Thought Yzerman also wouldn't give up a 1st Rd but then if the spring of 2024, the wings are playoff bound without scoring Debrincat would be worth a 1st Rd pick. But with no time to negotiate an extension, Debrincat would have leverage. This way, he's in camp and extended moderately and affordably. And with Zadina and Kubalik off the salary cap - even more affordable. Smart Smart Guy this Yzerman.

Yzerman is a certified genius. He is not flawless no one is but he constantly builds a champion at every level everywhere he goes.

Mr. Darren McCarty, I believe in the Yzerman he took his time with Tampa Bay Lightning and he is taking his time undoing Mr. Kenny's mess of overpaid slackers and Kenny's long term contracts that Yzerman didn't like and kept a few Kenny's diamonds 💎 in the rough.

Darren I love ya n I’ll see you soon but my only comment is that Alex shouldn’t be on a line with larkin. You need a center that’s a good passer you need an Igor. I would put larkin on more of a line with Perron. I heard* didn’t research that JT Compher is a facilitator with the puck so maybe have him jump up to that first line with Raymond and Alex to work the puck around n distribute it to those goal scores. Jus my thoughts but agree believe in stevie n be patient ppl who play the game know the process so relax. We are not building a team that can crack the playoffs we are building a dynasty that can compete for a cup n not just squeak in and get murdered every year like Toronto

Debrincat is a good add, but temper expectations. Larkin isn't Patrick Kane. 30-35 goals is realistic and lots of horrid defensive play.

As a seven year old I was told not to trust men offering me a sucker on the sidewalk on the way home from school. Yzerman is offering something far more dangerous - the delusion of a Stanley Cup in the next few years.

People are excited because the best goal scorer available at moment was DeBrincat and Stevie got him and didn’t have to give away Bergrren to do it.

@@user-pd5qz2vt2c We could make the playoffs next year but we are not ready to go deep in the playoffs. So, most Wings fans wanted a scorer this offseason and that is what Stevie Y got us Fans. So we are happy, we see the progress, the forward movement, building a core that will be around for years. Nobody is thinking Stanley cup this year or next year or even the year after that. Playoffs this year would be nice, fighting for the playoffs all year long is what I expected, to be playing for a spot in the playoffs till game 82. Those are this Life long Red Wings fan expectations.
