I'm an American english speaker that got curious when I saw this video because I am in the process of learning French. It somehow made me feel better because I feel the exact same way about French natives speaking so fast! If it's any consolation to anyone who reading this, the dilemma is the same regardless of what language you're learning, so keep pushing through. Your video is so informative and accurate, you are a wonderful teacher and I'm sure you are helping so many people!! Keep it up❤

In the British accent there is no "r" sound at the and of the words. For that reason, it seems to me that the words are half spoken and fast. But when it comes to American accent, your explanations are totally correct.

They don’t speak as fast as Spanish people, the thing is that I was so used to the Spanish’s pace that I wanted to implemente it to English so I turned out to sound like a rapper 😂 then I realized that what makes it faster is contractions and connecting not the pace itself
@mikemason746
@mikemason746 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think we americans really speak that fast compared to any other languages in casual conversation. I believe the problem for non-native speakers is that our pronunciation, especially of vowels, is pretty lazy so the individual words are hard to pick out. I am working on learning some Spanish and it is hard to get used to not making all the vowels into "uh".

As a native speaker from the US I can tell you that these tips can make a HUGE difference in helping you sound more natural. I listen to many native Russian speakers speaking English and Veronika is hands down one of the best and most natural sounding I've heard. I would swear that she was born in Russia, lived there for just a few years then moved permanently to the states. If you want to sound like an American (pluses and minuses to that, lol!), follow her advice!

Hello teacher, can you explain me the meaning of words "QUACK" and "QUACKERY" ( related to doctor). Also , how and when these words are used???
@rddavies
@rddavies 2 жыл бұрын
A quack means a doctor who is so awful that they are a complete fake - either they forged all their credentials (which does happen from time to time) or they're just as bad as someone who did. Not just a "bad" doctor but a complete fraud. Quackery is just the act of being a quack. It's a slightly dated expression in one sense but in another sense you'll still see it used. How the expression relates to the sound a duck makes? I don't know! Maybe something to do with Donald Duck but I sorta doubt it.
