Dark Souls 3 speedrunners always use the starting class assassin. There are a few reasons why to start with the assassin class. It makes the start of the speedrun too convenient to pass up.

It's to be lore accurate. Everyone knows the most important thing to a speedrunner is ensuring that the canon ending is unlocked and that all the pieces of lore fit in nicely. The main character, mr. Dark Souls 3, is canonically an assassin, as there are three Black Hand assassins that exist in Lothric, but in the game, you'll only ever encounter two, meaning that you're the third. Also each of the ashen ones who got resurrected to kill the lords of cinder have some sort of deep, personal tie to exactly one of them, Andre (I forget the name, the one with Horace the hushed) has beef with Aldrich, Seigfried was old friends with Yhorm, the crestfallen knight guy is a defector from the abyss watchers, and you the player are the final lack hand assassin of prince lothric. That's the real reason speedrunners choose assassin

Technically that would be the Mercenary who is doing clandestine shit at far away eastern lands in disguise with the auto Win blades as part of the package, as by Hunter Ring. The three Black Hands all have Dex Dual twin weapons. Twinswords which are 2 SS, twin weebtanas which are 2 Katanas, and the Winblades which are two Scimitars. Agree with the rest though especially because of how out of place weird Gotthard helps you out especially against toughies like the Abyss Watchers & Pontiff + how Albert the Lion Knight weirdly helps out with Vordt but bails if you kill Emma for the early Dancer fight.

Dahm even when game was at its peak I had to farm the mf silver knights for dark moon blade😭💀 but also was on console but still but at least I got to flex/enjoy it for about 2 years before PvP died and luckily on console there’s no hacks like PC But still dahm can’t believe I was wearing that mimic head farming medals and popping the 1 consumable to increase luck even tho it doesn’t matter once you hit 110 luck or whatever😭 Good times… good times I should be glad it happened even though it’s over right?

Buddy of mine can do a glitchless speedrun from start to soul of cinder in about 45 minutes. First time he sat down and did it in front of me I was absolutely mind blown lmao. Interestingly enough, he actually chooses the bandit start for every run he does. Can't remember his exact reasoning but for glitchless it makes sense

With q glitch you can use basically any item without spending it and it work for souls, but I wouldn't call it actually a dupe

@@1ZosoLZ when duping an item first you want to use the item like a souls then after using the item cast spook and then immediately use a dagger after. This glitch does not work current patch

you can dupe online with a friend. you make a backup save, then put the item you want to dupe on the ground. have your friends pick it up and keep it. then you reload the save and have your friends give back the item, you can do this over and over

DS3 was prolific in the amount of glitches it had: Tumble Buff Bow Spell Casts Repeating Great Arrow Crossbow Death Fall Camera Duping Sacred Flame/Thrall Axe Banner/Any Status Effect Banner/FP Dagger Dragon Stones Just to name a few off the top of my head. DS3 had a lot of its own unique glitches, but because From copy/pasted a lot of the code from DS1/Bloodborne, a lot of formerly patched glitches in those games were carried over into DS3.

@MattApocaalypse that's wrong they have tools and programs to help, to finding these things by accident is pretty difficult, it'd take forever just to find one run, that's how games that just come out probably already have a finished speedrun or started

I've worked for seven years as QA for EA and Ubisoft, and here's what I learned about glitches: often times they are discovered by the QA team, kept secret and then "discovered" by regular players "by accident".

Mine is completely the opposite I chose sorcerer as I did in all Souls games, but i ran a assassin play-though gameplay wise in ds3 mid game, with invisibility spell , slumbering dragon ring, toxic mist,chaos pyro , crystal soul spear and dex build, etc I personally feel sorcerer is much more balanced for beginners

there is a version of it that we could do in patch 1.08 and the version we use in all bosses speedruns on patch 1.12. its not duping like in dark souls 1.

Both are good. Glitches speedruns show how good you are at the game, while glitches speedruns show how much knowledge you have in the game. A dark souls 1 glitches speedrun shows so much hidden features and bugs in the game that defies everything you know. While a glitchless sekiro speedrun shows how good the player truly is when it comes to the combat aspect of the game

If you're aiming to make a dex/int build, it's easily one of the best. They start with a great weapon, a catalyst, and pretty good stats overall. It doesn't take much building or optimizing to make a functioning dex/int build from the Assassin, whereas its counterpart, the Sorcerer, will definitely struggle in the early game thanks to low stats other than Attunement and Intelligence

When you glitch you are disqualified in your speed run. I mean if you can glitch (and it counts) then I can cheat and boost my character to max level, run through walls and fight the final boss in the first 10 mins of the game, so I win.
