Thank you for showcasing this type of distortion problem. I was at a psytrance club event last night and the PA speakers sounded really bad. It's was hard to hear all the details in the music.

All modern pioneer mixers have output attenuation also. Even your old DJM800 has it on the back panel. The newer models its located in the utility menu. "output att" Always run at -6db to help avoid clipping on the mixer itself. (the cdj3k now has this feature also) most mixers ship with it set to 0db (max or full output) Its also the sound companies / engineers fault if they are running a dj mixer without attenuation enabled. you never know when you may work with an amateur dj...its just best to assume you always will. then properly tune the sound system for correct output, limiting etc.. thanks for the video! would love to see one showing the difference with att. enabled 🙂

All dance music is already clipped digitally or by converters so you will add more distortion to already distorted music... Better to not clipping again.

The only reason I can think of is that some Dj’s just don’t understand how gain structures work. Red is a Dj’s worst enemy!

it's genre specific if you wanna redline or not, for example, schranz (or hard techno) tracks are already clipped to fuck by the producers themselves, and clipping it while mixing adds even more to that style. alot of schranz djs do that.

Bro I’m new with the mixer and you save me I noticed it because I use to stream and I set all the limiters and audio but. Transfer this knowledge to the mixing environment is hard if you donor get training

Would be nice if you did it with the djm900nx (club standard) and not a mixer from 2004 (18 years old when you uploaded this). because there's SO much more headroom on the new mixers, so they dont distort before 2 reds and a clip light flashing.

weird question, but if i redline my controller, it doesnt distort. how do i make it distort? edit: just wanna clarify that i want to clip it (its a genre thing, alot of djs redline intentionally to add the vibe, and the songs are made to be clipped like that). and im using a numark mixtrack pro fx with traktor 3

None of this really makes sense...sorry. I'm a newbie with the mixer. Here's my problem...I run the music at church and I think kids are always screwing with the mixer as the music always sounds like crap. I am playing the music through a computer, and a mixer (Carvin C2440) into PA. Any idea how to fix? What knobs to screw with?
