poverty, I’m considering going back to the U.S., buying a nice home in NC ($600-700k gets you a very nice home on a half acre in a suburban town outside The research triangle). Plenty of great country roads for cycling and motor biking, all the healthy western food I could want and no air pollution. And then I’ll travel half of each year and use the summers in NC to stay healthy and in great fitness. Having wealth, to me, is about having choices and freedom, and full-time living in The Philippines is a bit too small of a life for me anymore. Happily, in my time here my net worth has more than tripled from riding my US-based stock portfolio (Apple, IBM, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Tesla, etc). The last couple years has been very good to such stocks as the AI boom has played out.

@@Rwj378 Something I discovered when my wife moved to Texas: there is a large Filipina community already here in our city. Never knew that. In San Diego there has to be thousands of good, decent,Filipina's who are open to a relationship with a good man. Either way best of luck in your life's journey. Oh, my daily driver is a Ram 1 ton dually, crew cab, long bed,4 wheel drive. Regular Texas size truck lol.

Well. I was not in a good relationship here at least in my opinion. Just felt used and trapped and wondered all the time where are these wonderful girls? I'm not in a relationship anymore and ... I never want to be. But now the Pi is finally starting to feel like Thailand to me. Very slowly. People leave me alone. And I love that and appreciate that. I plan to bounce all around SE Asia. I get more out of that by myself. I was married for 30 years and she's dead now. But the more I am alone, the more I think maybe that was the way I was always supposed to be. Everyone is different. My message is do what makes you feel good not what everyone else is doing. Their fun could be your misery. Find your fun.

Im Filipina grew up there. Islands knows each other even by family names. We knew who are millionnaires or average but people are not impressed with anyone materialistic. Joke expression was when a person dies it’s ends up a skeleton and smiling. So no need to be heavy handed. People distance from you, an outcasts in the community. So everyone low key are more accepted and admired. It’s community and helping each other in times of needs and it’s cultural.

2 big reasons immediately come to mind. First, most wealthy Americans are self-made men. Came from poor or middle-class backgrounds. Regular Joe's. Second, people who really have money view it differently than most. Money isn't that important to me, I can always get more. What is valuable to me is my time. No matter what, I can never get more time. Why the Philippines? These people have very little money, but they may be among the happiest in the world. Maybe, just maybe, they know something we don't...

Great hat, good video. I like it here in the Philippines. I think if I had millions I'd probably winter here and spend my summers bouncing around Europe. I'm nowhere near millionaire status, but living here in the Philippines allows me to save enough out of my retirement income to go back to the US for a visit every 5 or 6 months. If I lived in the US there's no way I'd be able to come to the Philippines or anywhere else every 5 or 6 months.

that's what I thought.... looks more like a helmet.... interesting.... the pith helmet has actually roots in the Philippines: "The pith helmet, also known as the safari helmet, salacot, sola topee, sun helmet, topee, and topi is a lightweight cloth-covered helmet made of sholapith. The pith helmet originates from the Spanish military adaptation of the native salakot headgear of the Philippines." [wikipedia]

You made some good comments. A lot of well-off American men worked in the rat race, endured a spoiled ex-wife and now face a government and society that criticizes them for their hard work and success. You often see it in the comments of these vlogs. Many of them don't really care about fancy things and impressing people. They're leaving the US for a simpler life with some amount of anonymity, and a woman who is vastly different than American women.

THE EXPERIENCE IN LIFE YOU HAVE FOR $3K IN THE PHILS IS WAY WAY BETTER THAN IN THE USA BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES. IN AMERICA PEOPLE GET ANGRY EASILY. THEY WILL SMILE AT YOU BUT WHEN YOURE AWAY, THEY GET ANNOYED AT YOU. SOME PEOPLE ARE DEPPRESSING AND BI-POLAR. ITS HARD TO DEAL THE ATTITUDE OF AMERICAN PEOPLE. Because all the stress we endured to become wealthy took a toll on us. Coming here allows for a new start and to get away from the political BS back in the west. It's great to go somewhere else and have anew of everything. Start from scratch and build the happiness the way we want it to be. Don't need to show anything off, just live the life we want and no worries what anyone thinks of us. Mainly, we just want to live a normal life without having to listen to judgement from others on how they think we should live our life because of what's in our bank account.

Makes me wonder too. They might come here to play, and/or find a partner, whom they wish to keep here and not migrate, but not move all their assets, meaning their mobile if anything untoward happens. Of course that's just speculative, though, since they have many more options than the rest of us.
