I think it’s ok to appreciate both films and understand how improbable and gorgeous it is to have a film like The Boy and The Heron on the Mainstream. Besides, we’ll have another Spiderverse in a year or two, and if they raise their game again it will probably put this trilogy as what it is, a vanguardist taste of fresh air that changed the game for animation and superhero films.

I love Miyazaki, but there was something about The Boy and the Heron that didn’t completely sit with me. It’s nowhere near bad, but not his strongest efforts. I actually thought that Spider-Man: AtSV should have won both animated feature and score. Ludwig made an insane composition that is impossible to actually perform without the musicians having an ear piece to cue them into the tempo changes. Out of the nominees for best score, each brought their own flavor and uniqueness, but Across the Spider Verse’s score beautifully blends traditional with more modern arrangements that brings up, in my mind, The Social Network’s score that was an incredible and more inspired wins in the past decade or so during award season. I’m not upset at Robert Downey Jr. winning, but it would have been amazing to see Charles Melton win with his devastating performance in May December. With the SAG nom snub, I’m hoping that it doesn’t signal an end to his prospects at the Oscars, the entire film of May December because that whole movie got snubbed at SAG.
@mackielunkey22055 ай бұрын
