There are some very specific requirements for HRT to be able to prevent the diseases due to estrogen deficiency. And there are some very specific reasons that COMPOUNDED BHRT doesn’t qualify. Don’t make the mistake of missing this video and missing the boat on achieving your goals with compounded products that can’t
deliver.

This is such a great video. I agree that pharmaceuticals HRT should be preferred over compounded (bioidentical) but in my experience, the only reason women turn to the compounded stuff is because they simply cannot get pharmaceutical prescribed to them. Doctors just won't give it out unless you have some type of severe symptom. I've asked a few ob/gyn about since since I've moved several times in the past few years I've had different doctors. They all said the same. No prescription unless there is an issue other than the "typical" menopause symptoms. They don't care if I can't sleep or get hot flashes. They were fast to refer me to anti depressants though!

My doctor wouldn’t prescribe it to me until I was 55. She put me on birth control pills instead. She said you can still get pregnant on hrt and it would be a high risk pregnancy.

@@melissaculpepper7663 that’s fantastic! I’m frustrated with trying to figure out costs either through insurance, cash price, or GoodRx, whatever works. The hard part for me is I live far from any major pharmacy like CVS, Walgreens, or Wal-Mart, so I can’t get the best prices anyway. The closest major pharmacy is 175 miles one way. I imagine I could get prescriptions mailed once I get going like I currently do with the compounds.

As usual, present and ready to learn! Love it when your hair is down. Your tops so cute! I went into my surgery follow up knowing exactly what I wanted in estrogen replacement. I've read about BHRT and the downside of the pellet from another menopause expert who wrote a book as well. By the way, both your book and hers were bloody brilliant and had detailed info to help women. She strongly recommended women run away when suggested a compounding pharmacy BHRT and the pellet as HRT form. I'll stick to the 0.06% gel, but a warning to pet owners, wash your hands well and apply it to spots where your pets or loved ones won't touch for at least 2 hours! The reason I found out was my kitten went into heat far, far too early and it was from my estrogen gel I put on my arms and pick her up within a window where her fur would get minute amounts on it and she'd lick it off her fur!

So how do you get them to give you (if you’re post menopausal) the estradiol gel or the estradiol patch there are different strengths 0.375 or 0.05 that are straight estradiol? do they test you for which one you should take? My doctor seems to really push the bio identical cream and the pellets and neither one of them are 100% estradiol which is what we need if we are post menopausal. No wonder I feel the way I do. I used to take Premarin in pill form and progesterone but I wanted to get off all of that but I honestly never had a problem with them it’s just that now I’m 70 years old and I don’t want to keep taking that pill, but this is definitely not meeting my needs. and you know where I notice it? In my bones and I’ve only been on it three months I never had issues with my bones before and I couldn’t figure out why are my bones hurting like this they’ve never hurt me before feeling so stiff. I had been on Premarin and progesterone since I was 48 years old. Now on thecream I feel very different still have hot flashes here and there. Have B O which I never had in my entire life! I definitely feel different on this cream now I understand why. The first prescription he gave me at the compounding pharmacy they did something wrong with the dosage anyway he was super upset but I used it until I got the new one but there was a big difference from the second one to the first one yet it was the same prescription it was so weird. I have an appointment in October he thought I might like to try the pellets but I kept thinking what if you have a bad Reaction it’s not like they can just take it out but he said oh well she’ll go over all that with you.🙄. It’s frustrating! I am learning so much. Thank you!

After watching your videos I'm really leaning towards the pharmaceutical bio-idential creams. Thank you sooooo much for this information. My GP and my regular Gyn only want to give antidepressants or the very minimum 0.5mg estrogen and for no more than 5 years. So finding this other ObGyn - that I have to pay for out of pocket - was a blessing. However, he strongly recommends Bi-est compounded cream. I have a follow up consult with him tomorrow actually and am going to ask for a pharmaceutical form of estrogen. Wish me luck!! It really shouldn't be this hard to get proper care.

Dear dr Taylor, as always, I am so thankful for you video. So thanks! I must say I am a tad confused at the moment. In the past, you have been featured on Dominique Sachse's channel. She seemed to take your professional opinion very seriously and pointed many of us towards your channel. But only two weeks ago, she released a video on her channel with dr Susan in which she is getting... bioidentical hormone replacement (in this case testosteron, which you just said women hardly ever need). And she is getting it in the form of a pellet that is injected into her skin .... So that's a bad idea for pretty much all of us for the reasons you just mentioned in this video, but it's advocated as a good idea by Dominique and dr Susan? Please, please understand, I do not mean to be unfriendly or overly critical to anyone here, I am just truly confused. Maybe I misunderstood the message and dr Susan is actually promoting the same thing as you? But having re-watched both videos that really doesn't seem to be the case, and now I am at a loss. @@crh251 I don't know what NAMS is. My regular gyn was at first just the surgeon who removed a LARGE benign uterine fibroid at age 51, when the rest of the world was trying to force me to just take out my uterus. We had such a great rapport, he took me on as a patient afterwards. He is a courageous and lovely person, and also unfailingly honest. I had regular cycles for 2 years post surgery. Then, when it came time to start thinking about hrt, he just wanted to give me the usual combos of estrogen/ progesterone -- patches and such-- which is not the route I wanted to go. He admitted that he did not have the updated education to feel comfortable with anything other than those types of options. I think his passion is surgery for now and he is good at it. He said thta down the line he would get continuing ed in menopause. Anyway, I adore him and didn't want to lose him as a doctor. He said it was fine with him if I consulted an outside doc for the hrt. So I just went online googling and reading ratings for doctors. When I found this new physician, I called the office and vetted the doctor making inquiries. I forgot what I asked, but probably along the lines of: is he open to different hrt options? Is menopause a focus for him? The office staff I spoke with was so friendly and receptive to my questions. She said if nothing else, just come in and get a consult. I did and liked this doc-- who is another lovely and gallant gentleman-- immediately. I feel quite blessed with my women's health care actually. Access to good meds is another story in the good ole USA. That is always a fight. *I do pharmaceutical bioidenticals.

As a pharmacist, I’d say compounded thyroid is RIDICULOUS! Are you kidding me ?! Uuugh! Wow, sorry that happened to you, I’ve never heard of that. Sigh….
@brianne_84
@brianne_84 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ayyeliki I agree, imo it’s all a scam, they know sick people are desperate. Dosing thyroid replacement is a little different with ME/CFS because the hypothalamus can be dysfunctional and that causes a downward production of hormones, as it has in my case. My pituitary barely produces any tsh, regardless of how low my thyroid levels are. So the endocrinologist I see treats me based on a combination of my symptoms and other thyroid levels.

I have a “normal dosing gel”, every time I press the tube it releases 0,75 estradiol. But it is a useless information as I apply only a portion if it , depending on my needs ( not very accurate I am afraid) . I have relative high values of both estradiol and progesterone ( according to blood tests results and symptoms), although I only use a part of the daily dosage, it might be because of a heathy calm lifestyle , eating lots of seeds, etc. Hope this was a somehow useful information.

Is testosterone the missing component in this equation? Can you inform us on pharmaceutical testosterone usage along with estradiol and progesterone?

Hi Dr. B! Amazing info, as usual. Two things: Does an estradiol hemihydrate patch of 3.2 mg (changed every 3-4 days) provide the minimum requirement of .0375 mg daily, as noted in your chart? Second: So glad you cleared up the info regarding testosterone pellets. I was watching another popular KZfaqr have a pellet inserted, and raving about the results. Now, armed with your info, I realize it may not be the safest option. Is pharmaceutical testosterone available anywhere in the world? Thanks for this wonderful education.
@MenopauseTaylor
@MenopauseTaylor 2 жыл бұрын
Your 3.2 mg estradiol hemihydrate patch falls short of the minimal necessary dosage. And you cannot know if you even need testosterone (Papa Bear's hormone) until you get your estrogen (Mama Bear's hormone) dosage correct. Pharmaceutical testosterone do exist ... but they are made for men in dosages that are 10 times what a woman needs or wants. Some countries are starting to market the first testosterone products for women.

Hi Dr. Taylor, thank you for this. I too, was looking forward to this episode. May I ask, of the delivery modality listed on your sheet of Estradiol, which of them works best in preventing the three diseases? Creams? Gels? Patches? I have bio-identical compounded Estradiol pellet subcutaneously installed on my right hip. It is 6 mg. Estradiol only, and is supposed to last for 3 months. I am thinking on switching to pharmaceutical estradiol cream instead. What is your most preferred delivery method? By the way, I didn't know about your channel until after I got the compounded BHRT. I wish I had found you before I walked into that clinic. Hi, yes, I’m using compounded. I first tried the synthetic Vivelle patch. I started on low dose. Numbers are different on the synthetics so I’ll say when I got to around the equivalent of 0.75 mg on the synthetic I ended up with Candida, a side effect of the synthetic patch. I switched to compounded and have just increased to 0.75, a little higher than the minimal daily dose of 0.5 mg. The synthetic (not natural ingredients) is bioavailable and the compounded (mostly natural ingredients) is also bioavailable. . I used compounded for awhile in 2002, never knew what I know now. True, the FDA isn’t involved with compounded, but I didn’t have a problem with it. Dr. Taylor says start with 0.5 mg on the compounded. That’s the minimal daily dose. Many women need more, start with 0.5 and see if it relieves the symptoms of menopause. Use it x 2 mos before increasing Also, the drs who agree to compounding want to put estrone or estriol in with your estradiol. You don’t need estrone. It makes you fat. Estriol is for the fetus. You want 100% estradiol. That’s the one that keeps you young. (The synthetic patch is 100% estradiol) You have to teach the dr. Have him start you at 0.5 mg, not lower. You’ll spend mos getting to your perfect dose. Better to start high and go low. Oh, and compounded can cause Candida too at certain doses. So far so good for me. (All this info came from Dr. Taylor’s video. She’s a good teacher. Good luck!)

My gynocologist suspects a polyp. I'm getting different answers for all my hormone questions so its frustrating. Dr. Taylor - thank you for all the time you spend educating us! I am wondering why the dose for Compounded B-Est is so much higher than the estradiol patch. Even if only 20% of the cream is estradiol, at 2.5 mg wouldn't there be 0.5 mg of estradiol in that amount of cream (while the patch has 0.05 mg)? Love what you are doing!!

Also, can we get synthetic estrodial in a pellet? Thanks for you help, I need to know what to ask my provider.
@MenopauseTaylor
@MenopauseTaylor 8 ай бұрын
Pellets consist of bioidentical testosterone & estrogen. They contain a lot of testosterone and very little estrogen. They are promoted and inserted mostly by alternative providers. The hormones are compounded, which means they are not tested or regulated by the FDA. The good thing about pellets is that they are long-term, lasting 4 - 6 months. That's good if you love them. The bad thing about pellets is that they are long-term, lasting 4 - 6 months. That's bad if you hate them. The testosterone is the component that most women hate. Testosterone is the male hormone. It causes acne, whiskers, male-pattern balding, weight gain, and aggression. These pellets DO NOT prevent any of the diseases due to estrogen deficiency (heart attack, osteoporosis, or Alzheimer’s Disease). If your only goals are energy and sex drive, then pellets will accomplish your goal. If you have any other goals, pellets will fall short.

Anyone can put anything on their website. Be wary of the word, "approved." It does not mean "regulated." It's really simple: Anything that is compounded is not regulated in a way that makes it reliable for preventing heart attack, osteoporosis, & Alzheimer's.

You do not need any labs before having a consultation with me. All you need to do for scheduling is go to MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them all online.

There’s a list of side effects for medications on the insert that comes with your Rx. Candida is on the synthetic list and the compounded list. It doesn’t mean you’ll suffer any of them, it only means they were reported by others in the past. Just read the list and be aware.

"Side effects" are possibilities. Generally-speaking, they occur in fewer than 10% of people who take the product. Don't assume you'll be one of them.

Dr. Taylor, I love watching your videos. I am 45 and got menopause at age 40. I been used compounded medicines. I didn’t see any improvement. Recently I started fda approved Divigel 0.5 with 100 mg progesterone capsule. I feel little bit better. Divigel is so expensive and it’s not covering with my insurance. I am paying $190 dollars. Is there any good product equal to Divigel? Some how my doctor likes this product. Please help me on this?

Google “Good Rx”, fill out the application, use the code they give you at the pharmacy and the price for your Estradiol should be significantly lower.

Wow! I have been getting bio identical troche from a compounding pharmacy (well, on my 2nd pharmacy now) for almost 2 yrs now. I thought the only options were premarin or compounded Rx's. Ughhhh I need to start over!! Here I thought I was getting something better and now pretty freaked out by the thought of unregulated meds.😬🤯

Great. My bioidentical hormone specialist has me on compounded biestro and I've been on for 4 months. I don't meet with her again for another 8 months. I'm only 2 years post menopause so hopefully I can get her to get me on just the one estrogen - estradiol100%.

@@MenopauseTaylor That was my mistake. She is actually a PA-c with 15 years working with hormones. She said she wanted to start me off on the lowest dose, so I will discuss the pharmaceutical options my next appt.

@@MenopauseTaylor Explain, please? Thank you. I live in a very small town and don't have many options, however, I realize how important hormonal therapy is and so far I am seeing improvements in a few physical situations that I have had over the past few years. I do appreciate your wisdom and your videos are helpful.

I get bioidentical estradiol 2MG from MedQuest a compounded pharmacy. I talk with them and they said they don't add the other 2 estrogens. So is 100% estradiol and only one filler. I am confuse when I hear you saying that compounded companies only offers the 3 estrogens. Would you please clarify?

Nothing that is compounded is capable of preventing heart attack, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's. If your goal is to prevent these 3 disease, you will not accomplish your goals with compounded anything. The entire industry is entirely unregulated. If you want to ensure that you are meeting your goals, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I do them all online.
