Why Craps Players are Losing (Secret to Craps Strategies) Many players lose because they leave their bets working too long. The average player rolls the dice 8.5 times in a hand. That means many rolls are much less than 8. This video shows how a player with just 2 hits on place bets will have more profit than a player that has 5 hits on place numbers but leaves them working. Its something to think about when devising your next craps strategy. This might just be the secret to craps strategies.

@Color Up Don Catin was a great man who really understood the math of the game. The 8.52 is really the average length of a hand of Craps. The average interval between 7's is 6 roll's of dice. In his follow up article to the one that you cited he states: "Roll# Probability of 7 Out 1 = 0.00000000 2 = 0.11111111 3 = 0.22788066 4 = 0.33264746 5 = 0.42387109 6 = 0.50278913 7 = 0.57095589 8 = 0.62980865 9 = 0.68060930 10 = 0.72445344 Well, there you have it. By the sixth roll the chances are just a bit better than even that a shooter will have sevened out." Do not let all the big math scare you, this article was a huge pivoting point in my understanding of Craps. www.casinocitytimes.com/donald-catlin/article/how-long-is-a-roll-part-2-1232

Your best bet is minimum flat bet on dp or dc and max lay odds after point is established. The odds of you winning that bet is ALWAYS in your favor. Minimum flat bet minimizes losses from come out 7 11.
@ColorUp
@ColorUp 3 жыл бұрын
The dont flat bet is never in your favor and carries a house edge. After point established though, you are correct and player always has the edge. Add as much odds as you like, as you will get payed fairly for taking the risk. But they always pay less than the odds bet, because you are more likely to win.

Of course for that player that is in Vegas for the weekend and they want to come home a big winner you can either play to win or play not to lose. Personally I play to win so I am always gonna leave my bets working and press them as those numbers hit.

First priority, break even. I routinely do this-early, and then sometimes late in the day. I watch dice betters hit and run, return, to hit presumably, but run, again and again sometimes. They don’t seem too happy. It can weary oneself, to put in the hours grinding, only to break even when day is done. Be the toughest out. It always beats losing.

Once in my life I was the hero. Three rolls, different shooters, one relatively short (roll, not shooter), the other 2 up in the 10 to 12 range. Three times in a row I turned my bets off exactly before the 7-out. By the 3rd time, guy next to me was a believer, thought I was a time traveler. I should have quit then and kept the mystery alive but instead tried it a few more times, failing miserably.

This is a great video! I used a modified version of this strategy last week and won big! $220 inside (5,6,8,9) after 2 hits, I go down to $110, now I'm out of the hand and have a profit of $30 and can now take advantage of the long roll and if big red comes it's no big deal. Of course point 7 out does happen but as you say in your video, 8.5 is the average and if a long roll does come you can press after regressing and make up for the point 7 out. It does take discipline to stick to this strategy because it's somewhat conservative. Thanks for the great video!

I like it. Another short game strategy to consider is as follows. If you use the two hit (I prefer 3) then down strategy, you can take down your initial bets (mine would be 64 across typically), and take your first two wins and put them back out on the line, be it 28 across or more depending on if you hit a four or ten,. Keep the third hit as pure profit. This way you have your two wins on the table basically using the "casino money" to bet with. In essence for free. You can leave it out there as long as you want and not feel too bad about it if you lose in a handful more rolls. BUT, if you continue to roll numbers, you of course can keep all the wins or press and keep. If you catch a big roll you will clean up. If you do not, you can try again with no pain at all.

if there is anything ive learned is that after 5 or 8 rolls you can switch up and either get a hedge . or bet with the 7 . avoid the 7 all together by coming off or down . or pulling it down and putting it on a dont pass bet if you still want some action find a strategy that avoids losing your place bets . that seems to be the tale of the tape at the end of the day and how much it adds up .

I watched your videos about a week ago and I’ve been doing very well in Craps. Thanks a lot-you’re really good at this💪🏾🎲🎰✅. I signed up for your course and watched a couple of videos and I like to play the 6 and the 8 and if the eight is on I’ll just play the 6 (because I have a pass-line bet) and let them roll out-that way I don’t lose much money. The odds are in my favor and I normally come out with money if I stay at the table. I was up to hundred on 100 for a total of $300. It may take a little longer to do that, but at least the money is in my pocket taking putting less money on the table. Let’s be honest-- I got lucky on some field bets too lol.

When I first started playing, I would fret at how much money I left on the table. But when you get to those monster rolls and start pounding some numbers, those wins are worth it. Players kick themselves for turning their bets off early or not taking them down. I find a spot where I'm willing not to press any higher. I've been on a $5 table and had my 6 to $150 and decided that I'm not going any higher. I've been to $30 on all the inside numbers and decided to stop pressing. When you take your money down or turn it off you are out of the action. I enjoy playing and understand that I'm probably going to lose money. I might as well enjoy it while I can. Interesting video indeed.

I am a math person and I feel the key word that no one uses is the Stochastic process. This is a great video! Basically it helps explain the phenomenon where the odds of say rolling a 4 is 1 in 12 rolls 3 combinations out of 36. Yet I have hit 6 4s in 13 rolls. I remember going off on a 50 roll monster making 5 points etc or hitting 8 2s in 13 rolls. I can now incorporate clever wagering as it converted me from an original dark side player btw.

Hey Jeremy. Another great vid..you make a good point with this one. Glad to see it. As a relatively newer player I've learned alot from your videos over the last year or so when I can catch them. I've come along way since I got started and have done pretty well playing and practicing. One of the best things about your vids are your objective teaching approach. Another one you might do if you haven't already is comparing two players. One always working vs the player who leaves it off on the come out roll. I've noticed the common practices of the game like bets off on the come out, getting people to always play the pass line, etc, are really more in favor of the casino..a missed payout on the come out is what they want. I know the difference will always be the guy who's rolling but statistically I'm betting the guy who's working bets more on the come out tends to win more.. thoughts?
@ColorUp

Well the 7 is due every 6 rolls, so doesn’t matter if bets are working or not...big red shows it’s head when it likes. The really long rolls I ever seen, the shooter threw their 7,s on come out rolls and that’s how they got to keep rolling
@jimeronimo
@jimeronimo 3 жыл бұрын
@@ColorUp agreed. I tend to think it's better to keep them working for exactly the same reason. And yes I've had some serious good rolls 24 to 59 amd that 7 would come exactly on those come outs. I've had only once so far I've tracked a 38 count roll that the 7 didn't show until the final 7out. Not normal of course.

I found this out years ago by writing down the rolls of each shooter at the crap table I was playing on and also when the seven came out after their point was made. I used to take three hits on the 5,6,8,9 but after eating a comp meal and looking in my black notepad where I kept track of all of the numbers rolled I then found out that I would make more profit by just taking two hits and then turning off all of my place bets vs taking three hits. On average the number seven rolls every six rolls. I only gave each shooter two rolls to hit the 5,6,8,9 and then turn my place bets off. I then missed so my sevens taking my place bets down. If more ways you can make a number the more times it will roll. If the 6,8,7 have not rolled in two rolls the chance of 6,8,7 will usually roll on the third of forth roll of the dice. My favorite dice strategy is the Iron Cross. I have the dealer place $15 on the 5, $18 on the six and eight, and $10 in the field for only two rolls and then tell the dealer to turn off my place bets. If my field bet is still on the crap table I take it off too.

All systems are gr8, some of the times. Problem is the results, are bad all of the times. If all dealer hole cards are faces, then all rolls are 7. Until their not. Start by risking as little as possible. This will ensure reserve if a chase is required. If you get a big enough lead, then go for the score. At the end of the day. Every dollar in your pocket is a dollar won, even if you lost.

Exactly wrong. Why start small? Luck is like stored energy. If you haven't gambled in awhile, you're going to start your next session on fire. Take advantage of it. Go it all on the first bet and double your bankroll. You'll see I was right, either way you choose to go.

Some observations? We could always play poker first, grind out a profit and take it to the craps table. Craps players like to play more than they like to walk away a winner. b. Players want to grind out a win. Instead of going for it within 6-8 rolls. Load up for one roll with “profits”. There’s nothing to say you can’t bet 100.00 hard 4, (then take it down) hop the 4’s, place the 4’s and bet the field. Don’t forget to add a few white chips (cheks) for a two way. Whilst the average is 8.5ish the more useful number is that just over fifty percent of shooters are actually done by roll 6. The wizard of odds does have a craps survivability table with the odds of surviving roll six just 49.72% So for me the take home is that the chance of continuing beyond roll 6 is starting to diminish whilst before roll six is a better than 50% chance. By the way it is a tough probability to calculate because it takes into account every possible game state and dice combination together.

What almost all of these “strategy demo” videos show is that the cardinal sin in playing any craps strategy is not having enough bankroll when you get to the table and relying on an early hot roll to buy you time. Any strategy is going to have some ups and more downs, you need to have enough cash to be there when/ if the “ups” come and enough discipline to leave before the table regresses to the mean.

I bought in for $1200 today. I placed $25 on the 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 two shooters in a row and they both went 7 out right away. I was pissed. I left the table down $250. I wound up winning $800 for the day but I have blackjack, not craps, to thank for the win. I like craps but do not think there is any strategy that enables people to consistently win money unless they are true dice control experts and only bet more than the table minimum on their own rolls. I have never nor will I ever place more than $25 across the line and am hesitant to do even that because I usually lose. If I go down $250 at the craps table I walk away and leave if I win $100. I never buy in for less than $1000. I think it is the worst table game. The only way to come out ahead is to have a big bankroll and bet conservatively. The casinos make money from people who cannot sustain losses
@benwhitnell
@benwhitnell 3 жыл бұрын
@@russellgrimes811 I mean, mathematically speaking there are NO strategies at ANY of the games that will allow someone to consistently win money over time assuming everyone is playing the game straight up. Sure you may miss one 15 # roll by pulling your bets down on the 5th roll. So what. You'll also miss 20 7 outs, on the 6th 7th n 8th rolls when u have the board all loaded up n get crushed time after time after time. My last trip to Las Vegas was my 1st losing trip in a while. I was doing good for 3 days, probably up $500 over all my sessions. , but the very last night I was at a casino with 10x odds and the table was extremely cold, no one was hitting the point and would seven out after only a few rolls. I did not blow my entire starting bankroll trying to win. So I consider that a positive :-) When I take my daughter to LV for her 21st birthday later in the year I'm going to switch to a "don't" strategy if I'm at a table like that again. As far as I can tell. There's a flaw in that computation w regard to expected profit and loss. As there's no weight given to the 2,3 n 12 on the come out for the dp shooter. It also seems to incorporates that the "continuation" of a 7 rolled on the come out, is no longer an independent event. But a "continuation" of past events. Which I understand. But clearly I'm missing something here. As it not only doesn't incorporate the roll of individual numbers and their placement during the rolls subsequent to the roll of a 7. But no apparent weighting to the 2 3 n 12. I believe if you weight the 2, 3 n 12 appropriately. It will change the expected payback ratio on the dp bet to the correct %. Because by my calculations with this math the expected house edge on the dp without weighting the payout on the dp front line winners is north of -2.1%. When we know it to be around -1.4% including the payout/push with the dp front line winners. While the math may bear out initially to show a shooter throwing an average of 8.5 rolls. While it may be correct mathematically on the surface. This is inherently flawed with regard to actual win/loss %. Because, we know that the only time a shooter must pass the dice, is when they 7 out. Therefore a craps roll on the come out. Doesnt require the shooter to pass the dice and must be weighted appropriately in our expected payback. BUT IN THIS CALCULATION IS INCLUDED AS A CONTINUATION IN THE SERIES OF "SUCCESFUL" ROLLS ??? And the number of total rolls per shooter. Not just as a continuation of a roll including a 7 on the initial come out roll. Someone show me what I'm missing here with regards to the lack of representation of our expected return when a craps or push is rolled on the come out as part of our "8.5" average rolls per shooter??? I believe with this incorporated (being the appropriate weighting of 2 3 n 12) it changes everything. And lowers the "true" average roll to around 5.5 per player. If we are to consider a successful roll to be one in which a shooter either 7s on the initial come out then points. Or 7s out after x amount of rolls. Because we aren't concerned about true total average rolls per shooter. Or at least we shouldn't be. We're concerned about expected avg win/loss %'s Ps: as a side note. Seems like a crappy little piece of skewed info thrown out there to try n get shooters to leave their bets on the table longer... til they get crushed. Jmho

Skewed info to get players to leave bets out longer???? Video advocates for 2 hits and down, can’t leave out much shorter. As far as the math, take it up with the many mathematicians that have published the avg roll is 8.5.

the craps rolls on come out, only endorses that avg roll is longer than the 7’s probability of six rolls. 33% of time there is a 7,11,2,3,12 on come out roll, thus extending shooters hand.

Next shooter. Now the next shooter could just as easily roll a 7 on their first roll, but you are hoping that each shooter can get closer to that 8.5 avg. a shooter who hits his point is that much closer to 8.5 avg. so wait for next shooter. That’s the theory anyway.

And you could still get back on the 4,5,6 if you wanted to with profit from the hitting numbers. You switched up to or simply press the hitting numbers. Gotta be flexible which is a struggle as well.

Considering even with “best mathematical bet” the game still can’t be beat long term. It is a gambling game for entertainment. You should have fun with it, and not be bored. People don’t play dont with lay odds because it’s boring. Math over long period of time you are right, but only the casino plays long term. Players play a few hours, or days. Long term math doesn’t really help in the short term, so any strategy could work, you just need a little luck. Don’t with lay odds is no secret, any given session it will lose as much or more than a “bad strategy”. Just depends how the dice roll that day.
