Hi! In my point of view you have made a mistake: Vp is not 36 kV. The value of Vp is equal to the voltage drop produced by the CT in the series circuit, with Vp max at1000 A (and much more in short circuit situation). The main difference between a conventional transformer and a CT is that in the former, the primary current depends on the secondary current and the magnetizing flux is the subtraction of the flux produced by the primary current and the flux produced by the secondary current. In the CT, the secondary current depends on the primary current and within certain limits given by the load characteristics, the resulting magnetic flux will also be as in the conventional transformer, the flux produced by the primary current minus that produced by the secondary current. If for some reason the load on the secondary winding decreases, to maintain the balance of currents and flux, the secondary voltage must increase, for example, if Ra is 20 Ohm instead of 2 Ohm, the voltage at the CT terminals will be 20 V instead of 2V for the same current of 1A . In the hypothetical case that the secondary load is an infinite impedance Ra=∞ (open circuit), the secondary voltage would increase for keep the balance current in circulation until it reaches its dielectric strenght limit.

Transformer theory is arguably one of the most complex disciplines of overall electrical theory. It’s nice to see someone break it down into smaller easier to understand videos. You could spend a year making videos on transformers and their different variants.

Thank you for your smooth and clear explaination ! How come an open circuit condition is dangerous for the CT but not for the transformer ?
@stargazer7644
@stargazer7644 24 күн бұрын
Because there is still current in the primary of the CT with an open secondary, but in a regular transformer if there's no current in the open secondary, then there can be no current in the primary. This was the core takeaway from this video.

Sir how much voltage is induced in case of Secondary is short circuit,in the video only said the voltage drop V=IR=1*2=2 volts this only voltage drop, what about the induced voltage in secondary,i get confused sir
@stargazer7644
@stargazer7644 24 күн бұрын
The voltage in the secondary depends on the load on the secondary. With 2 ohms, it is 2 volts. With an open circuit, it is megavolts.

If the meter is connected to the secondary we are getting the voltage drop of 2V then , then 36000Kv- 2v will be resultant voltage even meter is connected, then how could be the safe.
@stargazer7644
@stargazer7644 24 күн бұрын
When the meter is connected, the voltage is 2V. Not 36000kV-2V.
