I own this model watch (brown dial) and I love it. I work at an aquarium and I have had it salt water more times than I can count. As for materials my favorites are silver, bronze, jade, amber, and depleted uranium.

I think tungsten is real cool for a couple of reasons. It's got the highest melting and boiling point of any element, as well as being extremely hard making it super scratch resistant and durable. It's got a cool naturally dark grey color that I prefer over steel or silver. Oh, and it's also called wolfram which is kinda badass

Favorite material is bronze hands down. My first bronze watch was a Glycine airman GMT 44mm. From the moment I put it in my wrist I fell in love with it. Bronze is very unique and vintage looking, it pairs best with brown leather and a coffee coloured dial. Also bronze looks particularity attractive and so natural on darker skin. Much respect David

Bronze is mine. My father owned an Industrial Marine supply, so I was always around marine equipment which was usually bronze. I have this watch and the look of it and... Strange as it sounds... Smell of this watch takes me back to being a kid and working with my Dad.

One of the nice things about patina is that it’s a protective oxide layer. Bronze doesn’t rust through like iron does. That’s why we can find 3,000 year old Shang bronze vessels almost perfectly preserved, but 50 year old steel cars are piles of rust.

I have this watch, I love it. The arabics stolen straight from big brother’s (Explorer 1016) closet really sets it apart from the rest of the BB catalog. That and the color way just make this an incredible casual watch. Not versatile, but that makes it even more of a baller move LOL.

Yellow gold. Nothing quite like it. Yellow gold can change your entire mood the second you put it on. Yes, yellow gold is a softer metal which makes it more fragile, but that only adds to the character. Having to handle it with extra care and the added maintenance only makes it that much more precious.

One of the things that few people realize today is that none of the early Tudors were "officially certified chronometers". That was the big difference between Tudor and Rolex back then!

Favorite Material: White Gold, can be mistaken for steel and I love the fact that a precious metal can be so understated. My mind immediately goes to the white gold GMT with the midnight-blue dial. This is a watch that looks like the Steel GMT, minus the blue dial and if you were to meet a fellow watch geek, they'd know... but if you showed it to a casual (non-collector) type of person, they'd likely think it is steel :)

Personally I'm a fan of the cheap steel cases with a thin gold plating that rubs away after a few years. I think it's the quintessential watch material that everyone's grandpa has at least one of.

A favorite metal material of mine is SM-100. Originally created for aerospace ball bearings it was taken on by custom Knife-makers to make blades out of. When heat treated it takes on a mainly gold color, has a high Rockwell when hardened, yet still has some flexibility to it while being able to keep great edge retention and corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel. It's accessible, it can be finished in various ways with many different features: high polished, satin, brushed and my favorite which is brushed with high polished bevels! Each manufacturer does it differently which and so no brushed or satin watch will look really the same. Take for instance the brushed finished sides of omega seamaster and speed master, compared to the brushed finish of a rolex, its completely different. Steel for the win!

LEATHER, yes leather, I guess in the watch world they only think of leather for straps, but in the shoe and boot world the quality of leather is everything, from what part of the animal it comes to how it’s been tanned, weather by tanning with organic materials or chemically, leather is long lasting, and because of it it patinas as well, in a way leather weather in shoes bags or jackets also tells stories just like watches.

High resistance to creep, nice 👌. Since you didn't specify what the material is for I'd have to say Cuben Fabric; it's an ulta-high molecular weight, high density fiber that is randomly pressed in fabric. It's used in space applications, america's cup sails, and body armor. Amazing stuff and dare I say, space-age.

I have a bunch of Rolex watches but oddly my favorite watch is my Tudor Pelagos made from titanium. Durable and light and has this nice no business look. Rolex needs to make a titanium watch as well someday soon. For a tool watch there is no better material. Worse material - 18kt gold- I have a sub in all gold and it is so delicate that it can hardly be worn.

MY FAVORITE MATERIAL ON WATCHES IS BRONZE BECAUSE OF THE PATINA IT CREATES. I HAVE ONE AND AFTER USING IT IN THE SEA IT TURNS IN TO A BLUE PURPLISH COLOR THAT IS JUST AMAZING. ON THE LUME I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RADIUM I THINK IT HAD A GRATE SHINE WHEN THEY USED IT IN VINTAGE WATCHES,.AND ALSO OVER TIME OMG, IT LOOKS PERFECT SPECIALLY IN THE ROLEX SUBMARINER. BUT WELL I DO UNDERSTAND THIS MATERIAL WAS A BIG ISSUE FOR THE INDUSTRY. AND the LAST TANTALUM THAT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ITS LIKE A DARK GREY METAL THAT GIVES ALSO LIKE A BLUE COLOUR DEPENDING ON THE ANGLE. BTW MY FAVORITE WATCH ON THIS MATERIAL IS THE CHORNOMETRE BLUE.

My favorite material is steel. You can do some really cool and interesting things with metallurgy. Nitrogen-based steels are virtually rust-proof. LC200N is an example. It was used by NASA for ball bearings, but has found its way into other markets. Then you add the heat treat process on top of the chemistry. Lots of cool stuff is happening in the world of steel (not that it is always applicable to watches).

My favorite material has to be white gold, at first glance you would think it’s steel, but just like John Mayer would say get a little bit closer and you will realize it’s something much more special. Perfect example of “if u know u know”. Havind said tha, it’s kind of funny that we, humans, are the ones who attribute such value to gold when it’s just like every other metal.

Nice vid! I have owned my Tudor BB Heritage since new in 2017. It has a very nice darker gray bronze look now and it has become one of favorite watches for daily wear. I discovered something great about it when looking for another strap to replace the original leather one, which was a bit too small for my wrist. Also I didn’t like the color of the OEM leather either. Anyway, I own a Panerai 1351 which I usually wear on the brown rubber strap mostly so I have the leather strap that came with the Panerai and it turns out that it fits the Tudor Heritage very well. And the Tudor buckle fits perfect too. Now I know the Panerai strap is a 24mm and the Tudor lugs are 23mm in size but what’s 1mm between the lugs? Nothing, trust me, so try it if you have one in your box. You’ll be happy!

Nice to see different materials being experimented with like bronze. Just wonder if passing fad/trend and owners will be stuck with an expensive over patina-ed luxury watch. I don't recall the last time I was ever excited about flashing my over oxidized penny collection? I also don't think I would be able to discuss my watch to a watch enthusiast wearing an all steel or gold tutor/rolex. That being said....why do I STILL want this watch!? Something about it that I just need to have. And thanks to Theo and Harris now I'm on the website constantly hitting refresh waiting for it to go up on the website to see it posted for sale like it's a PS5!

I love my Navy Blue Black Bay 58. I managed to order this version from a boutique. When it arrived, I could not warm up to it (I tried). You need to wear mostly earth-tone clothing. It was never going to work with my blue shirts (in the videos, it's hard to understand this). Many photos make it look dark, like it would go with a wider variety of clothing. In person (in most daylight), the bezel looks like a beautiful copper, and the chocolate brown on the dial dominates it. I even tried my shirts that are camouflage green. The combination did not pop for me. I dumped this watch quickly within a day (at a significant loss). DO NOT ORDER IT ONLINE WITHOUT TRYING IT ON FIRST. It's not the bronze metal that is the problem. It's the copper/chocolate combination on the bezel and dial. More than any other Black Bay, try this on before buying.
