I just saw a datamine video that suggests they will be selling LUMINOUS INK in the cash shop. If that is the case, and they are making the main feature of the Gold Road chapter dependent on cash shop purchases, I hope it receives a LOT of push-back. That's a pretty slimy thing to do. I hope the data datamine is wrong. Edit to add: though that would certainly explain why they are so reluctant to increase the drop rate. Increased drop rate equals less desperate cash shop purchases.

I got Hof lead from normal Hof just jumped in a group finder run, but then I had to actually run normal volenfel solo which wasn't difficult but took 3 runs for that lead 😂

I wanna hear you spit facts! 😂 But yeah I think at least making the leads more relevant to what the mythic is used for would be good. No need to make casual ppl go into a trial for the thieving one for example

I don't mind if it isn't exactly the same activity. PvP and overland mythics are ok to drop from a specific normal dungeon. I'm pretty good with most activities other than trials and I am very wary of PvP based rewards: if it is a chance from a PvP coffer then that's ok but it would be awful if it was from a questgiver where the player can get ganked.

I find it a pain in the butt when I have to do a trial for a lead, but don't usually mind since they always drop on the first run (in my experience anyway), and you can do it on normal. I made a group in the GF and literally titled it, "HELP ME GET MY LEAD," and it filled up in probably 25 minutes. One of the randoms that joined offered to lead the raid for me as well.

100 % agree. Should have been the way it worked from the start. Makes complete sense. So much so that to the point that I wonder why they went the way they did, rather than this logical pathway.

The one point that wasn't mentioned at all for the steam guards. Every lead is valid from a Lore perspective. Doesn't help the argument, just wanted to point it out because I'm a big lore nerd. Also it's not the first time they've done this. High Isle and the Dov-rha sabatons had a lead that dropped from any of the dragons in Sunspire, but that is also lore based.

I agree with both of your examples. I would probably not do HoF ( again) for the lead...except, it's tied to getting the achievement, which has a fancy mount. I DO have issues with that. I'll just pick a day I'm to antsy to sit still for long.

As someone who has arthritis and poor reaction time, I'm all for a few pushover sources for Mythics. Unless it is used for PVP, how you get it doesn't really matter. I do think the thieving Mythic should be obtainable through thieving activities though. I don't EVER do trials or PVP because I dislike and suck at them. I sit out the Mayhem events every year because of this. As a result, I will never get a lead obtained in this way. If it's a lead for a PVP item that's fine because I don't engage in that anyway but if it's for something else, I'm locked out.

The "All in the IA" set of leads makes me cry a bit. lol

I completely disagree with the " getting a trial group together is difficult" argument. I returned to this game 2 months ago. Started fresh on a new system, new account. Once i reached CP 160 i made it my mission to finally tackle trials. I play solo. I have zero friends on ESO and i dont like talking in public chat. But i joined 5 guilds all of which do trial nights religiously and they have different options for people hunting leads or gear or people that want to learn mechs. I do about 5 trial runs a day now. It is not hard to find trial groups. There is a trial group finder and anyone can use it. Hell i dont even talk to the people im doing the trial with. I just listen, follow, learn and mostly get carried into my sweet new gear.

I don't like being forced doing trials under pain on missing out on content. Just wish the Companions will be improved to allow players to summon multiple Companions for Group Dungeons and Trials.

if trials just had MATCHMAKING this wouldn't be a problem... i only fail like 1/50 vet dungeon pugs, you don't need full coordination for trials either. and those 1/50 lost are from a fake tank

I’ve been trying to farm leads for torc of the last ayleid king for 3 weeks now. I’ve gotten 2 leads for it back to back in one run. Nothing since. So putting all 5 in ia is also kinda crazy.

For years I have been saying that drops like this, be it leads in ESO, legendaries in WoW back in Legion, etc. should drop from at least two, better three different sources, just to not create situations like this. Sure, taking the intended use into account is a must to make it available for the core user group, but there should be at least an alternative since there are almost always valid / fun / unintended uses for these items as well.

I'm a day one player on Xbox and I also play on PC high level CP both. And I have to halfway totally disagree with you. Yes on PC doing a trial you can put one together in 20 minutes. But for Xbox the population which is nowhere near what the PC population is. On xbox there are leads from past updates that I still have not been able to get from a certain trial. After hours and hours of planning (and I belong to five guilds) I finally get a group together and run the trial and the lead does not drop. Rinse repeat dozens of times and I do mean dozens of times it feels like all hope is lost. On Xbox there are several leads that I have gotten so pissed off about that I have sworn them out of my library. I even dropped my ESO Plus over it. Which is fine because I own everything anyways because I spent my crowns on the DLCs. I live in both worlds console and PC console is another beast all together

I could care less for Rourken Steamguards mythic, and believe it should be place within the Lucent Citadel achievements. This way Savior of West Weald and Snipe, Scarlet Red can be achieved by anyone. I'm with the OP

i was in a HOF trial run, with my guild's trial group. Three of the people in the group had never done a trial before. We had zero wipes. It's a fairly trivial run, as trials go. I think two people got the lead in that run? It's trivial. That said, I think your stance on that mythic (and most mythics) is... not great. I've heard more talk of utility for that mythic in PVP than in tanking, most of the tanks I run with have no interest in using that mythic, it's use case is too niche for most trial content, but there are MULTIPLE situations in PVP where that mythic (apparently, from what i read) is a lifesaver. Frankly, I think the best solution to this problem is to have every mythic lead have a chance from _any_ of it's potential sources. Don't want to do trials? Do the dungeon boss that has a lower drop chance. Willing to do a trial? Have a drastically higher drop chance for a curated lead.

It is a risky move by zos. They want players wasting time in game so they can release less content but trials are one area that turn players off and make players delete the game as it can be intimidating and time consuming. Lets say you have a couple kids that need attention, you work full time and want 45 minutes to take a break at night. Doing a trial for a lead is really difficult and you will likely go afk in that 2 or 3 hours you attempt to run the trial after queing and failing. This is why mmos fail...requiring casuals to participating in engaging activity that inhibits interacting with family or doing reponsibilities always eventually fails. PVP and trials should be optional...grinding not so much but a person should be able to stop and turn off the game at a moments notice if necessary.

They should not be giving you leads for zones you don't have access to and trying to force you to either get a subscription and/or buy dlcs. I have 2 gold leads for the gold road but don't have access to it. It's all to make me suffer FOMO and get me to spend $

Sorry but the nhof trial farm being an issue is silly. I constantly see people hosting it in group finder and it’s not hard to get those runs filled and that trial on normal can easily be run with one tank. Maybe before gf you could argue it was annoying but now that we have that tool it’s no issue farming at all

nHoF isn't a hard trial.

Join a guild is probably the BEST advice lol. You got 5 guild slots, pick some well populated guilds, doesn't need to be endgame guilds or pricey traders though those will be better but well populated is enough. second factor is timing. First few weeks those trials will be ran over and over and over again and since they can be run on normal the requirements to get in on these runs is literally just having a pulse. It really is that simple. Now if you are coming in 3,4,5 months after the lead has dropped, the farming population is gonna drop and that's true for everyone, newbie to vet players.
