I wish people would stop saying "there's no precedent" for something to happen. If things only happened if there was precedent for it to happen, nothing new would ever happen with anything. There are plenty of times that teams absolutely should have moved on from a QB but didn't simply because of how hard it is to find a competent one and they keep paying a guy who isn't working for them. I'm not 100% sure it makes more sense to continue paying a QB who isn't getting it done rather than overpaying for the rest of the roster, a coach, and finding yourself a Brock Purdy who is good enough in general and more than good enough on a stacked roster.
