How can they track him if there is no cellular phone network in the area. The GPS unit on the dog connects with the cellular network for the owner to track it.

Unfortunately that wouldn't help him from being distracted and running away. Your best bet is to seek a trainer. BUT that GPS collar would be good for both !

Yea, I have big European hairs where I live, and even though I have clocked my dogs at over 40 mph, they still can't catch them. They sure come back beat, tail between the legs, and very obedient after, but they always have the 'it was sooo worth it' grin on their face.

This was almost me in April in NV (big dunes). GMC 3500HD Dually. Saving grace was all the things I learned from Matt. Air down, 4 low, get on top of the sand and don't stop. We got out, but the adrenaline was pumping! All I could hear in my head was Matt saying "they had no business being out there in that truck". LOL

After going to Utah and off roading, believe Matt when he says that the sand is fine. At one point I thought my truck was actually sinking while just sitting there. I had my tires down to 12psi, I don't go any lower and they were still to hard for that sand.

i ve never been there but just looking the channel you can see how a lot of people understimate the sand from there , looks super dry and thin a very hard terrain to drive

@@NikoMoraKamu I don’t know if you’ve ever “sand” blasted or worked with glass bead but we used to work with it all the time and it’s so slippery we’d have drifting competitions around the warehouse with the forklifts. Sand hollow sand feels like glass bead or miniature ball bearings. The kids love it and it’s nice when you’re walking through the lake fishing but it can sure suck your car up fast just don’t ever show up there over confident because sand hollow sand will teach you a lesson fast. Luckily I haven’t had to be pulled out but I’ve came close but every time we go there there we see people that drove on the beach and got stuck and are digging out or getting pulled out.

Huntin' dogs just gotta hunt...watched my lab chase a jack rabbit down one canyon and up the other until they were just dots on the horizon. Ah man, was his tongue hanging to the ground when I finally caught back up to him. He just couldn't help himself.

I have a rescue Border Collie and she is like Max. Difficult to call her back. Raised a GSD from 6 weeks (now almost 3) and she helps with keeping Collie from taking off for miles. Border Collie once jumped out my truck, my fault, and dodged highway traffic and bolted. GSD tracked her over ~5 miles and we found her. I love her to death, she is a sweetheart!

And I could hear that dog running all night long. ❤ he also used to bring fire wood to the camp all night to. I would get up in the morning and there would be wood everywhere. Lol

@@dubious6718 yup, it wouldn't be able to get 75% of the vehicles shown on the channel moving in sand, snow or mud with a regular strap or a chain. Like people always ask why nobody helps when there are 10 people around, well, it's all about having the right equipment at hand.

What to do about Max, electronic "Invisible Fence" Collar, mount the unit in the Banana and turn it on before you let him out. If he tries to go beyond the limit of the transponder, he will be corrected by the collar.

Eh, they’re not off-roading, they’re just camped along the reservoir and made a wrong choice of which meandering path to take to get back to the pavement. That’s what happens in the lion’s share of extractions they do at Sand Hollow, it seems. The extremely fine sand just sucks a heavy vehicle down deep, fast.

My pup just passed away a couple of days ago :( so it's nice to see Lady in the video. When I was training my dog to get in my truck, without realizing it, I used the command "load up,"...guess it was in my head from hearing Matt say it often.

Funny anecdote about "Sam". When my Dad was about 6 or so years old my grandfather took him to the rodeo. In the small town they lived in was an old man they called "Laughing Sam". My Dad was laughing about the cowboys getting bucked off and my grandfather started calling him "Sam" that night. It stuck. He was known as Sam until his death and many who knew him didn't know his name was Tommy Glenn and no other "Sam's" were in the whole family.
