Why Did Constantine Call the Council of Nicaea?

There are many false claims and incorrect beliefs about exactly what occurred at the Council of Nicaea, and why it needed to be called in the first place. Did it have anything to do with the canon of scripture? Did Constantine strong-arm bishops into agreeing to the concept of the Trinity? We tackle all of that and more in this video.

Something minor but at the same time monumental about Constantine that you didn’t mention - his mum was widely known to be a committed Christian (St Helena). He couldn’t continue persecuting Christians but protect his beloved mother. St Helena is actually a fascinating woman. She ordered officials to search the Holy Land for relics associated with Christ’s life and bring whatever could be moved back to Rome. And so Rome’s churches are still full of bits of buildings from Christ’s Jerusalem. Constantine also let his mum organise Christianity into a working religion - devising what a “church” should look like, where they should be placed in Rome (ie above early Christian meeting places or where saints were buried or martyred etc) and codifying church litany. Early church history of the 4th century is incredibly fascinating.

By the time that Emperor Constantine wanted a universal religion, the believers in Christ were already divided as to what teachings were truly those of Christ. It would have been quite easy to exert his influence by validating the control of the priesthood over the new orthodox church, using his authority and approval The irony is that this new religion, with his influence, had morphed into a heterodoxy of paganism, mythology and severely amended and abridged available teachings imagined to be those of Christ. Paul and Constantine never knew Christ and yet they had the greatest influence over what was included in the New Testament.

I was expecting a large documentary on Constantine and more about his personal Christianity. However, this fits the function: send this to someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. The title tricked me there. Most of the info I alread knew. However some facts like: He also had pagan gods were a nugget. But else, keep going! Good work💪

Council of Nicea was chaired by the papal legate. It began with the reading of a letter from the Pope. The Biblical canon was established by the Council of Rome in AD 382.

My question is as follows. If we are to go to the Bible for an answer to the question of rather Jesus, Holy Ghost, or God, are indeed one in essence, a Trinity, then who is the final authority on what was put in the Bible.

GOD YEHOVAH IS GREATER THAN MEN, GREATER THAN ALL THE COUNCIL OF GOD YEHOVAH IS GREATER THAN THE COUNCIL OF MEN THE WORD OF GOD YEHOVAH IS GREATER THAN THE WORD OF MEN THE COUNSEL OF GOD YEHOVAH IS HIGHER THAN THE COUNSEL OF MEN THE WAY OF GOD YEHOVAH IS HIGHER THAN THE WAY OF MEN YEHOVAH THE TRUE GOD ALONE IS THE MOST HIGH. Psalm 83:18 ASV That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, Art the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 97:9 ASV For thou, Jehovah, art most high above all the earth: Thou art exalted far above all gods. 2 Chronicles 2:5 ASV And the house which I build is great; for great is our God above all gods. Psalm 135:5 ASV For I know that Jehovah is great, And that our Lord is above all gods. Psalm 105:7 ASV He is Jehovah our God: His judgments are in all the earth. Jeremiah 8:8-9 ASV How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes hath wrought falsely. [9] The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them? Jeremiah 23:18,35-37 ASV For who hath stood in the council of Jehovah, that he should perceive and hear his word? who hath marked my word, and heard it? [35] Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, What hath Jehovah answered? and, What hath Jehovah spoken? [36] And the burden of Jehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man's own word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of hosts our God. [37] Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath Jehovah answered thee? and, What hath Jehovah spoken? Deuteronomy 13:1-5 ASV If there arise in the midst of thee a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give thee a sign or a wonder, [2] and the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; [3] thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or unto that dreamer of dreams: for Jehovah your God proveth you, to know whether ye love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul. [4] Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. [5] And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, to draw thee aside out of the way which Jehovah thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. Isaiah 55:6-9 ASV Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near: [7] let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. [8] For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. [9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Psalm 4:3-5 ASV But know that Jehovah hath set apart for himself him that is godly: Jehovah will hear when I call unto him. [4] Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah [5] Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in Jehovah. Proverbs 14:34 ASV Righteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people.

Unfortunately your bias taints the video so many times. Is your goal to tell history or evangelize? You can't honestly do both.

It is not bias. Christian Foundation had been in error ever since the New Testament was attached to the original Bible. Pastors try to cover up this by citing old testament verses as prophecy of Jesus Christ. But no amount of cover up can right the lies. Now many Christians are leaving their blind faith and returning to the old testament.

@@rossenrosete9453 I agree many are leaving the religious denominations for they are learning that what is being taught is not completely of God but what man has created. Isaiah 29:13 and Matthew 15:8. Without a beginning there can not be an end and Old Testament supplies the beginning. We must not abandon the New Testament however, especially the gospels where Christ marks out the road we must travel to enter the kingdom.

@@DanHutchings-xx7ug That is wise although even the new testament is divided in teachings. 80% is Paul Doctrines. The remaining the Christians do not follow. They follow Paul. Not Jesus.

@@rossenrosete9453 Thing is many really don't know Paul and understanding him is hard. Spent years and most of what I have learn many take Paul out of context and use one or two scriptures to for example to try to validate we no longer need to follow God's law. Yet in Romans alone Paul tells us over 25 times the importance of the law and following it. Now when I speak of the law I speak in reference to God's law. Jesus erased all the sacrificial and ceremonial laws when He went to the cross. Don't know if you have studied Paul but his history and his devotion to Christ was amazing.

@@DanHutchings-xx7ug See Christians Denominations when a Christian says he had visions of Jesus, Mary, etc. They are quick to condemn as angel of darkness gave them the vision. And do not recognized such things even the Fatima Vision. Always reserved and dismissed. But the visions of Peter on the Unclean Good and that of Paul's Damascus appointment as leading apostle, they embraced wholeheartedly and will defend the visions with their life if needed.

Constantine was good because he legalized Christianity, and gave money to the church. However he was not a Christian, he was an Arian at best. But most likely, he worshiped many gods including favoring the Christian God. There are better Christian emperors who were strong in the faith like Justinian I, and of course Charlemagne the Great.
