I'm currently working on a high budget Vader short film for you all...I'll be discussing more about it in the near future. I always considered that since Grievous was dead the war was effectively over and the Jedi were going to ask Palpatine to step down and surrender his emergency powers. Only when they realized that Palpatine was the Sith Lord who masterminded the war did they move in for an arrest. While being a Sith may technically not be a crime Palpatine was still orchestrating the war and planning a coup, hence the arrest was legitimate. The Jedi party led by Mace Windu was basically a Jedi SWAT team. When Sidious killed 3 Jedi masters in 5 seconds Windu realized the situation was even more serious than he feared, but he still made one last attempt to arrest Sidious, but immediately afterwards Sidious blasted him with Force lightning. At this point I assume Windu realized he should bend the Jedi code a little and take out Palpatine.

*at the same time* Palpatine: execute order 66 Jedi: execute order 65 What would happen?

What about the Stormtrooper who bumped his head? Because Jango Fett also had a tendency for this, wouldn't that mean that that Stormtrooper was one of the originals clones (not a trained individual). So, that Stormtrooper is actually one of the best Stormtroopers in the Imperial army.

Petition to make "What if Palpatine accidentally executed order 65 instead of 66"

I was like "you're aiming for 400k when you at 2+ million?" then i noticed how.old the video is

I feel this theory is forgetting what Palpatine did that *was* illegal. Namely, using his alias of Darth Sidious, he led the Separatist movement, and thus was directly responsible for all deaths in the war, on both sides. Surely, it must be illegal to wage war on the Republic while leading it as well. At best, he's a prisoner of war. At worst, a war criminal. The Jedi could have publicly announced this information after arresting Palpatine and prior to his trial. That way, there would almost be an obligation for the Senate to put Palpatine on a fair trial, rather than one rigged in his favor, simply because of the level of public backlash they would face in setting him free, which could result in them losing their seats on the Senate, and perhaps even start an open revolution. He would almost certainly need to be executed, as his Force abilities would render normal imprisonment procedures null. He would need some form of specialized imprisonment, or simply to be executed.

I imagine if Yoda was still on coruscant along with other members of the council, and were able to convene on the issue of palpatine being a sith lord, order 65 would have gone through without a doubt. I actually think it would've prevented anakin turning to the dark side with the knowledge that palpatine would've been put on trial, as opposed to mace just flat out killing him. If palpatine did fight back, then the jedi would have overwhelmed him easily, and even anakin if he showed up too. This now leaves one of two scenarios... If Obi wan wasn't sent to kill grievous, then the war would've lasted a lot longer but the sith threat would've been eliminated much quicker, with anakin remaining a jedi. If grievous was killed, but the droid army was not shut down, it's hard to say how long the war would've lasted, if someone else from the separatist parliament took command, if peace was signed, or if Obi wand absence would've led to anakin trying to defend palpatine. But, I think it's safe to say that splitting up the jedi masters and leaving a dangerous jedi (mace) and a volatile jedi (anakin) in charge back on coruscant, was the worst case scenario, and probably part of palpatines' plan. If the jedi were saved and the republic was restored of its corruption, I imagine they would perform widespread political reforms to protect dangerous officials from taking power and gaining emergency power, as well as clamping down on powerful corporations, especially ones with the capabilities to wage war. Battle droids and cloning would've also seen limitations put in place to disarm and restore the republic to its former anti-war stance. The jedi would probably also reactivate it's "shadows" who professionally hunted down the dark side of the force as they did in the old republic era, before the sith were near extinct. Essentially sith assassin's and hunters of sith artifacts, seeing as the sith were lurking in the shadows for years without them even being aware; moreso the fact that the dark side was so powerful, they couldn't sense palpatine of stop dooku from turning. It's hard to say if the republic and jedi would slump back into their old way of life, or reform into something else, much like many nations after world war 2. Closest example I can think of is the British empire. Extremely weak and poor pre-war due to the sentiment of disarmament and not wanting to waste lives like in the last great war, but a major player in the cold war and a world super power after 1945.

It would've been cool to see how things would've played out of they'd followed Yoda's more cautious guidance and not tried to immediately arrest Palpatine. Without their arrest and "attempt on his life," Palpatine may not have as quickly been able to have the unanimous support to consolidate the Republic into an Empire, since the people wouldn't have seen a reason, or a "threat," for Palpatine to be protecting them from. And as was mentioned in the video, taking out a Sith was only a personal goal of the Jedi. Obviously the galaxy shouldn't be run by a Sith Lord, but maybe the Jedis' decision was rash, and brought upon by the dark path that Yoda spoke of (Palpatine's influence?). Just speculation, but that would've been really interesting to attempt to see Palpatine carry put his plan without Windu trying to kill/arrest him as the last straw for Anakin turning to the dark side and for the Senate to applaud becoming an Empire. The Jedi would've still been present, and would've have had to make decisions as a council to "combat" Palpatine's political scheming, watching slowly, instead of rapidly, as things turned dark.

Were order 65 issued, I believe the 501st, led by commander appo, would be dispatched to arrest the chancellor, however I believe a great number of higher ranking clones and a majority of the 501st present at that time would be killed, including appo. Though palpatine would be executed, order 66 averted and commander bow would assume crontrol over the legion. Though I believe anakin would still turn to the dark side but be cut down by the team of Jedi that was originally sent to apprehend the chancellor

Order 65 was likely something Palpatine would have wanted in case he got voted out of office and needed the Clones to instigate a coup. They weren't programmed to disobey Palpatine.
