Hiya! Today’s video is a bit of a long one, but there’s a LOOOOT of sketchbook pages and spreads to get through! I’ll be taking you through my 2020-2022 mixed media sketchbook (I know, I know, this took WAY too long), and showing you the good, the bad and the REALLY bad. Some grab some tea and sit for a spell!

Ah, a sketchbook tour!!!! 😄 this was SO fun to watch. I used to think that every page in a sketchbook should be filled with “perfect” art but now I’ve come to see that it’s a place for people to explore and experiment. Sketchbooks take me the longest time to fill. I come back to pages and work on them in such a messy order 😅 so glad to see this Allie! Love the berries and plants so much 💖👏👏

"Perfect" sketchbook spreads can be so much fun, but for every nice spread I have there are 12 that came before that SUCKED. 😅 Sketchbooks are ALL about exploration and discovery, and it's totally okay for them to be kinda crazy! The best adventures are messy. 😄 I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour!!

The blue bird looks like a common kingfisher, and the middle bird with the red chest looks like a european robin. 😊 Love the sketchbook, very inspiring!

i love the way you draw birds, it inspired me very much! also, i agree with not drawing in a chronical order, for me it’s much easier to sit down and draw without any stress of filling my sketchbook. amazing video and you just got a new sub! ❤️

The black and white value studies are my favorite! It’s also taken me a long time to fill my sketchbook :’( I started it back in 2019 and still have around thirty pages, ugh!

@@allisonaletha robins are the Christmas birds with red bellies 🙂 and kingfishers are sparkly blue like the rivers they dive into when fishing! Also kingfishers look quite streamlined which aligns with their diving nature 🌞

Interesting!! I had a DISASTER of a time working with watercolors in this (probably user error 🤦‍♀️😂) but I’m glad you find the experience more enjoyable! Is watercolor your favorite art medium??

@@allisonaletha Watercolor is by far my favorite medium 😍 and I don't use that mixed media book for finished pieces but I think its great for playing/journaling/urban sketching You should give it another shot lol

That's awesome!! I definitely want to get my watercolors out again soon. I'll definitely try to give it a shot again soon! I've been wanting to do some more plein air painting, so.... 💛
