You should bro. There’s so much good software out there that I recommend you buy something above entry level for your first hardware compressor. Simply can’t go wrong with a Distressor. It was one of my first pieces of outboard gear too.

Bro i have a question. So l mainly mix my rap vocals, I usually do a basic Waves 1176 and a LA2A combination for my compression, What if l want to start using a Distressor plugin? Does that replace my 1176 since it has an attack and release? to pair with a 2A? How should l use the distressor in my vocal chain is what im asking. Thank you.

If you're happy with what you're doing now, I wouldn't overthink it. Distressor is a great unit (hardware) plugins are a hit or miss.

Hey David :) deesser on the mixbuss : please, explain me why ? An alternative to hi freq. compressors ? And these hi freq compressors, man, I'm curious. Not many out there... You're a member, any of my mastering lessons are probably gonna show you the use. It's pretty simple, too bright a mix? Use a deesser, that's it. Fatso is my favorite for that if sporadic fast events, fusion hf for more top end general compression/taming

Do you think their new 500 Series Pump will compare to the rack? Wonder if I'd need a LA2A if I got the 500 Series pump. I already have 1176 clones.

I was thinking about grabbing the mike e comp to have the preamp and compressor is that a good idea or should I grab the distressor
