Turkey's parliament this week removed Coca-Cola and Nestle products from its restaurants over their supposed support for Israel in the conflict in Gaza. A parliamentary source said the decision was meant to respond to 'huge public outcry against these companies' for supporting Israel. The parliament didn't specify how Coca-Cola and Nestle supported Israel's war effort. Turkish activists have in recent days urged the public to boycott various western companies they view as endorsing Israel's recent actions and some Turks have taken up the cause. DW’s correspondent in Istanbul, Julia Hahn, brings us the latest from the streets of Istanbul.

in my country, coca cola survive by selling tea and orange juice. i like their fresh tea mixed with apple cider. Their tea with jasmine is also nice... Not so much for pepsi. their gone, and nobody care.

turkish dimes is very popular juice brand in the world….very healthy drink…..but yep coca cola is cheaper but unhealthy…….coca cola zero sugar is a scammed after WHO announced aspartame is a source of cancer……people should seriously avoid buying this poison….

I nearly stopped drinking products of coke before what's happening at the moment. I don't remember when I last drank coke. But what i remember is before giving it up totally, I lately stopped enjoying its taste. It even started causing me stomach problems such as bloating and cramps.

For example, HP is an American company but it provides Israel its computers to be used in Israeli intelligence agencies. Yes, I am boycotting companies directly or indirectly supporting Israel to the best possible extent.

Turks have their own soft-drink brand. Cola Turka was launched on July 7, 2003 by a major Turkish confectionary and food company, Ülker.

First of all the more they tell you that boycotts don't work the more you know how much they actually work. Second of all people not buying Coca-Cola anymore doesn't lower consumer spending because people will just buy Turkish soft drinks instead, which probably would even benefit Turkey's economy.

It's been 5-6 years since I stopped consuming carbonated drinks and Nestle like products and refined flour produced goods like cookies, biscuits etc. My only guilty food is Icecream. Rest all eat healthy and clean food as much as possible. No pizza's, KFC, McD or any fast food chains, avoid them as much as possible.

The companies have not not responded because they do support Israel. Boycotting for Coca-Cola and drink local-brand soda will stimulate the local economy, not hurting. GW should make an investigation on the products on Boycotting list and tell the audience how these companies link to Israel.

Fast food brands, high sugar and processed foods should be boycotted anyway. They pay the lowest wages possible, extract money from communities, prevent people from joining unions, pay very little tax and are unhealthy. Cutting out all that junk will make you a lot more active grandparent rather than a dependant.

As in russia, it is very easy for local franchises to change the brand. So the boycott will not harm the locals for very long. But for western brands it is very alarming

what the reporter says about boycotting leads to harming their economy first doesn't make much sense, because there are other local options😅😅 people will still drink a beverage to their meal and they'll still grab that coffee on their way, but from different providers.
