As a leftist, I hate that extremists on the left like IPoS feel obligated to speak on _everybody's_ behalf. By this guy's logic, I'm obligated to despise people who lean to the political right, which is pretty much precisely what's wrong with politics today. The whole "You're either with us or against us" mentality like politics is a fucking football game and there's only two teams who speak for EVERYBODY. It's why when you come across something political online, it always feels downright poisonous. My father's a republican. He doesn't hate me and I don't hate him. My landlord is a republican. Not only is he a good and supportive landlord (in this day-and-age, that's the REAL shocker), but he's great to chat with. Can't we all just get along, _for five goddamn seconds?_ Can't we watch a bearded guy talk about shit like Siren Head and other such cryptids without trying to boil the presenter's life down to nothing but politics? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

From the outside looking in, with how prevalent US politics is online (legitimately, alot of people think the internet is the US) it is a giant bubble that's looking like it's bursting. Of course i only get the most extreme view because i see alot of it on the internet, but i can't imagine how it's like living there if you are a normally thinking person and not an extremist just waiting their turn to burn your country down. The truth of the matter is that this seems like history kinda repeating itself. All nations has gone through and will go through massive societal change, and historically that doesn't necessarily look pretty, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's also a time for change, it's just navigating the right people in the right place at the right time that's difficult. My fear is that money has gotten such a stranglehold on US politics, that there's little chance to get the right person in place, in the right time to deal with the problems facing your country, but there is a chance for success. Maybe the solution is for the non-extremist left and right join together in the center, truelly abandon the radicals to argue with eachother, while you focus on campaigning, funding etc. a 3rd party candidate who actually gives a shit about the American people, and doesn't just follow along with the extremist rhetoric. Both the democrats and the republican parties just seem done tbh, i see very little chance that any of them will ever fundamentally change the system, which is needed, your country needs plurality representation. Something has to happen, and it's better for the moderates to do it than the extremists. Somehow get the remaining 40% some percent of your country to vote, plurality representation might help with that. I can definently see a future for the US as a parliamentarian country, and honestly i think that would help you out alot with the radicalisation of people who feel disenfrachised and give more options to the people who feel jaded by the current status quo. Of course, easier said than done, and it has always taken multiple generations. Rome wasn't build in a day, as they say.

Yeah, as a centrist its getting really tiring to create any sort of discussion in modern political environment. It has to be this side or other and refusing to take a side will get you called a "fence-sitter" and funnily enough even called Far-right and Far-left on the same day. I guess it is impossible nowadays to find nuance and weight the merits and demerits of both sides. Even refusing to play the game and being apolitical is considered a political statement. And here i thought Zoomers are the ones with brainrot.

Yeah for many you can at least see how or why they ended up where they are. You might not agree but there is a line to follow. This really feels like a shizophrenic episode except he had to write the script, gather "evidence", edit and upload the video.

I feel like we are in a simulation with the unreasonable amount of brainrot in the world nowadays. If we were to figure out that our life was a game of Sims the brainrot would be a bug that was made into a feature I would think. Love your input on things and I hope you are doing well!

Being conservative is generally being traditional... They typically want to stick with what they know works... Keep change to a minimum... ... Probably the opposite would be progressives, who are typically always looking for a way to change things (ideally for the better, but they are rarely satisfied and always looking to make things better, while sometimes being more short-sighted in regards to the consequences). Ideally you want a nice balance of the two... Too conservative and you may miss opportunities to improve things and at times you have to change to meet new challenges or you will fail, too progressive and you can end up trying to improve things too much and make them worse... Or pay too big a cost for it. Alongside these two are probably also libertarian and authoritarian... Libertarians generally want less intervention by authority figures, while authoritarian people generally want more... Again, ideally a balance works best... Without some authority cracking down on the worst issues, there's a good chance that many bad people will take advantage more often, but over policing means no one has any freedom and most people will likely live in fear... There may be issues relating to lack of creativity etc... Funnily enough, the more extreme people get towards either conservatism or progressivism, the more extreme they tend to get towards authoritarianism... Typically a society won't fall fully on one side or another, so in order to maintain one extreme, it needs to be enforced by those in power... I'm probably oversimplifying, but hopefully you get the idea... Also hopefully you aren't fully turned off by the relation to politics, because in many ways it's also more than that... Or maybe rather politics is? Even if you don't want to put too much emphasis on the side relating to how things should be governed or whatever, there's also the group psychology or philosophy aspect or whatever... You know?

I like this summary, very simple to understand and fairly unbiased. I like to describe conservatism as being cautious of change because we risk losing so much if this house of cards we call society collapses, while progressivism is being adamant that we can always improve, why are we content with the devil we know? The toxicity in politics frustrates me. Everyone in a democratic society needs to be involved and informed, but if those who do not see it as a hobby are insulted, mocked, and persecuted by the "informed", they'll just tune out, go with their (uninformed) gut, and call it a day. There are pros and cons to every honest position, and everyone weighs those based on their own beliefs and experiences. Branding the opposition as "racists" or "commies" and not seriously considering their position is not only shutting out perspectives you may not have considered, but it's how you force people into distinct tribes. Once you do that, the odds of violent conflict skyrocket, and the winner will not always be the one who was morally in the right...

For someone who wants to seem so upset that someone made a video with our favorite avocado, he sure can't say his name correctly. His response on X was awful. I'm sorry, but it was the worst explanation ever. "Oh, I've gotten tons of things factually wrong because I'm an idiot who can't control my emotions. Yes, i got things wrong but that doesn't change my opinion that all conservatives are evil and that wendigioon shouldn't be allowed to exist in horror or public spaces because i don't agree with his political or religious views. Oh, also, everything else i said that was factually wrong i stand behind as well but yeah, I shouldn't have used those pictures." His idea that people calling him names means they're nazis is just as crazy as his other takes. I'm the type of guy to hear someone said a slur and go "Oh no, anyway..." Because i understand that words only have power that you give them. Just like money only has value because we decided it did. People who make it seem like someone was out there physically assaulting people have no life. Horror is about the thrill of fear and suspense in a safe environment where you're allowed to express these feelings without being in danger, with various underlying types of horror invoking different fears, occasionally with other ideas mixed in. At least that's my view of horror😅😊
