He’s actually saying that not going into therapy is comfortable and easy. He’s saying therapy is challenging, it’s growth. It’s for the new generation, likely because it is indeed harder to teach an older person new tricks and ways of coping. No one uses the word “stuck” in a positive, adaptive manner. Him being able to articulate this is refreshing. I’m glad he has that awareness.

I am a mexican man. And I am honestly afraid of going to therapy but I want to. Cause I struggle with relationships and choose the wrong women every single time. I am drawn and attracted to broken women or homeless people who need help. Maybe cause I feel something in them. Plus I know I am struggling with feeling appreciated and loved when a good woman approaches me cause I am not the one chasing them. It feels wrong to surrender to them without fear of them hurting or manipulating me

If you choose a woman who has her shit together, you'll be the only person left to work on, and you may not be ready to do that

I've been thinking about therapy myself a lot of people say the same therapy is for the weak. Might just jump off and do it

People who say that need it the most. They end up angry and out that on others.

I’m in school to be a therapist cuz a problem with therapy rn is that therapists often don’t know black culture, they don’t understand the specific stressors they deal with, they don’t understand what constitutes wellness for a black persob and they don’t understand how our families are structured So yes Black ppl should go to therapy, but also therapy also needs to consider cultures except for Anglo-American culture. I will say tho the profession is trying

There's still a stigma around black men where if I man have concern in a relationship, for a woman who doesn't know how to communicate might think:"I don't have this issue with other men" not acknowledging and dismissing at the same time his feeling
@bokarmangane81987 ай бұрын

Yo don’t go to therapy just to go. You go because there are behavioral and or psychological difficulties in your life that you cannot seem to overcome.

At the end of the day, it’s up to us black men to decide to seek therapy. You can help one black man, but the other black man is not open to it and got his mind made up.
@katpeterson78955 ай бұрын
@FlavoredGenuine well I am psychologist and I agree with you. I just hate the stigma around getting mental health treatment for the most part

@@katpeterson7895 There’s nothing wrong with seeking therapy. Have you ever asked us black men what our reasons behind our reluctance/refusal to seek therapy? Some of us tried therapy when we were younger but we couldn’t connect with our therapists or dislike the services that were provided when we go there.
@katpeterson78955 ай бұрын
@FlavoredGenuine not just black people as a whole we were taught to stop all that crying and mask our feelings or to not speak out when we are hurt emotionally or physically generation's upon generations ...Hopefully it changes with modern generations like it really is okay get therapy
@FlavoredGenuine5 ай бұрын
@@katpeterson7895 I’m just saying is that we all make choices in life and live with them, positive or negative. If a black man doesn’t want to go to therapy for any reason and is of sound mind, respect his wishes and leave him be and acknowledge that he’s an adult. It’s the micromanaging or aggressive approach from other people that exacerbates his reluctance/refusal to seek therapy. I’m not being disrespectful to you and your profession, I’m just offering a different perspective on therapy as someone who went there when I was younger and stopped going there when I realized it wasn’t working out.

No one needs another man to tell them how to live, trust in God pray and let him know what your going through he is better than a human getting paid to listen to your feelings
