For me "A community where a citizen is well fed, well educated, well treated and has easy reach to judiciary is Utopia " . If you agree let's establish Utopia 🙏

we don't have to look too far for a dystopia, look at the world now. the concept of utopias is important for us human beings because it gives us something to strive towards. akin to negotiating a deal, we look at what the world is willing to offer us (current circumstances) and what we expect from the world (future circumstances). the reality of it is that the only way that we can reach some middle ground is if we demand something better than the status quo. the established systems and entities that control the world now are clinging on to the last bits of powerful crumbs (media,, money, lobbyists, vested interests, consumerism) used as bargaining chips to keep the world as it is. the divisive methods used do not phase us, because we are so embedded in the systems that engulf every aspect of our lives. we cannot imagine a better and different world unless the idea of one is presented to us. but we must remember that the power to change and to rise above these silent yet oppressive powers lies within us. with an open mind and focusing on the solutions rather than maintaining the status quo. save our earth and keep it habitable for future generations.

If a utopia ever happens it will be done by force. A dystopia is reality, a utopia is just an idea.

The literal definition of Utopia is an imagined place where everything is perfect. By definition it can never truly exist because it lives in our minds.

Gregory, did you ever look into the connections between Thomas More and Bartolome de las Casas? They’re really interesting (16th c. Venezuelan coastal idyls). You have also prompted me to look into Lacan and Utopias / Dystopias.

Thanks for your comment Rolando. You should know that the original title for this talk was "My Road to Utopia" - hence the autobiographical slant. Apologies if you found it overly personal and egotistical. It's just an explanation for how I reached the position of finding the concept appealing.

@@yikesyikes9860 you pass your whole life struggling and overcoming your limitations, keeping yourself open to all kinds of experiences in order to find honest answers, getting and accumulating knowledge from different sources until you finally become a great historian. Then you come to internet in order to share your personal story and the things you found out after A LIFE TIME of research, and what happens? HATERS. Small narrow minded people that, instead of going to therapy solve their issues, have the needs of being mean to a person that did absolutely nothing bad to no one. I honestly think this generation is shameful and internet is getting more and more toxic. Why would you do that? Go find some efficient treatment for your hate. This is not the right place or person.
