A bleeder resistor is connected for the capacitor discharging and reducing inrush current to solve the capacitor switching. problem.
Capacitor discharging, voltage & inrush, transient current in the capacitor during switching, experiment, and waveforms is explained in the video.
A bleeder resistor is a resistor connected in parallel to the capacitor to discharge the high voltage capacitor bank for safety, to reduce high voltage during capacitor switching, to reduce inrush current, and also to improve capacitor life. This resistor is also called a "bleeder resistor".
Further, the Inrush current in the capacitor is explained. Switching ON of an already charged, precharged capacitor explained.

G K Agrawal I am a forensic electrical engineer looking for a clear way to explain this topic myself and I found your methods, testing, and visual diagrams to be the best on the internet. Sometimes a simple “analog” display of waveforms is clearer and refreshing alternative to digital PC-generated display. As a follow up, perhaps discussion of the deleterious effect of the phenomena when a bleeder resistor fails or isn’t used on an HVAC or other motor starter capacitor would be valuable (failed capacitor, possible damage to contactor etc.). Thanks again.

Thanks - a very informative video on the need and use for bleeder resistors. I'm going to swap my single pole, single throw switch for a single pole, double throw with no center off [on my Variac power supply, with a bridge rectifier and cap output], so I can bring a resistor into the circuit to start draining the cap when the power is removed, and so I don't have to have the constant load drop across the resistor. I'll improve my knowledge of circuits from there.

Hi I have seen high voltage capacitors , sometimes in parallel and sometimes in series Can you tell us how to calculate the resistor for a high voltage capacitor bank in series or parallel ??? example = 4,7 nanofarads 6,000 volts ( model FKP1 ) Thanks.

Higher the value of this resistor, higher will be time constant & lower will be the time required to discharge the capacitor.... Right???

When we switch off AC supply to the capacitor, it will storage the Voltage in the form of DC? Can you clarify sir

Yes, at the time of switch off, whatever voltage across capacitor is there, that will remain across capacitor as DC.

Very Elaborative video Sir, Thanks 🙏🏼 Minute suggestion: You can include a short note that the resistance of external resistor and internal impedance of DMM are in parallel which gives us a lower resistance than the very resistance of DMM only. 3 phase delta-star connection me jo star ka common point neutral line hota hai wo connection toh transformer ka under inbuild hai fir bahar se kaise pata hoga ki kaunsa 4 bushing me se 1 bushing neutral ka hai agar neutral pe earthed nhi dia gaya toh ?sir plssss plsss

1 phase 2 wire se banta hai, line aur neutral. Neutral 3 phase ka star point hota hai.
