Was wondering what temp for the flat iron? Love this video I’m getting ready to start a few dreads for accents in my hair.

Start with a lower setting and bump it up if you feel like you need to.

Hi! Thank you so much for these tutorials. I have used a wet wash cloth and a hair straightener to seal my locs - but they become hard and “crunchy”? Did I use too much heat? I was wondering what I did wrong!
@doctoredlocks
@doctoredlocks Жыл бұрын
You are so welcome! It sounds like you may not have had the cloth wet enough. It's the steam that will be doing the work.

Hello I was wondering if you could answer a question. I have just made some synthetic dreadlocks myself and I wondering if I should wash them before I install them into my hair?

I followed this tutorial, however after a few days of having them installed, they became super hairy and entangled a lot, any thoughts on how to better take care of them?
@doctoredlocks

It's possible they didn't get a good seal set. It's important to cold them until they are completely cooled. Over time they will loosen up. If you send a pic to our text line, I might be able to help you troubleshoot further. Text 929.352.0876

Is the Jiffy Steamer Proline Commerical Wig Steamer J4000W the best one to use? Or which one are you currently using?
@doctoredlocks
@doctoredlocks 7 жыл бұрын
The J4000 is the one I use now. I was surprised to see the difference between the J2 and the J4000. The J4000 holds a consistent steam spray for much longer, and it just purrs where the J2 can get sputtery. Because I've used both, I'm a bit spoiled by the ease of use of the J4000. It would be hard to go back. If you can afford it, I would definitely try it. Amazon has them on Prime, so if it doesn't rock your socks, you can always send them back - the wig attachment is always separate.

Can someone clarify does this also tighten the dreads?
@doctoredlocks

Can you still wash them ??
@doctoredlocks
@doctoredlocks 5 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. You will focus most of your attention on getting the scalp cleaned since the dreads are synthetic and don't require the same care.

How do you make them not so stiff ? Any suggestions ?
@doctoredlocks
@doctoredlocks Жыл бұрын
You can dip them into boiling water and that will make them less stiff. Just be sure to hold the twist(if they are twisted) and lay them flat while the heat dissipates because the fiber is heat malleable.

It worked but Is it ok that they kinda changed shape ? They were straight before now some are kind of bent , is this look ok ? If not how can I put them back straight ?
@doctoredlocks
@doctoredlocks Жыл бұрын
The shape takes hold as they cool. If there are spots that have bent, just redip them and make sure they are in the shape that you want them as they cool.
