JazakAllah Khair, for the explanation. We have been following local moonsighting for 20+ years here in Sydney, and it has never failed us. Alhamdulilah. Our Prophet ﷺ has the easiest and most convenient way. Unfortunately different countries operate differently and there will always be some issues going with other countries, hence we just follow the local sighting. May Allah Guide, Protect and Unite us all. Ameen.

What an amazing explanation. Now I understand how this decision has been made specifically for Australia. Whoever is fasting today can feel at ease that we have followed the literal Sunnah of the Messenger SAWS. Alhamdulilah Allah swt blessed us with the opportunity to fast for one more day for Ramadan and who knows if this will be the last Ramadan we will witness. May Allah accept our worship and forgive our sins.

Alhamdulillah 100% good topic Ya Shikh because in the Philippines there are few area follow the day where Saudi Arabia sighting the moon. yet Majority of the People in the Philippines have followed the Darul Iftah that our Eid is Saturday because the moon was not seen today Friday

Uk is 3hrs behind Makkah and 10hrs behind Australia. In UK we got announcement of moon sighting from Makkah before Asr on 29th Ramadhan around 4pm. So Australia would've got the announcement around 2, 3am. Bangladesh did Eid on Satruday and completed 29 fasts like us.

Jazakallah Khairan ya Shaikh, very well explained. The scientific calculation method is more than 5,000 years old and was accurate even then. BUT Allah S.W.T and His Rasool PBUH did not recommend the calculation method, PERIOD, FULL STOP, no argument. The modern day scientists can tell position of moon in terms of 4D (4 dimensional), but when it comes to sighting of moon even on a clear sky night, they do not guarantee.

Clarification and of the "GLOBAL" system, there's no contradiction, as like this speech, because, the moon, sun and moon are moving towards one direction. It comes, one by one only. Not in between! So the GLOBAL, is accurate to the Quraan and sunnah.

We had the problem here in South Africa. Botswana is above us and is only 4.5 hours away from Johannesburg yet they sighted the moon and they ie Botswana commenced Ramadaan a day before us but South Africa did not use Botswana opinion . We usually look within our man made borders in South Africa ie Durban on the east thats almost 6 hours away then Capetown that is 15 hours away from Johannesburg, and of course Johannesburg in itself. So it has been controversial here in South Africa. Ie our scholars followed method 1 of sheikhs methodology of moon sighting. So seeking the last ten odd days in South Africa has been questionable. I also would prefer method 3, the global opinion but I am just a layman. Furthermore, it gets very political here amongst the various sects such as the barelwi and deobandi the largest sectarian forms in South Africa. Hence opinion 3 is just about fair and equitable. Our times aren't too far off from Egypt it's the same UK anyway. . So it ls practical to use global! We are still living in apartheid isolation it seems lol. It is what it is. تقبلالله منا ومنكم

Sheikh what did you mean when you said anything that comes after the calculation consensus makes calculation method rejected? What was the thing that came? Also if we shouldn’t use technology ( like the helicopter) to sight the moon does that mean we should not use telescopes etc too? Jazak Allahu kheir

Isn't the purpose to fulfil the command of Allah on the sunnah of the prophet saw. There is no unity in missing a day of ramadan in other words in disobedience of Allah in this matter which is clear. Sight by eye. And during the time of sahaba in the arab world they fasted on diferent days. Unity wasn't there amongst them in this matter but they weren't disunited. Allah knows best.

How can you fast on the day of eid,we just have one moon,and we dont live in 14th century

All due respect sheikh but you commented on a ladies fb comment saying the global moon sighting was the much better option. You all started fasting with Saudi it doesn’t make sense not to do Eid with them! Another thing is why follow them on Eid Al Adha and now this year you all conveniently changed your minds. You started on one thing and finished on another.
