I say that to joke.. but I actually think Rice is better Partey now in the 6. Recently he's been spraying the ball around to higher places up the pitch - a key trait Partey does.. can you honestly see Partey covering the amount of grass Rice does ? even getting into the box to score key goals, then getting back to clear of the line so many times, and then making surging dribbles at pace in the 90th minute driving thru the middle of the pitch? Insane

The fact that partey and rice haven't had a decent run playing together is mind blowing... when partey is back that midfield is scary. Also I knew rice was good... but now he's in a team with no disrespect to West ham better players he's a monster... also helps he's got arguably The best cb ďuo in the world right now. One thing not mentioned about Rice is not just what he does, but also how the rest of the team react, not only when he does what he does successfully, but also when he does get bypassed or makes a mistake - when that happens you see anyone of Martinelli, Odegaard, Havertz or even Jesus sprint back to cover him. This allows him to back his ability and take those risks of vacating those large spaces. Even though he is highly successful most of the time, the rest of the team are very fast at spotting when he is not successful and put in sprints just to cover.

You also have to mention how both of the cb's love one on one situations against strikers and how well they manage those. Even when the press goes wrong and Saliba or Gabriel end up in dangerous situations, they almost always bail the team out with outrageous defending.

With Kobbie Mainoo sitting james makes a great point but it’s also very different. United’s back line is so deep and front line is so high that he simply can’t do what rice does without getting torn apart. Also arsenals overall shape is so much better with players being disciplined in their areas. Opposite to united, also arsenals wingers and front line players actually work hard so rice doesn’t have to compensate for them. At united no one does anything. Think it’s a bit harsh and unfair to draw out an 18 year old who made his full debut a week ago. Especially when comparing him to one of the leagues best midfielders.

@@ACE360x The ECFL? Not very much in itself. Around 20-30 mil for prizes and ticket sales. However, we'll see this season about the downstream effects. The win has kept us a European side and allowed us to improve our squad. There is a butterfly effect to being regularly competitive at a higher-level. It changes how people see you. Rice carried us last for years but we also lacked the money to strengthen in all areas, and obv he couldn't be everywhere at once. Selling rice has allowed us to be a more balanced and competitive top-half team. The future is bright for WH. If we can stay in or around Europe, then it's a change of pace for West Ham fans. The best we could previously hope for was midtable. It's very hard for PL teams to change their lane. Something exceptional needs to happen. I'd say having Rice come through the ranks at the right time was "massive". Rice is giving you a lot of balance and security to your team, which means everyone plays better, so maybe he'll make that critical difference for you.

My biggest problem with the transfer was WTF does a guy in his last year with a club still cost 100+ million? Like seriously thats sketchy as hell. Or a failed German wunderkind who has done shit in a Chelsea shirt. Still cost the same as when Chelsea first signed him. Except now we get to pay his exorbitant wages. I'm not joking any financial specialist would look at these deals and say this shit doesn't make sense? Havertz, for instance, you would say (history aside), best case scenario. He scores 10 goals and makes 10 assists in all competitions. He has never ever done that at Chelsea. At 65 million and very high wages, you could buy almost anyone for that package. So why Kai Havertz?

I can't wait for this moment in roughly a year and a half to 2 years when everyone realises just how average Declan Rice is. He has physicality, he is NOT athletic. Zinchenko fills in his distribution from the back. His stats do no corroborate what you're saying. He has what I call the Michael Dawson effect. Always ready to throw himself in for a dead cert hero moment - he takes too many touches when shifting the ball, he's incredibly 1st phase. There's a tonne of reasons. England fans are gonna be butthurt when they realise. Declan Rice, not good enough to be a centre half or an out and out 8. Congratulations on championing mediocrity again lads.
