Sir the question is why buffalo horn at devil's feet, the answer is the asura is known as mahisasura, when he had exhausted all weapons in his fight with devi, mahisha attacked devi in his original mahisha=Buffalo and and form, which devi beheaded and hence came to be known as mahisasuramardini. Over a period of time people started depicting devi on top of Buffalo.
