Shaft drive, weak second gear and little aftermarket support. They had a stout engine though and I always liked them.

I just bought a 79 tripple for $50 as a barn find and this bird can fly. Ill be releasing vids on it as i add and subtract things fom the bike.

My dad bought a new 79 xs eleven special in carmine red. put a rc header on it rejetted and slayed bikes left and right every weekend at the local strip. I got it in high school and put a big bore kit in it and drag bars. When sold it had 22k miles and 80 percent was raw dogging and drag racing never a single issue with the motor or shaft drive or second gear. Id pay 10k for it if I could get it back. Sold it in Beaumont Texas. 1k to the person who can give me location info on it
