This is a pro-Russian and increasingly pro-Putin, anti-EU and anti-NATO quasi-fascist party that has been gaining ground in every single election in the past two years. They started with barely 4% and are not at 15%, the third largest in Parliament. That's the main reason GERB and the anti-corruption coalition decided to form a grand coalition - if the political deadlock continued, 6 months from now Bulgaria could've been ruled by a pro-Russian fascist party that would immediately leave the EU and NATO.

While Borisov is in the government the parliament will be reluctant to strip him off of his immunity because this would probably cause a collapse of the government and more political chaos. By allying himself with the anti-corruption coalition Borisov is less likely to be attacked by his new partners.

They may have used the 2021 index. In 2021 Bulgaria got a score of 42/100, Hungary 43/100. In 2022 it was the other way round. At the moment the difference in corruption level between the two countries is so small it's insignificant but that won't last. Bulgaria hasn't changed much but still shows a positive trend. Hungary on the other hand is going down fast.

This report is full of lies. There are NO ANTI-CORRUPTION PARTIES in Bulgaria! The most corrupted ones are exactly the once who claims that are fighting corruption. The PP party was created by the extremely corrupted President Radev, and they had the most expensive election campaign in the history of Bulgaria, paid lavishly by the same oligarchs who previously supported Borisov. In fact , their campaigned was 5 times more expensive than the GERB campaign, a party who is supposed to have been on power for 12 years and have supposedly creaming lots of money. The PP party had only being in power for 7 months in a coalition with other 3 parties? Can you explain where all the money came from? Their lieders of PP- Asen Vasilev and Kiril Petkov, disregarded the constitution several times, stopped all the infrastructural project in the country and redirected all the money towards their personal offshore bank accounts and paying back the oligarchs. So now let me explained, as obviously you are not as brilliant as you claimed! The whole turbulences started not because some brave harts wanted to fight corruption. No, no, no. Borisov started to cream for his party more than he was giving to the oligarchs. Also , he allowed the Chief Prosecutor to start with the prosecution of several of this Oligarchs. The prosecutor froze their assets, in total around 5 billion euro! Several of them fled the country and went to Dubai, Serbia and South Africa. From where they started fighting the Prosecutor. Two of the oligarchs that stayed in Bulgaria were in a war between each other for the precious EU resources. After 2 and a half years of turbulences, all the oligarchs and leaders of organised crime groups came together realizing their money has dwindle in this war, Radev has creamed a lot of their profits from illegal drug market. The EU money has stopped, the economy is in downturn. So they decided to stop the war between them and united efforts to sack the Chief Prosecutor . Thus the government was formed between the TWO MOST CORRUPTED PARTIES IN BULGARIA. By the way , one of the mafia bosses - Kuro, who recently was killed in South Africa with his wife and a child, was recorded (in an official investigation) saying the Asen Vasilev and Kiril Petkov work for him! This recording was send to the media which pretended to have never received it, as they are paid by the same criminals. Only small and independent medias played it. Should I conclude that you are not independent and you have been paid by the same people? Clearly!

Taking a stance and supporting Ukraine doesn't mean automatically sending tons of equipment. It does mean that they're taking a stance against Russia though, at the very least.

Lots of other inaccuracies like for instance the bit about Borissov being "voted out" of cabinet in 2021 when his mandate just ended and it was time for new elections. Or the poll they cited at 6:44; they also used it in their video on Slovakia a couple weeks ago and said 44% of Slovaks disagree with the Russia sanctions, making it the highest figure in the EU; now they're using the support metric because it fits the narrative better.

Democracy can certainly be messy and chaotic, but it also offers the chance to throw the bums out when they step too far out of line as well as an independent judiciary to take your disputes to and get a (more or less) fair hearing.

Problem is that while in election season, Bulgaria has no active parliament (no representation or means to pass laws) and the government is appointed by the president, who was not elected to form governments but rather to be a symbolic unifying figure. That presidential government has no parliamentary control or any opposition during election season. This meant Radev ruled the country for two years entirely unopposed

During this time to solve: - the deadlock on Ukraine's aid(as pro- russia parties and the president are against it) - the deadlock on EU next generation legal binding policies(laws and regulations) - the deadlock on the state budget(we haven't one in the moment and we use the old one of 2022) - the deadlock from the populist parties(Trifonov or Kostadinov and the like by normalising the state and leave no place for them to thrive)

Well, they are part of a coalition that are part of a coalition. In reality, they don't have voice when it comes to Bulgarian politics. To be honest, I follow Bulgarian politics and was not aware that they are actually active in any meaningful way. Some of the logos of other parties are also quite unrecognizable though.

Sometimes I think Bulgaria remain relatively poor because of its location (a sandwich between other poor countries, please Romania repair some railways above town of Vidin, on your side of Danube!), but most likely it is because of lack of ambition and low self-esteem.
