San Francisco bay area of USA is known as the silicon valley of the world. It is because it is the hub of all major tech companies and startups. But what is the relation of silicon to all this? Also, similarly, Bangalore is called silicon valley of India due to presence of all tech giants and tech startups.
It is not because they have a lot of silicon. Actually, silicon is used as the most common semiconductor, which is used in IC and chips. Due to the presence of technology, the name silicon valley is given.

Silicon valley because HP opened there office first at that location of California and afterwards many IT companies started booming there. So , a silicon valley is now synonyms to cluster of IT companies.
