I work on the ball crew for an NFL team, and if a game ball goes into the stands, either by accident or by a player tossing it into the crowd, we don't ask for it back. The kicking ball is a whole different story. There are a specific number of K-balls that are numbered, but usually only ball 1 and 2 are used. The kickers want to keep using those 2 balls in rotation because they get a "broke-in feel" to them. If one of those balls goes into the stands, we usually just trade a regular game ball for the K-ball. Although it doesn't happen often, we haven't had a problem getting a K-ball back.

By the end of the game at least 25 people sitting near me came over and gave me a ball that they bought at the gift counter at the stadium then my father cried nice video

I was at a game where a guy caught a ball after it missed the net on an extra point. He then threw the ball to someone else in the stands. The ball then kept getting thrown around the stadium. The ball made it around the stadium about three times before a security guy eventually confiscated the ball. The guy who originally caught the ball was ejected. The security guys were boo’ed excessively. However, the football gods smiled upon our team that day for showing so much team spirit.😊

Yeshua(Jesus) the Christ loves you! Praise YHWH El Shaddai and may He bless you! Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords! (YHWH - the LORD) (El Shaddai - God Almighty) To those who haven’t; Repent of your sins and believe on the Adon Jesus the Christ, believe in your heart that He has died for your sins and rose from the tomb on the third day and you shall receive the Holy Spirit of God and He shall dwell within you. You shall be saved. Be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! - Jesus the Christ loves you, praise YHWH our Elohim - Evidence for Jesus Christ’s existence, crucifixion, and disappearance from the tomb (He rose from it): The Lord Jesus Christ did exist, gathered disciples, and was crucified and went missing from the tomb. To argue about wether He was taken from the grave or rose from it, is an argument a skeptic can make. Because well if you disregard the eye witness testimony of the disciples and there willingness to die for Christ, and humans won’t die for something they know is a lie, when Peter is pinned upside down to that cross, he could have said that it was a fake, but He didn’t because it wasn’t, what care would he have about death in this world if he knew for a fact he had assurance of a life in another, Jesus Christ did rise from the tomb and is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now the evidence for the Lord Jesus Christ’s existence really isn’t hard to find a multitude of non-Christian scholars and historians mention Him within 150 years after the time of His life. One such is Tacitus a Roman historian who reported on emperor nero’s decision to blame the Christians for the fire that had destroyed rome in 64 AD. Tacitus wrote: “Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome…” In this Tacitus makes reference to not only Christians, but Christ calling Him Christus and confirming the Gospels going on to say that He suffered the extreme penalty (crucifixion) under the reign of Tiberius and by the sentence of Pontius Pilate, which like I said confirms the Gospels narrative. Another important source of evidence about Jesus and early Christianity can be found in the letters of Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan. Pliny was the Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. In one of his letters, dated around A.D. 112, he asks Trajan's advice about the appropriate way to conduct legal proceedings against those accused of being Christians. Pliny says that he needed to consult the emperor about this issue because a great multitude of every age, class, and sex stood accused of Christianity. At one point in his letter, Pliny relates some of the information he has learned about these Christians: “They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind.” This passage provides a number of interesting insights into the beliefs and practices of early Christians. First, we see that Christians regularly met on a certain fixed day for worship. Second, their worship was directed to Christ, demonstrating that they firmly believed in His divinity. Furthermore, one scholar interprets Pliny's statement that hymns were sung to Christ, "as to a god", as a reference to the rather distinctive fact that, "unlike other gods who were worshipped, Christ was a person who had lived on earth." If this interpretation is correct, Pliny understood that Christians were worshipping an actual historical person as God! Of course, this agrees perfectly with the New Testament doctrine that Jesus was both God and man. You may have heard of the scholar Flavius Josephus who mentioned James as being the brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, which matches what Paul said calling James “The Lord’s brother” and there is another document that Josephus may have written which goes: “About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he ... wrought surprising feats.... He was the Christ. When Pilate ...condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared ... restored to life.... And the tribe of Christians ... has ... not disappeared.” Now it’s up to debate wether this is the entirely original document of what Josephus wrote, or if a Christian had edited it. But regardless he wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ. Wether it was negative or positive like the possible document is. Anyways there are many other statements, documents, letters, and writings of all sorts from the ancient world talking about the Lord Jesus Christ and there is not one question if He was a real person or if He was crucified and went missing from the grave. That is clear as day, He is a real person, was crucified, and went missing from the grave. And He did rise from the grave. And for more evidence of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s the Bible and you see there is no evidence the Bible is corrupted, a lie, created by the Roman government, folktale. It is the recount of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, now wether you want to believe it is up to you. And what profit was there in spreading Christianity, All the early Christian suffered persecution, beatings, and were killed. Another Scholar reported that James the Lord’s Brother was thrown off a building and then stoned to death for spreading the Gospel in Jerusalem. These people went to great lengths even giving their own lives for the Adon Jesus the Christ.

@@coby4480 I’ve sectioned it and removed some of the as less important context, these are 3 documents that support the existence, disciples, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Christ Jesus! -- The report from Tacitus the Roman Historian (116 AD) “Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome…” This not only gives evidence that Christ Jesus truly walked the earth, but also confirms the Gospel Narrative that Christ Jesus was crucified and that it was via the sentence of Pontius Pilate. “and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment,” And some believe this refers to the Resurrection of Christ Jesus! -- Pliny the Younger’s Letter to Emperor Trajan. (112 AD) [Pliny was the Roman Governor of Bithynia and Pontus (now in modern Turkey).] ““They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind.” This letter shows that even the early Christians seemed to regard Christ as God, that the early Christians followed the New Testament Doctrine that Christ Jesus is both God and man, and further proves His historical existence! -- Josephus Flavius passage on Christ Jesus (93-94 AD) “About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he ... wrought surprising feats.... He was the Christ. When Pilate ...condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared ... restored to life.... And the tribe of Christians ... has ... not disappeared.” There is debate whether this is the original text or whether a Christian had edited this text, but that is not the emphasis, it is that whether positive or negative this document gives further proof to Christ Jesus’s existence, disciples, Crucifixion, and Resurrection. The idea that Christ Jesus didn’t exist is a recent one and is a complete lie.

I studied the baseball case in law school; it is actually a super interesting and novel case at the time it was brought. there was another similar one brought that dealt with who gets the ball if one person in the stands catches it but drops it and another gets it after. I'll save you the research; it is the second person's ball following the "finder's keeper's" rule because the ball is considered "abandoned property" for purposes of the law, so whoever "finds it" (i.e. gets possession first) gets finder's rights.

They don't let you have the kicking balls because they probably put magnets in those balls so they can make them miss when they want to help out the team they want to help. That, or they just put counterweights in the ball so it will fly off the left or to the right. Just last weekend, the NFL helped the Dolphins beat the Raiders by forcing a missed extra point, and the NFL also tried to help the Cardinals out by causing two or even three bad kicks by the 49ers...when the Niners took an 8 point lead with 8 minutes to go, the extra point was missed. Then with 1 minute to go, the Niners also missed a short field goal which gave the Cardinals another chance to come back and tie the game...coincidence? I believe that's why the NFL moved back the extra points a few years back...so they could cause misses to keep the games close and help teams win that follow the storyline or who they want to win...

I believe this policy can be traced back to the 1940 NFL Championship Game between the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins. As most people know, that was the infamous 73-0 annihilation that remains the most one-sided game in NFL history and the 73 points the Bears scored in that game remain a record for the most points any team has scored in an NFL game. But how that game may relate to the rule of the NFL not allowing fans to keep field goals and extra points kicked over the netting and into the stands is that, back in 1940, the fans actually were allowed to keep the balls. But the officials ran into a problem. Because the Bears scored so many touchdowns, and thus kicking so many extra points, the officials were worried that they might literally run out of footballs with which to finish the game. And when the game ended, they were down to their last football. In fact, they even told the Bears not to kick any more extra points, but instead run a standard offensive play for the point after. I believe it was after that totally unforeseen situation that the NFL adopted the rule that the fans could not keep any balls that went into the stands, and even though they now have enough balls to play a full game without ever risking running out should they allow the fans to keep the balls kicked into the stands, they've not changed that rule, which is why fans are not allowed to keep the balls kicked into the stands.

I've seen players intentionally throw balls into the stands in the Canadian Football League. Apparently, players can be charged 75 dollars for each ball they chuck into the stands, but that may vary by team (since used balls are sometimes destined for donation to amateur football programs). Still, you get to keep the ball if you catch it. I've even seen players climb the stairs to the lower level stands in the end zone after their TD catch and hand the ball to a fan, rather than throwing it. I think this is a much better policy, even if players are officially fined for doing it intentionally - it adds to the live experience of a game, which ultimately leads to more people buying tickets. The NFL should consider doing this too. A 6 grand fine for tossing a ball into the stands is totally disproportionate to the apparent violation, and ejecting fans who elect to keep the ball they catch is a good way to piss off a fanbase.

BadSeed Black1911 this is INCORRECT. Blackletter law clearly states a team loses possession of a baseball/football if it is hit/kicked/thrown into the stands. Once it reaches the stands, it becomes public property (i.e., whoever obtains it). If, however, a ball boy is walking around in the stands with a ball and a fan takes it from the ball boy, that is theft. And ball either must be returned, or the fan will catch a case.

I worked as a security security guard for an MLB team on the field and first deck level. Every once in a while I would snag a foul ball. As I would climb to the top of the section to the handicap seating to give them the ball, it was amazing how disgusting those people who could afford $200/seat tickets for the whole family would act when I would not give them the ball. Pro football players...if you can reach the upper decks by throwing do so. Those might be the working class. Chances are working class are at home wishing the could afford cable to watch a game. Giving a football to a very spoiled kid in the front row means nothing. Your being generous with somebody else's property to make you look good.

It's funny because in the MLB if you're asked to give a ball back it's typically for some big milestone, i.e. a players first career home run. Typically the team gives you more than a coupon. If you're good at negotiating you can get some signed gear and maybe even meet some of the players. In football, they give you a coupon for something.

Worrying over fines for throwing balls into the stands is what inadvertently led to the start of a classic NFL celebration. In 1965, Giants WR Homer Jones wanted to throw the ball in the stands but as he scored his 1st NFL TD he remembered that he would get fined $500 (the rule had just been implemented that year) for doing so...so he threw the ball on the ground. Hence, the first touchdown spike.

You'd only understand this if you're a quarterback, but in higher levels before the game you go through this big bucket of balls and pick out the ones you want to play with, as a variety of factors about the ball (most of the time just comfort) can effect how good you feel throwing back there. You only pick out about 3-4 balls (this can be seen during rainy games, where a set of 3-4 balls are dried by a towelman on loop

I was actually at the 2016 Birmingham Bowl between South Florida and South Carolina when at halftime, the South Carolina kickers were kicking practice field goals. One of the field goal balls landed next to me so I picked it up and tried to hide it in my jacket so I could hopefully take it home. Unfortunately a Birmingham City Police Officer came over and asked if I was going to give the ball back (so clearly he saw me pick the ball up and hide it in my jacket). I told him “I couldn’t see USC’s nearest ball boy” because I didn’t want the ball to end up on the field because the second half was about to start. Then he said he would take it to them. So I obliged and gave to him. I was a little disappointed not to take it home with me but I remember what the ball looked like too. It had the CFP logo with the words College Football Playoff underneath. Also on the ball was the South Carolina logo and the NCAA logo.

I learned all the places to find the balls which were knocked into the stands. -- I used to collect them and pass them out to the little boys that I saw sitting around during the game. The kids were simply thrilled and the young parents were always very appreciative. They would thank me and I'd explain 'It's okay... I work here,' with a shrug of my shoulders. -- 'I've got several at home already. I hope that one will be a nice treasure for your boy!' It left big smiles on all our faces and those parent's eyes would shine with gratitude. :-)

Most teams have a policy when a ball is kicked into the stands, the fan that caught the ball has to give it back but will be reimbursed with a practice/game used football from the team that kicked it. On the other hand if a ball is handed directly to you, you have full obligation to keep the football and the player is not fined, however if the player throws the football or kicks the football into the stands they are fined for that, oh and the fan gets to keep the football. I go to many giants games and see it happen all the time.

No they dont. They also don't fine players for giving balls away just for throwing them. The problem is when 2 people catch it at once and fight for it. Or grown man catches it over the little kid it was intended for

+ Memes... If Cam throws a football in the stands, yeah, he would most likely be fined or given a warning by the league. But I don't think he has ever done that. He just hands a ball to a kid. Has it not always been a kid?
