Because F1 cares about the money it brings in. There's a reason why IndyCar stopped doing a Vegas Street race.

The way the fans have been treated has been a total disgrace

1am EST start is why I'm giving up F1; FOR GOOD! 2009 was a slap to the face of every North American F1 fan and with this start time, I'm done. Nearly 50% of Americans live in the Eastern Time Zone and F1 said SCREW ALL OF THEM! I was such a fan that I named my dog, Mika, after Mika Hakkinen. NO MORE F1!

I forgot which race was the one that started at 1am Eastern in North America.

F1 didn't apologize because the CAN'T. If they apologize, it means that they were at fault and might have to do something that is a mortal sin in the eyes of F1, Give money back. Personally, anyone who paid $200 to watch F1 practice is either not going to miss it, or is not real bright, or a combination of the two.
